Carsen Edwards, Bayern: 'Still growing, still learning'
Point guard Carsen Edwards is in his second Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season and he has become a big factor in FC Bayern Munich, a team that is playing for a spot in the play-in showdown.
Edwards considers him a competitive player, and having played under the orders of such laureate coaches as Dimitris Itoudis (in Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul last season) and Pablo Laso has helped him hone down his skills.
"I think that [Laso's] experience has helped me with my mistakes due to lack of experience," Edwards explains. "It's exciting for me to keep learning through him."
Laso also appreciates the valuable piece he has in his team. Edwards is averaging 11.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists as a starter for Bayern this season.
"He is an impressive scorer, and he also understands that it's good for the team that he creates situations where he can pass," coach Laso says. "That's hwy I think Carsen is doing a great job."
Edwards is one of the main factors for Bayern to be in a position for a chance at the postseason. That is quite impressive considering that last Summer the club placed his bet on coach Laso to start a new project almost from scratch.
"I enjoy the level, the competitiveness of it," Edwards says. "But I am still growing, still learning. Trying to get used to everything."
If things continue this way, expect Edwards to become a staple in Munich for the foreseeable future."
