Back in the 7DAYS EuroCup after one season away, Germani Brescia is looking to make an immediate impact in the 2022-23 edition of the competition. After a disappointing campaign two years ago, both domestically and in the EuroCup, the arrival of Alessandro Magro as head coach in the summer of 2021 has seen Brescia's fortunes turn around. The team will now be hoping to build on that and excite its fans with some impressive performances in Europe over the course of the coming season.
BACKCOURT
There was initially some uncertainty surrounding the future of star combo guard Amedeo Della Valle, with Turkish Airlines EuroLeague teams being linked with him, but in the end, he committed his future to Brescia. The 2018 All-EuroCup First Team selection impressed in his first season with Brescia, finishing as the Italian League's second-highest scorer with 18 points per game. Following the departure of Naz Mitrou-Long to EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, there are a number of players who will have the chance to shine alongside Della Valle in the team's backcourt, including new arrival Troy Caupain. After playing for Darussafaka Istanbul last season, for which he averaged 12.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 37 Turkish League games, he returns to the EuroCup where he played for ratiopharm Ulm in 2020-21. Sweet-shooting CJ Massinburg is set to appear in the EuroCup for the first time after a successful first European campaign in France with Limoges CSP. David Cournooh joined from fellow Italian team Cremona and brings with him EuroCup experience from seasons with Enel Brindisi (2015-16) and Virtus Segafredo Bologna (2019-20). Two players who remain on the roster from the 2021-22 campaign are John Petrucelli and Tommaso Laquintana. The former renewed his contract with the club until 2024 following a season in which he made 44.4% of his three-point shots in the Italian League. The latter is in his second stint with Brescia and serves as a backup point guard.
