After a quiet season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Panathinaikos Athens is back with a revamped roster, starting with a new head coach in Dejan Radonjic. Some familiar faces have remained with the Greens, but the vast majority of the team will be new and thus must adapt quickly in order to hit the ground running.
BACKCOURT
The Greens' backcourt is almost entirely new, though it is filled with players who bring success with them. Playmaker Paris Lee joins the team after a strong EuroLeague debut season with AS Monaco while shooting guard Marius Grigonis arrives in Athens hungry to prove he is among the elite at his position after his first chance to do just that got truncated last season. Nate Wolters will start a new EuroLeague adventure in Greece with four seasons of experience under his belt and Andrew Andrews comes directly from a superb final stretch in the 7DAYS EuroCup in which he led Frutti Extra Bursaspor to the championship game. The backcourt of the Greens will have familiar faces in Lefteris Bochoridis and Neoklis Avdalas. The former extended his contract over the summer in what is his second stint at Panathinaikos and the teenage Avdalas will try to carve out a role after making six brief appearances last season. Twin brothers Georgios and Panagiotis Kalaitzakis have been reunited for the 2022-23 season and will cover the wings for the Greens. Georgios returns to Panathinaikos after a run in the NBA and Panagiotis comes off a great season in the EuroCup with Lietkabelis Panevezys.
