Buducnost crushes London Lions in 59-86 road win



Buducnost VOLI Podgorica opened its 2025-26 BKT EuroCup season with a comfortable 59-86 victory at the London Lions on Thursday night. The visitors dominated from the off at Copper Box Arena and led from start to finish, which allowed them to celebrate their first win of the campaign.
Nikola Tanaskovic bagged a team-high 13 points, with Skylar Mays, Axel Bouteille and Rasheed Sulaimon netting 12 each. Kameron McGusty paced London with 13 points, 9 of which were scored in the fourth quarter.

Buducnost opened the game with a 0-6 run, with all three scores coming from inside the arc. It took London 4 minutes to get its first bucket, with Joel Scott netting a corner triple. But the visitors dictated the tempo through their defense, with seven players getting on the scoresheet to secure a 12-20 cushion after 10 minutes.
Mays hit the ground running in the second quarter, drilling two triples and a couple of jumpers to open a 15-34 lead. Then, Fletcher Magee scored his first 5 points of the game and Dordije Jovanovic connected from deep as Buducnost maintained a 25-46 advantage at halftime.
Tarik Phillip scored the first bucket of the second half, but back-to-back triples from Bouteille restored a 30-52 lead. Aaryn Rai netted twice from beyond the arc before finding Deane Williams, who nailed one of his own, slightly cutting the deficit to 39-58. Yet, the guests ended the third quarter with a 2-8 run, taking a 25-point lead (41-66) into the fourth.
The game turned into an exchange of blows in the opening stages of the closing quarter, with a red-hot McGusty bagging 9 straight points before a Sulaimon triple made it 53-74 for the visitors. London tried to find the energy for a final comeback push, but Buducnost’s defense remained tight until the final buzzer, sealing the outcome in the English capital.
