Its return to the 7DAYS EuroCup last season after 13 years away was fairly turbulent for Slask Wroclaw. The Polish giants finished the regular season 3-13 before being knocked out in the eighthfinals by Gran Canaria. Going into the new EuroCup campaign, Slask will be determined to improve on its performance to secure a better playoffs seed. Here are four games from the 2022-23 EuroCup calendar that Slask fans can look forward to.
2022-23 Games to Watch: Slask Wroclaw
Round 1: A chance for revenge
Slask will go back to the scene of its playoffs defeat last season with a chance to avenge that loss to Gran Canaria in the new one's very first game. The two teams had not met during the last regular season, as they were in different groups, but their playoff tie saw Gran Canaria win comfortably, beating Slask 87-60. Now that they have been paired in the same Group B of this season's EuroCup, the reigning Polish League champions will be keen to make amends when they take return to Gran Canaria Arena in Round 1.
Round 2: Home comforts
The Slask fans at Hala Orbita are known for their vocal support and, when the team welcomes Buducnost VOLI Podgorica in its first home match of the EuroCup season, they are sure to make it a tough atmosphere for the visiting side. Slask and Buducnost were in different groups last season and therefore did not face off against one another, while they both exited the competition at the eighthfinals stage. Last season saw Slask grab all three of its wins on its home court, and it will be keen to make Hala Orbita a fortress in the coming season.
Round 6: Polish support in London
There is an interesting matchup in Round 6 between the London Lions and Slask, as the EuroCup newcomers face a Slask side competing in the competition for the fourth time. The city of London is known for having a sizeable Polish community, which could see many Poles make the trip to Copper Box Arena to cheer on Slask. Expect London and Slask to be fighting it out for a playoff spot as the season goes on, so this game could set down an early marker in the fight to reach the knockout stages.
Round 18: Ending on a high
The last regular season game for Slask is away at Dolomiti Energia Trento, a match the Italian team won in overtime at PalaTrento last season. Curiously, that was the only victory Trento secured during the 2021-22 campaign. There may be a lot on the line for Slask going into this match, so a win could be vital if it wants to secure a place in the playoffs.
