The second half of the BKT EuroCup Regular Season gets underway this week with Round 10 offering 10 games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Here's your guide to the action.

After sinking to the foot of the Group A standings, Turk Telekom (1-8) will aim to snap a seven-game losing streak with a visit from high-flying Cluj (7-2). Cluj is coming off a remarkable 120-111 overtime victory over Lietkabelis featuring 20 points on 6-of-8 three-point shooting from [Jarrell Eddie](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jarell-eddie/010569/), who has now made multiple triples on seven occasions this season and ranks third in the league in three-pointers made (2.8 per game) - just ahead of teammate [DJ Seeley](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/dennis-seeley/004862/) (2.7). In contrast, Turk Telekom will base its approach on the inside power of [Steven Enoch](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/steven-enoch/011239/), who has remarkably recorded five consecutive double-doubles.

Lowly Hamburg (1-8) is looking to boost its faint playoffs ambitions against a Prometey team (4-5) currently placed just outside the all-important top six. Prometey won the season-opening meeting between the teams by a blowout 97-77, emphasizing its inside dominance through 11 points and 4 rebounds from [Yvacheslav Bobrov](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/vyacheslav-bobrov/002020/), both personal season highs. Hamburg will try to compete through the outside shooting prowess of [Aljami Durham](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/aljami-durham/012582/), who made 3 triples without a miss in that previous meeting between the teams and has converted 52.6% of his long-range attempts this season.

Prometey started the 2023-24 BKT EuroCup season in style by downing 97-77 Veolia Towers Hamburg in Group A on Wednesday.

After grabbing its first EuroCup road win in 16 years, Slask (1-8) will look to build further momentum at home against a Bourg team (7-2) which enjoyed a great first half of the regular season. [Jakub Niziol](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jakub-niziol/005531/)'s 25 points were instrumental in Slask's victory over Turk Telekom last week, and the forward has now reached double figures in four consecutive games. He will try to overcome another in-form player, [Zaccharie Risacher](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/zaccharie-risacher/010718/), who scored 17 points in Bourg's impressive victory at Ulm in Round 9 and has an impressive 62.1% three-point conversion rate so far this season.

Red-hot London (7-2) will look for a fifth straight win as it travels to Reyer (4-5), which has won three of its last four. The Italian team's latest triumph was a comfortable home win over Hamburg on the back of 22 points and 9 assists from [Marco Spissu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/marco-spissu/004381/), who has recorded a PIR of at least 18 in five consecutive games. London's offense will take some stopping after blasting 101 points last week at Wolves, where 5 triples from [Conor Morgan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/conor-morgan/009680/) helped him take the weekly MVP award. London boasts the competition's third-most potent offense (93.2 points per game) but was held to a season-low in the first meeting between the teams, won by the English club 76-69.

After losing out in last week's thriller against Cluj in overtime, Lietkabelis (4-5) returns home with the aim of overcoming a Buducnost team (3-6) that needs to bounce back from a 27-point thrashing in Gran Canaria. It's a key battle between direct rivals on the fringes of the playoffs places, and Lietkabelis needs a 12-point winning margin to claim the head-to-head advantage after Buducnost enjoyed a 76-65 opening night win. [Mckinley Wright](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/mckinley-wright-iv/012606/) orchestrated that victory with 13 points and 5 assists, and this week Buducnost will have to find a way of stopping [Gediminas Orelik](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/gediminas-orelik/002012/), who averages 18.6 points after scoring in double digits every game so far this season.

A big battle in the playoff race will see Besiktas (6-3) host Joventut (4-5) after contrasting emotions for the two teams last week. Joventut ended a three-game losing streak by overcoming Prometey on the back of perfect 4-of-4 three-point shooting from [Pau Ribas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/pau-ribas/jug/), while Besiktas fell to Hapoel despite 16 points and 9 assists from [Derek Needham](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/derek-needham/008945/) and has now lost two of its last three. The Turkish team restricts its opponents to a league-low 15 assists per game and will look for that kind of stingy defense to repeat its opening day 62-63 in Badalona.

