It was a historic Thursday night for Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, which set a new club scoring record in a 116-87 home victory against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. Its new point guard duo played a big part in it.
Playmakers Thompson, Henry led Baskonia to victory
Darius Thompson was a constant threat for Baskonia all game long, both scoring and sharing the ball. He finished the game with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists and a PIR of 24. His team-oriented effort allowed Baskonia to finish the game with solid shooting percentages (77.8% 2FG, 45.5% 3FG).
"I am glad we came out to fight and showed a lot of energy tonight," Thompson said after the game. "I just got everybody involved. You have seen everybody make shots, getting easy baskets. That is what I am here for, to help my teammates out."

Pierria Henry played his first home game with Baskonia in 17 months, since facing Valencia Basket in the 2021 Spanish League playoffs. He didn't have spectacular numbers, but his on-the-ball defense against Lorenzo Brown and Wade Baldwin was suffocating at times. He had 2 points, 8 assists and only needed to shoot the ball once to get a PIR of 9. Henry and Thompson combined for 16 assists and 4 turnovers, which allowed Baskonia to play fluently almost all the way.
