Andrea Trinchieri's team has won three in a row partly thanks to the excellent form of big man Laurynas Birutis, who has averaged 13.8 points in the last five games, while Keenan Evans scored 25 to overcome Zvezda last time out. Olympiacos has aspirations of climbing higher than its current sixth position, and is building momentum nicely with a three-game winning streak. The Greek team prevailed comfortably, 89-72, when the teams met in November, led by 25 and 22 points respectively from deep shooting threats Isaiah Canaan and Alec Peters.

- Zalgiris and Olympiacos faced each other in the 1999 Final Four in Munich, Germany. It was the first-ever official clash between these two sides. Zalgiris downed Olympiacos 87-71 in the semifinals behind 19 points from Anthony Bowie and went on to lift its first – and to date only – EuroLeague trophy.

- Zalgiris forward Edgaras Ulanovas earned MVP of the Round honors against Olympiacos in Game 4 of the 2018 EuroLeague Playoffs. He had 20 points, 9 rebounds and a performance index rating of 27.
- Olympiacos forward Kostas Papanikolaou played for the Greek national team under current Zalgiris head coach Andrea Trinchieri at EuroBasket 2013.
