Dwayne Bacon arrived at Panathinaikos Athens earlier this month with a reputation as an elite scorer and the forward has somewhat lived up to that reputation by averaging 16.8 points in his first four games for the club. However, Bacon has needed a lot of shots to achieve those numbers, making just 35.3% of his two-point attempts and only 23.8% from beyond the arc.
Bacon, Panathinaikos: 'I can’t throw a rock in the ocean!'
In Tuesday’s victory over Virtus Segafredo Bologna, he scored 14 points on 3-of-11 two-point shooting and 1-of-5 on triples, plus 5 free throws on 6 shots from the line.
And to his credit, Bacon was the first to acknowledge that there is plenty of room for improvement to his field goal percentage as he joked after the game: “I feel good but I can’t throw a rock in the ocean at the moment! I can’t make any shots!”

Fortunately, his fellow Americans Derrick Williams (26 points), Nate Wolters (18 points) and Paris Lee (15 points) more than played their part to pull out a much-needed 88-85 victory, shooting a combined 22-of-39 from the field.
Bacon, surely, will soon start to improve his own percentages – and if he needs some practice before Friday’s meeting with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, he can always head down to the shores of the Aegean and pick up a few rocks.