Group A leader Paris (8-1) will aim to retain that position and damage the playoffs ambitions of host Wolves (4-5) - one of four teams currently tied for fifth place - in Vilnius. Paris won by a blowout 105-78 when the teams met in October so Wolves will be well aware of the threat posed by Paris backcourt leader [TJ Shorts](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/tj-shorts/012608/), who combined 20 points with 9 assists on that occasion. The home team will look for physical dominance from [Christian Mekowulu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/christian-mekowulu/012576/), who delivered his best-scoring night of the season with 17 points in last week's defeat against London.

Cedevita's (0-9) quest for a first win continues with a visit from Hapoel (6-2), which is looking to protect its position in the playoff places. Hapoel is looking for a third straight win after last week overcoming Besiktas thanks to another strong performance from [J'Covan Brown](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/j-covan-brown/011991/), who has averaged 17 points and 7.7 assists in the last three games and will be relishing the opportunity to go up against the second-weakest defense in the competition, with Cedevita allowing an average of 90.2 points per game. The Slovenian team does have plenty of firepower, with fit-again [Justin Cobbs](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/justin-cobbs/005969/) registering 19 and 21 points in his two games since returning from injury.

Trento (4-5) will aim to keep its position in the all-important top six by downing Ulm (6-3), which is looking to bounce back into winning ways. [Quinn Ellis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/quinn-ellis/012593/)'s game-winning heroics last week against Aris again showed that he is a rising force, with the young Englishman averaging 9.8 points along with a team-high 4.3 assists. But the visitors also have plenty of emerging talent, with star guard [Juan Nunez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/juan-nunez/010106/) reaching a PIR of at least 15 in each of the last five games. Ulm committed 16 turnovers in last week's home loss to Bourg, so will look for better ball control as it seeks to complete a season sweep over Trento.

[Dreamland Gran Canaria vs. Aris Midea Thessaloniki ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/2023-24/dreamland-gran-canaria-aris-midea-thessaloniki/U2023/99/)

Gran Canaria (9-0) will look to protect its status as the competition's only unbeaten team with a visit from Aris (3-6), which needs a shock road win to push back toward the playoffs places. Gran Canaria has the competition's best two-point shooting conversion rate, 61.5%, with forward [Miquel Salvo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/miquel-salvo/005005/) particularly strong in the paint making 71.4% of attempts inside the arc in his average of 8.6 points per game. Aris has lost its last three games but still boasts the EuroCup's meanest defense, allowing an average of just 73.2 points. The visiting team will also hope [Ronnie Harrell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/harrell-ronnie/012716/) can maintain his hot hand after netting a personal-best 24 points in last week's last-second loss at Trento.

Only a small percentage of minutes played in the BKT EuroCup are by teenagers, but those who do earn significant roles often go on to find great success.

Stats review: Analyzing what today's teenage stars can offer tomorrow

Round 9 of the BKT EuroCup featured one of the more memorable showcases of young talent in the history of the competition during the [matchup between Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse and ratiopharm Ulm](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/2023-24/ratiopharm-ulm-mincidelice-jl-bourg-en-bresse/U2023/86/). 18-year-old Rising Star award candidate [Zaccharie Risacher](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/zaccharie-risacher/010718/) scored 17 points to help Bourg to victory while for Ulm, 19-year-old point guard [Juan Nunez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/juan-nunez/010106/) scored or created 24 points, 18-year-old [Pacome Dadiet](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/pacome-dadiet/011457/) scored 14 off the bench, and 16-year-old [Noa Essengue](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/noa-essengue/011391/) added 4 in a first-half shift.  

The demographics of the league at large make it easy to understand the significance of those contributions. The average player on the court during a EuroCup game all-time is 27.1 years old and has risen to 28 years old this season. Only 11 players under the age of 19 have appeared in a game this season and only 4 players under the age of 20 have played more than 75 minutes through the first half of the year. It is exceedingly difficult for young players to get traction at this level, let alone be productive contributors — the level of play and the urgency of the format nearly prohibits it.

Nearly is the important word there as the graph above illustrates. Teenagers have made up 2% of all minutes played in EuroCup history and have earned 2.7% of game action this year. While anything resembling a youth movement in the EuroCup is rare, when young players do rise at this level, it is often a signal of things to come. 

