Israeli League: Dorsey, Avdija send Maccabi to Final Four

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv left it late to pull out 83-68 win in the decisive Game 3 of its best-of-three Israeli League quarterfinal series against Hapoel Tel Aviv. A 2-1 series win sent Maccabi to the Final Four where it will face Gilboa Galil in the semifinals. Hapoel Jerusalem and 7DAYS EuroCup side Maccabi Rishon will play in the other semifinals. Maccabi took control of Game 3 early, scoring the first 7 points of the game, before three-pointers from Tyler Dorsey and Deni Avdija during a 13-1 run opened 22-9 margin. Dorsey restored a 13-point margin, 28-15, at the start of the second quarter, but Hapoel answered with a three-pointer from Yam Madar and a three-point play from Jordan Davis, which helped to get them within 31-25. Davis helped the visitors cut within 43-41 at halftime, and baskets from Talib Zanna, Tomer Ginat and Madar put Hapoel in front 47-51 midway through the third. But Angelo Caloiaro and Jake Cohen replied with back-to-back triples to restore Maccabi's lead, then Dorsey hit twice from downtown to help make it 63-56 going into the fourth. Hapoel scored the first 5 points of the final quarter before Dorsey and Avdija fueled a 9-0 run that opened 74-63 margin with 3 minutes to go as Maccabi closed out the game. Dorsey finished with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists, while Avdija had 22 points plus 10 rebounds. Caloiaro had 13 points and 7 rebounds for Maccabi which was without Scottie Wilbekin and Yovel Zoosman. Madar had 18 points, and Ginat scored 13 in a defeat.
