Big names are always on the move in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, whether it’s superstars joining new teams or talented newcomers making their arrivals. Here are some of the most-important signings from the past week.
The week in EuroLeague signings
Monaco's major moves!
AS Monaco fans can expect more dynamic offense following the team's initial off-season moves last week. First and foremost, Monaco re-signed superstar guard Mike James, the team's All-EuroLeague scoring, assists and PIR leader last season, through the 2023-24 season. Monaco then added one of the most exciting EuroLeague newcomers, Elie Okobo, who had led LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in scoring and assists, with a two-year deal. Next, Monaco inked guard Jordan Loyd, Zenit St Petersburg's top scorer last season, for two seasons, too. Monaco did not forget defense, however. Its last move of the week was putting forward John Brown, who broke the EuroLeague record for total steals last season, in the frontcourt. Check out how Monaco's and other rosters are progressing.
Panathinaikos piled up experience
Panathinaikos OPAP Athens dominated the latter part of last week with announcements of four new arrivals, three of whom have plenty of EuroLeague experience. The Greens brought in sharpshooter Marius Grigonis on a two-year deal. Grigonis, 28, is a career double-digit scorer in four EuroLeague seasons. Panathinaikos then added more experience with playmaker Nate Wolters, who played for new head coach Dejan Radonjic at Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade last season. The Greens kept it going with the addition of dynamic forward Derrick Williams to a one-year deal, then returned to the perimeter to tab Andrew Andrews, who took Frutti Extra Bursaspor to the 7DAYS EuroCup Championship Game last season, with a two-year deal.
Real, Barca got stronger
Spanish rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona took big steps last towards completing their rosters. Real signed forward Dzanan Musa, who was the Spanish League MVP last season with Breogan, to a two-year deal. Last season's runners-up also announced that Rudy Fernandez, who has helped Real to 21 official titles, including EuroLeague crowns in 2015 and 2018, will be back for another seasons. Barca brought in signature forward Nikola Kalinic, a star two-way performer who lifted the EuroLeague trophy with Fenerbahce in 2017, and extended guard Nico Laprovittola, a shooting star in the team's recent run to the Final Four, until the end of the 2025-26 season.
Partizan, Virtus were busy
Ahead of their long-awaited returns to the EuroLeague next season, Partizan NIS Belgrade and Virtus Segafredo Bologna put some important pieces in place last week. Partizan found a scoring ace in James Nunnally, one of the best three-point shooters in EuroLeague history. Nunnally and Partizan head coach Zeljko Obradovic won the EuroLeague together with Fenerbahce in 2017. Virtus bolstered its frontcourt with the back-to-back arrivals of center Jordan Mickey, who arrives from Zenit St Petersburg, and Ismael Bako, who returns to the EuroLeague after a season away.
