Lietkabelis adds ace rebounder Fardaws Aimaq

Lietkabelis Panevezys made sure to fortify its paint by signing power forward Fardaws Aimaq to a one-year deal on Saturday.
Aimaq (2.11 meters, 26 years old) arrives from NHSZ Szolnoki Olajbanyasz, where he averaged 15.1 points and a competition-best 11.3 rebounds in 34 Hungarian League games last season. He also did well in the FIBA Europe Cup, averaging 15.7 points and 12.7 rebounds. It was his first season as a professional basketball player after being a rebounding machine throughout his college career.
In his only season with the University of California, Aimaq averaged 14.5 points and 11.1 rebounds in 32 NCAA games. Before that he played for Utah Valley University for two seasons, where he averaged 14.9 rebounds in the 2020-21 campaign and 13.5 boards the next season. Aimaq was the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2021 and the WAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. He has also been a member of the Canadian national team.
