Panathinaikos OPAP Athens has completed the signing of Nate Wolters on a one-year deal, the club confirmed Friday. Wolters (1.93 meters, 31 years old) follows coach Dejan Radonjic in leaving Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade for Panathinaikos this summer. Last season saw Wolters average 10.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 31 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague matches for Zvezda.

Panathinaikos is gaining a EuroLeague veteran in Wolters, as he has played 101 games in the competition. He made his EuroLeague debut in 2016-17 with Zvezda, coming off the bench in all but one of his 27 appearances, before going on to play a bigger role with Zalgiris Kaunas, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and Zvezda again in the 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons, respectively. Over his four seasons in the competition, he has averaged 9.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists. In the 2021-22 EuroLeague campaign, Wolters recorded season highs in points (337), rebounds (80) and assists (113). He has also spent two seasons in the 7DAYS EuroCup, suiting up for Besiktas and UNICS Kazan in 2015-16 and 2020-21, respectively.
Wolters played college basketball at South Dakota State University before spending the first two years of his professional career with Milwaukee and New Orleans of the NBA, in addition to Grand Rapids of the G-League. His first experience of European basketball came with Besiktas of Turkey and Zvezda of Serbia, and this was followed by a brief spell with Utah of the NBA. Wolters then joined Elan Chalon of France on a short-term deal in January 2018 and has remained in Europe ever since, going on to play for Zalgiris of Lithuania, Maccabi of Israel and UNICS of Russia. He returned to Zvezda last summer, winning the ABA League, the Serbian League and the Serbian Cup, the same three trophies he won during his first stint at the club.
