Boulogne Metropolitans 92 made quick work of short-handed Umana Reyer Venice in storming to an 87-66 victory at Palais des sports Marcel-Cerdan on Wednesday night.

The hosts took control for good with a 10-0 first-quarter run and took it into the 20s with a 15-0 charge to close the third quarter. Vince Hunter and Keith Hornsby scored 14 points apiece to lead a balanced Metropolitans attack. Hunter also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. Will Cummings added 12 points for the winners and Jordan McRae and Miralem Halilovic had 10 each. Mitchell Watt scored 11 for Reyer, which was without Austin Daye and lost starting point guard Jordan Theodore to an injury in warmups.

Reyer used sound defense and a pair of baskets by Watt to storm out to a 0-7 start. Nearly 3 minutes passed before Hunter got the hosts going with a put-pack. Metropolitans came back to tie it before Watt buried a three. A triple by Andrea De Nicolao extended the margin to 9-13. Metropolitans got going with second-chances points from Halilovic and Hunter in a 10-0 run to take the lead. Bandja Sy’s steal and slam made it 19-13 after 10 minutes.
Hornsby netted a layup and a triple at the beginning of the second quarter as the lead swelled to double-figures. Valerio Mazzola ended the Reyer scoring drought with a three, but Halilovic stepped up with a slam and an assist to Tomer Ginat as Metropolitans went up 30-18 midway through the quarter. Hornsby and McRae stretched the lead to 15 before Michael Bramos gave the visitors a lifeline with a triple. Jeff Brooks and Martynas Echodas drew Reyer within 40-30 at the break.
Watt scored the first basket of the second half before Cummings netted the next 4 points to keep the hosts in charge. Bramos and Lahaou Konate traded threes. McRae connected from downtown and Halilovic scored on the offensive glass as the Metropolitans lead reached 52-37. Bramos’s third triple did little to change the momentum as Hunter and Cummings scored uncontested baskets to extend the difference. Ginat and Hunter kept the scoreboard moving during a 15-0 run to end the third quarter leading 67-40.
De Nicolao buried a three for Reyer and Jordan Morgan scored inside, but Metropolitans continued to roll. Morgan and De Nicolao continued to provide resistance for the visitors, but the outcome was clear. Teenager Assemian Moulare kept the fans involved with 5 late points as Metropolitans wrapped up the victory.
