With James Palmer, Ismail Cem Ulusoy and Mehmet Yagmur sidelined, Coach Ernak Selcuk knew his team's depth was going to be an issue. And accordingly, Landesberg came in fresh to start the second quarter with his team down 24-15 and erupted for 12 points in the next 10 minutes as Gran Canaria took the lead for good.

### Landesberg took charge against his former team

The game was Landesberg's first against Turk Telekom since he played for the team during the 2018-19 season. The former EuroLeague champ averaged 17.5 points that season.

"This was a really big win for us to keep our momentum going. We needed it. They are a really talented team," Landesberg said after the game. "Just being able to come out here and play at a really high level that we all did as a team, it was a big win for us."

### Turk Telekom suffered without full roster

Four Turk Telekom starters featured for at least 30 minutes and only one reserve, Yigitan Saybir, played more than 10 minutes. Saybir contributed 6 points and 5 rebounds in 25 minutes.

"We were tired. We don’t have the rotation and our players were tired. When they lose their rhythm, they can’t continue at the same level of defense...  When the guys get tired, we have to react better," Selcuk said after the game. "We have to get healthy. We have too many guards out and we need their support."

Five Gran Canaria reserves played at least 15 minutes and in the end, the reserves also outscored (46-36) and outrebounded (24-14) the team's starters. Those big contributions from players like Landesberg, Prkacin, Ferran Bassas, Miquel Salvo and Ben Lammers made all the difference as the reigning champs remained undefeated on the season and atop the Group A standings.

The visitors' second unit outscored their counterparts 46-7.

Wolves trailed 40-41 at halftime, having been outrebounded 20-14 by the visitors, who also dished out more assists (12-9) in the first half.

Prometey’s unselfish approach countered a heroic one-man effort by Sulaimon, who sank 17 points in the opening half (14 in the first quarter) with his teammates struggling to make shots outside the paint.

### A different story after the break

Then the third quarter produced an entirely different script as Wolves went on a 17-4 run and never looked back, with Sulaimon again at the heart of the home team’s drive. He scored 8 points in the third period, with Wolves swinging the balance in the paint and dishing out assists like confetti, resulting in a 68-57 advantage heading into the fourth.

Prometey fought hard to stay in the game, but the visitors were unable to get back within striking distance. In the end, they were outrebounded 36-35 as Wolves racked up a staggering 17 offensive boards to the visiting team’s 11, ultimately producing a barrage of second-chance possessions.

After kickstarting a playoff-challenge with two straight victories, Wolves attempt to land three in a row against a Prometey outfit striving for consistency, despite holding the highest number of rebounds in the competition. ### Rebounding and limiting turnovers

Wolves also had more assists (18-17) on the final buzzer, with Sulaimon sinking 6 of the home side’s 11 three-pointers. Just as crucially, Wolves committed much fewer turnovers (7-15).

“We played a great game, especially in the second half,” Wolves head coach Kestutis Kemzura said during the post-game press conference. “Credit to the players, they did a great job defensively.

“The other key was offensive rebounding. We knew before the game that Prometey was the best rebounding team in the EuroCup and we controlled the boards this evening.

“The other one was the turnovers. We only had 7 and forced 15 from them, which helped us control the fastbreaks. The energy, effort and passion shown by our team was exceptional.”

The 29-year-old poured in 30 points and dished 7 assists, while Christian Mekowulu chipped in with 15 points for the home team. Treshawn Thurman added 13 points for Wolves. At the other end, Marcus Keene paced Prometey with 17 points, while Caleb Agada and Ondrej Baldvin netted 10 each for the visitors. Prometey slipped to 2-4 and now faces an uphill battle to secure a post-season berth.

### Sulaimon carries Wolves early

A slow start by both sides soon made way for some delightful end-to-end action, with Sulaimon acting as a one-man army for Wolves in the first quarter. He scored 14 points in the opening 10 minutes to compensate for his team’s lack of cohesion, while Prometey shared the ball and the workload on offense, with the rivals tied 24-24 heading into the second period.

