The Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy, first awarded in 2005, is the Turkish Airline's EuroLeague's only postseason award based solely on statistics.
The Top Scorer Trophy is earned by the player who, after playing games in at least 51% of the rounds until the end of the playoffs, holds the highest scoring average in the competition.
Alphonso Ford, heroic award namesake
The award is named for the late Alphonso Ford, who led the modern EuroLeague in scoring in each of its first two seasons, with Greek clubs Peristeri in 2000-01 and Olympiacos Piraeus in 2001-02, making him the only back-to-back top scorer of the century. His 2000-01 average of 26.0 points remains the highest in league history. In 2002-23, Ford ranked third and let Montepaschi Siena to the Final Four. He played all three of those seasons after being diagnosed with leukemia and died of the disease at age 32 on September 4, 2004.
