FC Bayern Munich stunned regular-season champion and host FC Barcelona by leading for all but a couple first-quarter possessions en route to a 75-90 victory at Palau Blaugrana in Game 2 on Thursday. Bayern's first-ever Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs road win tied the series at 1-1 as the teams head to Munich for two games next week.

Deshaun Thomas propelled the winners with 25 points on 6-for-7 three-point shooting. Andreas Obst followed him with 4 more triples and 15 points, while Nick Weiler-Babb, Ognjen Jaramaz and Augustine Rubit posted 12, 11 and 10 points respectively. Nikola Mirotic and Nicolas Laprovittola paced Barcelona with 16 apiece, as Nick Calathes added 13 points and 8 assists in the losing effort. The visitors used a 0-7 run to finish the first quarter ahead by 16-23. Thomas extended that lead to 35-48 with 15 second-quarter points. Barcelona rallied to within 56-61 before timely triples by Obst and Thomas bridging the third and fourth quarters provided Bayern with a double-digit lead and control of the game for good.

Bayern's backcourt had an impressive start in which Nihad Dedovic provided 5 points, Weiler-Babb hit a tough jumper and Vladimir Lucic added another bucket for an early 3-9 edge. Mirotic drilled a three to get Barcelona closer, and later got a free-throw off a technical foul to Bayern boss Andre Trinchieri that made it all square, 11-11. Laprovittola completed the rally with a lob shot and a three to push Barcelona ahead 16-14, but a 2-8 spark highlighted bya triple from Jaramaz helped the visitors close the first quarter on top, 18-23.
Thomas came up big after the break with a jumper and back-to-back triples that quickly boosted Bayern's advantage to double-digits, 20-31. Barcelona's timeout didn't stop Thomas, who continued rocking and buried another bucket, which Weiler-Babb followed with a couple of free throws to make it 20-35 after 13 minutes. Mirotic and Laprovittola took over to calm the hosts, but Obst and Augustine Rubit kept Bayern charging with a triple and a three-point play, respectively. Despite Calathes's efforts, another bomb by Thomas and a free throw by Dedovic kept Bayern comfortably in front, 35-48, at halftime.
Kyle Kuric and Thomas swapped three-pointers after the game resumed, but those were the only points for each side for the first 3 minutes of the third quarter. The hosts found some offensive momentum through their frontcourt and got within 47-53 behind a corner three-pointer by Kuric and free throws by Mirotic midway through the third quarter. Thomas showed up from behind the arc to stop Barca's rally and Jaramaz helped Bayern retain a safe margin, 54-61, with 5 points in a row. Obst took over from deep and nailed a couple of shots, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer that sent the game to the last stanza with Bayern comfortably in charge again, 56-67.
Both teams needed some time to score early in the fourth quarter. Thomas struck first with his sixth triple to make it 56-70 with 8 minutes remaining. Barca made the most of its offense later by chaining together 3 three-point plays that reduced the margin to 65-72. But the guests didn't tremble. Othello Hunter and Obst scored inside, and free throws by Jaramaz and Rubit returned a double-digit margin to Bayern. Weiler-Babb and Zan Sisko extended the difference to 70-85 with a triple and a floater, respectively, entering crunch time. It proved too much for Barcelona as Rubit and Lucic were solid at the foul line in the final minute to seal the outcome.
