That dramatic moment gave Gran Canaria a 69-68 victory after Bahcesehir had taken the opener 74-66, and Wednesday night’s decider is likely to be another low-scoring battle between two teams whose identity is built around strong defense – as shown by the fact that Bahcesehir boasts the best defense in the EuroCup with just 74.3 points allowed per game, while Gran Canaria is ranked second with 76.2 points conceded.
Offensively, Gran Canaria enjoyed a very productive night close to the basket in Game 2, converting 20 of its 32 two-point attempts (62.5%) led by Nico Brussino with 4 of 6 (18 points total) and Mike Tobey with 4 of 5 (11 points total). If that kind of effectiveness can be maintained and supplemented by better outside shooting, after the Spanish team shot just 5 triples on Friday, Jaka Lakovic’s men will be well-placed to reach their second final in three years.
