The veteran forward suffered a broken finger in preseason action
Hamburg: Niklas Wimberg to miss start of season

Veolia Towers Hamburg forward Niklas Wimberg will miss several months after breaking the ring finger on his left hand in a preseason game against ALBA Berlin. The 29-year-old is scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday.
“Niklas started preseason in strong form and was an important reference point for our new players,” Hamburg's sporting director Marvin Willoughby said. “It’s tough that, like last year, he’ll miss almost the entire preparation and the start of the season. He’ll follow a rehab plan after surgery to return to training and the court as soon as possible.”
Wimberg averaged 5.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 10 EuroCup games with Hamburg last season, his first with the club. He previously played two EuroCup campaigns with EWE Baskets Oldenburg and two EuroLeague seasons with FC Bayern Munich.
