Fenerbahce re-signs team captain Mahmutoglu for another season

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and team captain Melih Mahmutoglu have agreed on another one-year contract, the club announced Saturday. For Mahmutoglu (1.91 meters, 35 years old), who joined the team in the 2013-14 season, this will be his 13th season with the club.
Mahmutoglu is Fenerbahce’s longest-tenured player, with 234 EuroLeague appearances. He appeared in six games last season, helping Fenerbahce win its second EuroLeague crown. He also played 39 games in the Turkish League, averaging 9.6 points on 46.6% three-point shooting.
Over his 12 EuroLeague seasons, Mahmutoglu he has made 225 three-pointers at 40% accuracy and scored 1,002 points. In his time with Fenerbahce, Mahmutoglu has helped the club to seven EuroLeague Final Fours, seven Turkish championships and five Turkish Cups.
Mahmutoglu began his career with Anadolu Efes Istanbul and also played for Pertevniyal Istanbul, Darussafaka, Galatasaray, Antalya and Erdermispor before joining Fenerbahce and becoming a club legend.
