Fanatik becomes Official Premium Media Partner in Turkey

The latest addition to Euroleague Basketball’s exclusive list of Official Premium Media Partners is Fanatik from Turkey. Fanatik is the sports website leader in Turkey, which is among the largest and most important basketball markets in the world.

Euroleague Basketball introduced the concept of Official Premium Media Partners in 2013 to connect with fans of Europe’s top basketball competitions in their own languages. Henceforth, fans of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup in Turkey will be able to receive the latest and most accurate information, videos, features and more about the EuroLeague and EuroCup in Turkish.

Fanatik, which began as a daily print sports newspaper in 1995, has offered its readers extensive coverage of the EuroLeague and EuroCup through well-known and respected journalists such as Gokhan German. That coverage will only expand thanks to an agreement that assures the portal non-stop and exclusive content as a partner of Euroleague Basketball.

"Turkey loves basketball and the Turkish market, because of its size and its devotion to our sport, is one of the most important markets for Euroleague Basketball, " Alex Ferrer Kristjansson, Euroleague Basketball’s Director, Brand & Communication, said. "Therefore, we feel that joining forces with Fanatik as our latest Official Premium Media Partner is truly a win-win relationship for both sides."

In recent years Euroleague Basketball has partnered with leading media from different markets to develop country-specific offerings as well as global EuroLeague and EuroCup coverage for fans. Fanatik joins a select club of Euroleague Basketball media partners that includes L'Equipe in France, in Greece, La Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy, in Russia and As in Spain, as well as Official Global Media Partner Eurohoops.

"The EuroLeague is the best continental basketball league, " Mr. Necil Ülgen, Fanatik’s Editor in Chief, said. " We are pleased and proud to be starting a new partnership with Euroleague Basketball. This new partnership will bring great benefits for fans. We look forward to working together in what is sure to be a great partnership and we can't wait to start this journey with Euroleague Basketball. As the Fanatik brand, we always felt the passion of basketball. And with the Fanatik Basket brand, for many years we published a weekly basketball newspaper, and now we are doing a monthly magazine. We are very honored to be a part of the Euroleague organization."

Turkey is a hotbed of hoops featuring two top EuroLeague contenders: defending champion Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul and Anadolu Efes Istanbul. The Turkish League also has three clubs – Darussafaka Istanbul, Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul and Tofas Bursa – in the EuroCup this season.