Of the 29 teenagers who have scored over 100 points in a single EuroCup season, the list is nearly exclusive to players whose star continued to rise meaningfully from there featuring globally recognizable names like Ricky Rubio, Milos Teodosic, Rudy Fernandez, Dario Saric, Jusuf Nurkic, Dzanan Musa, Jonas Valanciunas, and Kristaps Porzingis to cite a few.

Porzingis scored a record 186 points as a teenager over 16 appearances during the 2014-15 season. 

Risacher has scored 121 points through the first half of the season putting him on pace to eclipse that mark in Round 14. Not only has Risacher been historically productive, but he ranks among the top 15 players in offensive efficiency among volume scorers. He’s filled his role at a high level for a player of any age, let alone one competing against players nearly a decade older than he is on average. 

Nunez broke Ricky Rubio’s record for assists by a teenager last season, though it is worth noting that he was a year older than his countryman was during their respective campaigns. He is on pace to raise the standard even higher by the end of this season given the way he has played throughout the month of November.

Whether it is Risacher’s impressive combination of size, shooting, and defensive versatility, Nunez’s innate flair and creativity as a passer, or even the budding scoring ability of Pacome Dadiet, it is worth recognizing what this year’s crop of teenage talent brings to the table in the EuroCup even if they are only scratching the surface of the players they will become. History suggests they’re the future.

Forward DJ Seeley is having a career season in the BKT EuroCup with U-BT Cluj-Napoca, and the last game against 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys was just the last chapter of that story... for now.

Seeley seals instant classic in Cluj

U-BT Cluj-Napoca and 7bet-Lietkabelis delivered an instant classic game in Round 9 of the BKT EuroCup Regular Season. It was a back-and-forth scoring battle in which Cluj forward D.J. Seeley made the difference down the stretch.

[Cluj beat Lietkabelis 120-111 in overtime](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/2023-24/u-bt-cluj-napoca-7bet-lietkabelis-panevezys/U2023/89/). Both teams set new EuroCup club records for most points in the competition. Cluj had never reached 100 points before this game and it went to 120, the seventh-best scoring mark in competition history and the highest in almost six years, since LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne beat Dreamland Gran Canaria 128-129 in triple overtime on December 27, 2017.

Both teams combined for 231 points, tying the fourth-best mark in competition history. The game became the highest scoring one ever with just one overtime: all games tied or ahead of it had two extra times or more.

In the end, it came down to Seeley's inspiration to take the game to overtime and win it.

Seeley finished the game with 25 points but scored 16 of those in the final 2 minutes of regulation and overtime. When he returned to the game, Cluj led 76-65 but Lietkabelis rallied within 89-87 in the next-to-last minute of regulation. Seeley buried a three-pointer but Gediminas Orelik and Gabrielius Maldunas tied the game, 92-92. Seeley hit free throws and struck again from downtown, 97-94. Deividas Sirvydis drew a foul while taking a three-point shot and hit all attempts to send the game to overtime.

U-BT Cluj-Napoca guard D.J. Seeley  led his team to a 120-111 overtime win over 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys with 25 points.

Seeley makes the difference against Lietkabelis

Far from being done, Seeley made sure his team won the game. With the game tied at 104-104, Seeley fed Adam Mokoka for a three-pointer, and went on to drew a foul and calmly make free throws. When Orelik buried his fourth three-pointer, Seeley immediately answered from downtown for a 112-107 Cluj lead with less than 2 minutes remaining. From that moment, the hosts were well on their way to record their seventh victory.

"It was tough. That's a tough team and we knew that they always come back in the fourth quarter," Seeley said after the game. "They always come back, no matter if they are down by 15, we knew we just had to stay with it, and that's what we did. Coming back from last game, we needed a win."

Seeley hit 5 of 6 three-pointers and 8 of 9 free throws on his way to 25 points, a new season-high and close to his best scoring night in the competition: 29 points with Buducnost VOLI Podgorica in a 60-89 road win over Promitheas Patras on December 8, 2021.

This season, Seeley leads Cluj in scoring (16.0 ppg.) and PIR (14.6). Above all, Cluj finishes his first EuroCup campaign with a 5-13 record and out of the playoffs last season. With Seeley leading the team, Cluj is 7-2 and looking ahead to the second part of the regular season.