The second quarter produced a more physical battle and baskets became harder to come by. The visitors had ground out a 40-41 lead at halftime, having dominated assists (12-9) and rebounds (20-14) while containing Sulaimon to just 3 points.

### Third-quarter run proves decisive

However, the tide turned in the third as the home team found an extra gear and engineered a 17-4 run which gave Wolves the lead for good. Sulaimon then came up with a pair of sublime 3-point plays, drawing fouls on both occasions as he drove to the basket around his markers. Mekowulu joined the party and there was no way back for the visitors, who trailed 68-57 heading into the final period.

Any hopes of a comeback Prometey might have had were vanquished after Sulaimon hit another three-pointer and then a mid-range jumper, putting the icing on the cake for Wolves.

The guard put on a one-man show to steer the home side to victory.

U-BT Cluj-Napoca kept up its early-season momentum on Wednesday evening by downing ratiopharm Ulm 86-75 in Round 6 of the 2023-24 BKT EuroCup Regular Season. As a result of this triumph, Cluj moved to an impressive 5-1 record in the [Group B standings](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/standings/), whereas Ulm dropped to 4-2.

D.J. Seeley paced Cluj with a game-high 21 points, of which 14 came in an electrifying first 20 minutes for the home team. Karel Guzman also chipped in with 16 points, while Emanuel Cate and Adam Mokoka added 12 apiece. In a losing effort, Ulm center Trevion Williams had a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double, Juan Nunez scored 14 points and Thomas Klepeisz contributed 12.

### Seeley led the way for Cluj

In a meeting between the fourth-best offense (Ulm) and third-best defense (Cluj), the game got off to a slow start. However, Seeley’s triple opened the first double-digit lead of the game, 16-6, with just over 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The American guard was very impressive for Wednesday’s hosts, ending with a first-quarter tally of 12 points, which included 7 free-throw makes from 8 attempts, as Cluj led 26-14 after the first 10 minutes.

### Cluj put its foot on the gas

Cate kept the Cluj train rolling in the second quarter with back-to-back layups, before baskets from Bryce Jones and Guzman made it an 8-2 run to start the period, 36-16. While Ulm looked lost at sea on both offense and defense, Cluj was well and truly in the groove, maintaining a 20-point lead or more thanks to 3 triples from Jarell Eddie and more excellent play from Guzman. With 1:06 remaining before halftime, Guzman brought out his showtime moves with an incredible 360-degree dunk to make it a 47-21 ballgame and wow the home fans. Despite a late fightback from Ulm, Jones’s layup made it 51-24 at the break.

### Ulm had a third-quarter fightback

Cluj had a 27-point advantage entering the second half, but it seemed to lose its intensity on both ends of the floor as a result of that. Pacome Dadiet had a quick 4 points for Ulm, which then had L.J. Figueroa score a layup off a steal to make it a 0-6 run, the visitors’ biggest of the game to that point, 51-30. There was still a long way back for Ulm, but it played more like the Ulm we have become accustomed to seeing and cut the gap to 12 points, 58-46, following a 7-22 streak that was capped off by a Dakota Mathias triple. However, an unsportsmanlike foul called on Nunez seemed to rally the Cluj players, who managed to close the quarter ahead by 16, 64-48.

### A battle that went to the final minutes

Ulm clearly had its tail up after an impressive third quarter, but Cluj seemed to have an answer most of the way. It seemed as though the hosts might be able to coast to a win after making it a 21-point ballgame, 71-50, 80 seconds into the final period, but Ulm used the threeball to its advantage as they trimmed the difference to 9, 73-64, thanks to 4 triples and a layup by Williams. That gap dropped to 7 points, 73-66, after a Nunez layup, with 3:43 left, but Seeley stepped up with a deep two and a three that beat the shot-clock buzzer to give Cluj breathing room, 82-69. Several foul shots followed, but Cluj was able to celebrate early as it came away with an 86-76 victory.

Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul remained on the heels of the top teams in Group A as it ground out a 90-78 home victory over winless Veolia Towers Hamburg. Besiktas improved to 5-1 - and 4-0 at home - after a 21-8 deciding run in the fourth quarter of a game that featured 20 lead changes and 14 ties.

Angel Delgado collected his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds to pace six Besiktas scorers in double figures. Derek Needham scored 15 points with 4 assists, Jonah Mathews had 12 points and Kerem Konan, Matt Mitchell and Yigit Arslan all chipped in 10 points. Hamburg is still looking for its first victory at 0-6 despite Aleksander Dziewa scoring 21 points and VJ King contributing 14 points.

### Both teams were on fire at the start 

The offenses started on fire with the teams scoring on 10 of the first 11 combined possessions and Besiktas leading 11-10 after 4 minutes and Needham scoring 5 points for the hosts. King had 7 points at the other end including a three-pointer to make it 13-15. The back and forth continued with Konan scoring 8 points - already doubling his previous scoring high - for a 25-24 lead. That was the score after 10 minutes which included 10 lead changes and 9 ties.

### The big men take center stage

The Besiktas offense struggled to score early in the second quarter and saw Hamburg lead 25-28 nearly 3 minutes into the frame. But Hamburg could not handle Delgado as the Besiktas big man moved to 6 fouls drawn, and Besiktas finally scored again with a 7-0 run over 4 minutes for a 32-28 cushion. Two Hamburg three-pointers evened the game at 34-34 and the guests were back ahead 39-40 with Dziewa at 13 points. Besiktas answered with the next 6 points and led 48-42 for the biggest lead of the first half, which ended with Hamburg down 48-44.

Besiktas scored the first 3 points of the second half for a 51-44 advantage. Aljami Durham connected on a three-pointer to pull Hamburg within 53-49 only to have Needham answer from deep at the other end and Mitchell extended the cushion to 58-49. Hamburg would not go away and took the lead on Lukas Meisner’s three-pointer for 62-63. And Hamburg led 64-65 after 30 minutes.

### The fourth quarter was all Besiktas

Delgado continued to bully his way against Hamburg with a three-point play to give Besiktas back the lead. The hosts’ defense managed some defensive stops and Arslan and Needham drained triples and Delgado added a free throw for a 78-69 cushion with 6 minutes left. Besiktas finally notched its first double-digit lead with Needham hitting his fourth triple to make it 83-72 with under 4 minutes remaining. Mathews downed the dagger triple with 2 minutes to go and Besiktas up 88-75.

Hosts retained their perfect record in Istanbul thanks to big fourth quarter.

In a rematch of last season's championship game, Gran Canaria came out flat and trailed 24-15 after 10 minutes, but once it got going there was no stopping the visitors.

Sylven Landesberg came off the bench to score 20 points in 19 minutes to lead Gran Canaria against his former team. Nicolas Brussino added 8 points and 7 assists for the victors. The win was Gran Canaria's 14th in a row in the EuroCup and improved its record to 6-0 this season.  

Turk Telekom suffered its fourth consecutive loss and dropped to 1-4 on the season. Jalen Adams led the hosts with 15 points, Steven Enoch posted 14 points and 11 rebounds and Tyrone Wallace and Markis McDuffie netted 12 points apiece.

### Ulubay's shooting sparks Turk Telekom

The hosts used an early timeout after Ethan Happ scored inside twice to give Gran Canaria a 2-4 lead. Turk Telekom regrouped through Adams from deep and Enoch with a three-point play to lead 8-7. The teams traded shots and it was even, 11-11, after 5 minutes thanks to Andrew Albicy free throws. Okben Ulubay heated up from deep and his third triple of the quarter pushed the hosts to a 20-15 lead. McDuffie added to the lead with a put-back and Wallace beat the buzzer for a 24-15 cushion after 10 minutes.

