MVP chants rain down for Badio in another great showing
Valencia's Brancou Badio bossed Bayen in blowout win

Valencia Basket roll into the national team break on a high note after another outstanding performance at home - this time singing again offensively, thanks in large part to a career night from Brancou Badio.
The Senegalese point guard poured in 16 points in Valencia’s convincing 90-64 win over FC Bayern Munich - the team’s fifth straight home win for an 8-5 record.
“I hope we keep playing like this as a team overall. Tonight was a great team win. We had a rough first quarter. We started to pick it up in the second quarter and from there we kept playing like we practice,” said Badio, who added 1 rebound, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 impressive block for a career high PIR of 21.
Badio, who has now scored 16 points in back-to-back games, was doing some of everything for Pedro Martinez’s team.
The 26-year-old knocked down 3 three-pointers for the second straight game - and third overall - while also throwing down a nice dunk after a steal and wowing the fans at the Roig Arena with some beautiful layups and layup attempts. And the biggest highlight of the night was his monstrous chase-down block on Stefan Jovic.
When asked about his spectacular swat against his former Valencia teammate, Badio laughed and said: “That’s my OG.”
The Roig Arena faithful showed their appreciation of the EuroLeague debutant by chanting “MVP, MVP, MVP” in the fourth quarter. Badio is averaging 12.5 points while hitting 37.5% from long range in his second season with the club.
Valencia trailed 19-21 after 10 minutes and Bayern held a 7-point lead in the second quarter. But the hosts took over the game in the closing 5 minutes of the first half with a 14-2 run to enter the break up 4 points.
Then Valencia broke open the game for good with a 21-4 start to the second half and extended the advantage to 22 points in the frame before moving its home record to 6-1.
Five players scored in double figures in the win, with Jean Montero and Omari Moore both pouring in 13 points, Darius Thompson collecting 12 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and Nate Reuvers chipping in 11 points.
“Happy to get a W. It’s always a pleasure to play in front of our fans and do our best,” said Montero.
And when asked what is possible this season in the EuroLeague, he added: “In life, there is no limit. You just have to do your best, keep going and fight through it.”
The win was a return to Valencia’s free-flowing self after it showed it can win tough defensive battles as well in Round 12 with a 76-73 victory over Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade.
Bayern, on the other hand, is reeling. With head coach Gordon Herbert still out sick, the German side totaled only 27 points in the second half in losing its fourth straight game for a 5-8 record. Bayern fell to 1-5 on the road and the team was playing its third game of a brutal stretch of seven consecutive road games.
Coach TJ Parker’s message to his team was clear: “We played 15 minutes of good basketball and didn’t show up in the second half.”
Spencer Dinwiddie is the only player who scored in double figures with 12 points even though he fought through foul trouble in the second half.
The national team break comes at the perfect time for Bayern while it would not be a surprise if Valencia wants to keep playing - especially home games.
