Umana Reyer Venice got its 7DAYS EuroCup season up and running on Tuesday night, as it beat U-BT Cluj-Napoca at BTarena to record its first win of the campaign. Cluj made things difficult for Reyer in the final stages, getting to within 3 points with 00:07 left to go, but the Italian team managed to hold on thanks to Marco Spissu's cool head at the free-throw line.
It took until overtime for Buducnost VOLI Podgorica to eventually beat Promitheas Patras, but it was able to do so thanks to an impressive showing from Phil Booth. Buducnost had a sizeable lead during regulation but saw it slowly slip away, with Promitheas refusing to give up. Yet, it proved a step too far in overtime, as the team was unable to keep pace with Buducnost.
The Veolia Towers Hamburg fans inside edel-optics.de Arena were able to see their team record its first home win of the season on Tuesday night, as it staved off a comeback effort to beat Slask Wroclaw. Hamburg led by as many as 19 points at halftime, but Slask managed to flip the game on its head and take a lead by the end of the third quarter. That served as motivation for the Hamburg players to wake up, however, with Kendale McCullum stepping up in particular for the hosts.
On a night where teams almost gave up big leads, Paris Basketball almost did the same on the road at Dolomiti Energia Trento. Ahead by 15 points in the latter stages of the second quarter, Trento refused to give up and pulled the game to within one point, 86-87, with 15.6 seconds remaining, but new Paris signing Jeremy Evans stepped up with a two-pointer and a crucial rebound to seal the French team's second win of the season.