Round 9 roll call: Stars and role players left their marks

### Niziol set career-highs to lead Slask

Forward [Jakub Niziol](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jakub-niziol/005531/) led Slask Wroclaw to a historic road win at Turk Telekom Ankara on Tuesday in which he set career-highs in scoring and three-pointers made with 25 and 4, respectively. He produced a steady supply of offense all game long, netting 12 first-half points and 13 after the break. A week after he scored 21 in a loss, Niziol upped his game to help Slask win its first EuroCup game in nearly a year and its first road game since December 2007. 

### Ribas rocked in the third quarter

[Pau Ribas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/pau-ribas/jug/) has done a thing or two in the eight seasons and 106 games he has played in the EuroCup. But rarely has he ever had a quarter like the one he put together after halftime on Wednesday for Joventut Badalona against Prometey Slobozhanske. The 36-year-old guard did not miss a shot as he sank 4 three-pointers and 2 free throws, all in the third quarter. He also recorded his only 2 assists of the game in that period. All told, he had a hand in 18 of Joventut's 29 points that quarter as it erased an 8-point halftime deficit to get back in the game. 

BIg third quarter for Pau Ribas

### Conti filled a key role for Trento 

[Luca Conti](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/luca-conti/007828/) chimed in with his best game of the season on Wednesday to help Dolomiti Energia Trento edge Aris Midea Thessaloniki 69-67. The 22-year-old guard played a season-high 19:25 minutes and contributed 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal for a performance index rating of 12. The rebounds and PIR were also season-bests and the steal was his first of the campaign. Conti scored all of his points in the fourth quarter, too, making key contributions to help Trento take a step forward in the playoff race.  

### Cate rolled to career-best 20 points

[Emanuel Cate](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/emanuel-cate/005373/) set a EuroCup career-high in scoring with 20 points to help U-BT Cluj Napoca overcome 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys in overtime on Wednesday. While he certainly had the hot hand, Cate did not allow his success to change his effective mode of play. The big man took all of his shots from the paint, hardly ever more than a meter from the rim. Cate made 9 of 10 two-point shots for the game. He also had a +/- of plus-10, while contributing 4 rebounds and 1 block for a season-best PIR of 21. It was a true special effort for the big man.

### Klepeisz ignited Ulm's offense in defeat

ratiopharm Ulm suffered its first home defeat of the season, an 84-89 decision against JL Mincidelice Bourg en Bresse, but not without a fight. Ulm got big contribution [from its young guns](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/eurocup-prodigies-stole-the-spotlight-zaccharie-risacher-pacome-dadiet-juan-nunez/), but also one seasoned veteran, [Thomas Klepeisz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/thomas-klepeisz/010582/). The 32-year-old guard scored a game-high 20 points, netting a career-best tying 5 triples on 7 attempts. With Ulm down 23 points at halftime, Klepeisz scored 14 points after the break and was a big reason Ulm got back in the game, although the hosts ultimately came up short in their comeback attempt. Klepeisz also had 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds for a PIR of 26.

A career-best performance in yet another winning effort has seen Conor Morgan of the London Lions earn Round 9 MVP honors in the 2023-24 BKT EuroCup Regular Season. His personal-best PIR of 36 was the highest among all EuroCup players this week.

[Conor Morgan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/conor-morgan/009680/) led London to [a convincing 87-101 win over Wolves Vilnius](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/2023-24/wolves-vilnius-london-lions/U2023/84/) with 36 PIR, which shattered his previous-best mark. In 67 previous EuroCup games, Morgan had never reached a PIR higher than 21. Against the Wolves, he had 22 points on 2-of-2 two-pointers, 5-of-8 three-pointers and 3-of-3 free throws, as well as 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 7 fouls drawn. He is the third-ever London player to earn MVP of the Round honors after [Ovie Soko](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/round-2-tri-mvps-ovie-soko-joe-young-jcovan-brown/) and [Matt Morgan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/eurocup-basketball-round-2-mvp-matthew-morgan-london-lions/).

