Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul announced on Wednesday that it has signed team captain Melih Mahmutoglu to a two-year contract extension. Mahmutoglu (1.91 meters, 32 years old) is Fenerbahce’s longest-serving player, having joined the club for the 2013-14 season. He appeared in 23 games last season during which Mahmutoglu averaged 4.4 points per game.

Mahmutoglu has made 200 EuroLeague appearances – all with Fenerbahce – and has made 190 career three-pointers at a 40.1% conversion rate. He has been a part of Fenerbahce’s greatest achievements, including five consecutive Final Four appearances and winning the 2017 EuroLeague. Mahmutoglu has also won five Turkish League championships and three Turkish Cups with Fenerbahce. After growing up with rival Anadolu Efes Istanbul’s junior system, Mahmutoglu played for Pertevniyal Istanbul, Darussafaka Istanbul, Galatasaray Istanbul, Antalya BB and Erdermispor before joining Fenerbahce. He has also played for the Turkish national team.
