For the first time this season, London Lions have managed to win consecutive games. On Wednesday, the Lions bested Slask Wroclaw 97-80 at home. A good start to the first and fourth quarters made the difference in the game.
London started strong, finished stronger

Slask only led after the opening basket. After that, Sam Dekker hit a one-handed jumper in the lane which Luke Nelson followed with a three-pointer off a steal. It was the start of a 14-0 run in which Dekker made a triple off a dribble and Nelson added another bomb from downtown for a 14-2 London lead. Slask improved its defense and slowly but steadily returned to the game, trailing 48-45 at halftime and 68-63 at the end of the third quarter.
Just when London seemed to show weakness, it brought out its best version, playing physical at both ends of the floor. Aaron Best rescued the hosts with a put-back layup that Dekker followed with a three-point play. Those two baskets sparked a 13-0 run in which Miye Oni dazzled the crowd with a spectacular coast-to-coast dunk. After that run, London led 81-63 and was well on its way to a 97-80 victory.
Basketball is a game of runs and London showed that when things go its way, it can be one of the most dangerous teams in the competition. When its defense works, London has enough scorers to make just about anything happen.
