Promitheas Patras announced on Wednesday that Giannis Christopoulos has become its head coach, following a departure of Makis Giatras who has stepped down due to health reasons. Christopoulos, 48, has last coached with Beijing Ducks in China, and now returns to his hometown where he previously already coached two other clubs, Apollon and Olympias.
During more than 25 years of his coaching career, Christopoulos has also been on the bench of AEL Larissa and Trikala in Greece, APOEL and AEL in Cyprus, FC Bayern Munich in Germany, first as an assistant then as a head coach in the first part of the 2012-13 season. He then went on to work as an assistant with the Chinese national team, before coaching Beijing Ducks since 2017.
