Monaco is in great form with four straight victories, but was shocked by the Italian team, 59-83, when the teams met in October. Virtus claimed a massive 46 rebounds in that game, so the visitors will look for Donta Hall and Donatas Moteijunas to protect the backboards more strongly as they confront Bryant Dunston and Toko Shengelia. The game also features two of the league's most potent long-range shooters, Marco Belinelli (2.8 triples per game) and Mike James (2.7).
- In Round 2 Virtus handed Monaco its biggest defeat ever in a EuroLeague home game, 59-83.
- Last year's season-opener marked the first EuroLeague game ever between Virtus and Monaco, which Monaco won 66-83 in Bologna with Mike James scoring 26 points with 6 assists.
- These teams faced each other four times in recent EuroCup seasons and Virtus won each time.
- Monaco center Mam Jaiteh spent the last two seasons at Virtus. He helped the team win the 2022 EuroCup as the EuroCup MVP.
- Monaco guard Mike James and Virtus forward Tornike Shengelia were teammates at Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz for two seasons, from 2014 to 2016. Together they helped Baskonia reach the 2016 Final Four. They were also teammates at CSKA Moscow during the 2020-21 season.
- James was also a teammate of Virtus guard Daniel Hackett for two seasons at CSKA, from 2019 to 2021.
- Virtus big man Jordan Mickey and Monaco guard Jordan Loyd were teammates at Zenit St Petersburg during the 2021-22 season.
- Mickey set his career high with 5 blocks playing for Zenit St Petersburg against Monaco in January 2022.
- Monaco's Terry Tarpey, Elie Okobo and Yakuba Ouattara and Virtus's Isaia Cordinier were teammates on the French national team at the 2023 World Cup.