[Deividas Sirvydis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/deividas-sirvydis/007029/) of 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys amassed a PIR of 34 in [his team's 120-111 overtime loss against U-BT Cluj-Napoca](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/2023-24/u-bt-cluj-napoca-7bet-lietkabelis-panevezys/U2023/89/). Sirvydis had 29 points on 5-of-8 two-pointers, 3-of-4 three-pointers and 10-of-10 free throws. He added 4 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and 6 fouls drawn. [Ronnie Harrell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/harrell-ronnie/012716/) of Aris Egalis Thessaloniki and [Marco Spissu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/marco-spissu/004381/) of Umana Reyer Venice each had a PIR of 32 in Round 9. Zaccharie Risacher, Pacome Dadiet and Juan Nunez, three of the most promising players in Europe, all impressed during ratiopharm Ulm and JL Bourg's EuroCup clash in Round 9 of the 2023-24 season.

EuroCup prodigies Risacher, Dadiet and Nunez stole the spotlight

An exciting [BKT EuroCup clash between ratiopharm Ulm and Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/jl-bourg-holds-on-to-beat-ratiopharm-ulm-84-89-on-the-road/) took place at ratiopharm arena on Wednesday night. In particular, it was an occasion for three future stars to make an impact: Ulm duo [Pacome Dadiet](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/pacome-dadiet/011457/) and [Juan Nunez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/juan-nunez/010106/) and Bourg’s [Zaccharie Risacher](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/zaccharie-risacher/010718/).

Despite Bourg taking a 33-53 lead into the second half, Ulm fought back and took the game right down to the wire, with the guests eventually coming out on top, 84-89.  

### NBA teams sent scouts to Ulm vs. Bourg

Before the game, Ulm’s managing director Thomas Stoll confirmed on social media that two thirds of the NBA’s 30 teams sent representatives to attend the game. Why? Well, that’s obvious. They wanted to get a glimpse of Dadiet, Nunez and Risacher, three of the most promising players in European basketball.

They are unlikely to have come away disappointed, either, as all three ended up delivering mature displays on the floor for their respective teams.

### Risacher shined for Bourg… again

Risacher was one of Bourg’s outstanding players on the night, ending the game with 17 points. The 18-year-old forward went 4-for-5 (80.0%) from beyond the arc, including a late dagger with 01:06 remaining to make it 79-85 for the guests.

Standing 2.06 meters tall, Risacher has made 18 of 29 triples this season. His 62.1% success rater from downtown is the best mark in the EuroCup for players who have featured in six games or more so far. Despite his young age, Risacher is the top scorer for 7-2 Bourg, with an average of 13.4 points this term.

Having recorded double figures in scoring in seven of his team’s nine games, Risacher has proven that he has what it takes to become a difference-maker in the future.

### Dadiet, Nunez showed what they can do

Ulm, meanwhile, may have lost Wednesday’s game, but its third loss of the season comes with a few positives. The hosts showed character and even made it a one-possession game late in the final quarter thanks to extraordinary outings by Dadiet and Nunez, who stepped up in the second half.

Notably, the 18-year-old Dadiet scored 9 of his 14 points in the last quarter to inspire Ulm’s heroic comeback attempt. He provided his team with a much-needed energy boost and made a couple of baskets, including a ferocious dunk in transition, before drilling a triple to make it 67-73 with 6:30 remaining.

Heading into crunch time, that’s when Nunez took charge. The 19-year-old guard stole the ball with 02:54 to go (74-79), although Thomas Klepeisz didn’t manage to hit the resulting three-pointer. After Risacher nailed the aforementioned dagger (79-85), Nunez didn’t give up and responded with a three-point play on the other end.

The Spaniard, who ranks fourth overall with 2.1 steals per game, registered his second steal a few seconds later, but Karim Jallow didn’t manage to keep hold of the ball on the break. With just 13 seconds remaining and Bourg leading 84-87, Nunez stepped up to take a triple that could have sent the game to overtime.

However, Nunez missed his effort from downtown, leaving him on 11 points for the night, as Bourg escaped with its first-ever victory against Ulm after four straight losses.

The French side did grab a well-earned victory, but the spotlight on Wednesday night was stolen by three players who could mark an era in European basketball: Risacher, Dadiet and Nunez.
