Gran Canaria promotes Jakub Urbaniak to first team

Dreamland Gran Canaria announced on Thursday that Jakub Urbaniak will be a member of the club’s first team for the 2024-25 season. Urbaniak (2.06 meters, 21 years old) first joined the club last season, but played for Gran Canaria’s third-division team for which he averaged 15.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Born in Poland, Urbaniak grew up in Malaga, Spain, from age 3 and played in the Unicaja Malaga youth system. When he was 18, Urbaniak moved to the Czech Republic and spent a season at the Get Better Academy. He went back to Poland to play for Trefl Sopot before joining Gran Canaria last summer. Urbaniak has been a member of the Polish national team at both the U18 and U20 levels.