### Landesberg fuels Gran Canaria comeback

Landesberg drilled a three for Gran Canaria on the first possession of the second quarter. He added a jumper before a Ferran Bassas triple drew the visitors within 30-27 midway through the quarter. Landesberg remained locked in with a pair of free throws and a three to tie the game at 32-32. His 12th point of the quarter, via Albicy’s steal, completed the comeback at 36-38. A three by Adams kept it close, 42-43, at the break.

### Visitors pull away after the break

Brussino buried a three to cap a 0-7 Gran Canaria run to open the second half. Adams connected from deep to make it 48-53 midway through the third quarter. Albicy and Ben Lammers teamed up to extend the margin to 9. Enoch helped the host reduce the deficit to 53-60 with 10 minutes remaining.

Landesberg extended the margin to double figures with his third triple of the game. Turk Telekom chipped away at the deficit, but Pierre Pelos answered back with a three. Pelos added a three-point play and Miquel Salvo a layup as Gran Canaria continued to pad the lead. A three by Salvo silenced the crowd at 59-76. Turk Telekom did not throw in the towel and fought to within 67-78, but the outcome was never in doubt.

After struggling in the opening quarter, the champs took charge for a road win to remain undefeated.

Aris trailed by as many as 16 points before halftime, but never gave up, stuck to a zone defense that collapsed Buducnost's offense and managed to come back with a 0-12 run in the last period before Dimitris Katsivelis hit the winning free throw with 2 seconds to go. Roberto Gallinat paced Aris with 15 points and Kristeon Bankston posted 14 points and 6 boards. The win improved Aris's record to 3-3. Buducnost was led by Yoan Makoundou's 20 points as it slipped to 2-4.

Trento extended its winning streak to three games by defeating Slask on Wednesday. The visitors outscored Slask 16-19 in the first quarter, but the hosts bounced back and took a 39-36 lead into the second half. Trento responded with a 0-12 run in the third quarter and managed to stay ahead until the final whistle. The guests improved to 3-3, while Slask dropped to 0-6. Kamar Baldwin paced Trento with 17 points and 5 assists. For Slask, Dusan Miletic registered a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Paris slowed down visiting Hapoel to register an impressive victory in the highly-anticipated battle of undefeated teams in Group A. Paris took control of the game with a 33-point second quarter and never looked back in moving to 6-0 while Hapoel suffered its first loss to drop to 4-1. Collin Malcolm led the Paris attack with 23 points and Tyson Ward had 20. Paris set club records with 114 points, 19 three-pointers and a performance index rating of 140. Jaylen Hoard tallied 20 points for Hapoel, which had been ranked first in scoring at 101.5 points per game but was missing All-EuroCup playmaker J’Covan Brown for the game.

London roared to a brilliant victory at last season’s EuroCup semifinalist Joventut as Gabe Olaseni produced an effervescent performance for the visitors with 21 points and 9 rebounds. A balanced Lions effort saw Matthew Morgan chip in with 15 points. At the other end, Andrew Andrews paced Joventut with 20 points and 7 assists and Deshaun Thomas added 17 points and 8 rebounds. The Lions improved to 4-2 in a fiercely competitive group while Joventus slipped to 3-3 amid a patchy start to its EuroCup campaign.

Lietkabelis used a first-quarter blitz to take control for good and held off a late Bourg charge to prevail 100-96 on Tuesday night at Kalnapilio Arena in the first game of Round 6 in the BKT EuroCup. With the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, looking on, Lietkabelis put a three-game losing streak to bed in improving to 2-4 on the season. Deividas Sirvydis starred with 27 points, including 11-of-11 free-throw shooting, to lead the winners and Gediminas Orelik added 18 of which 8 came in the final 4 minutes. Teenage sensation Zaccharie Risacher scored 18 for Bourg, which dropped to 4-2 in Group B.

Reyer trailed by as many as 12 in the fourth quarter, but led by Rayjon Tucker rallied late to beat Cedevita on Tuesday at Palasport Taliercio. The victory lifted Reyer's record to 2-4 on the season, while winless Cedevita dropped its 11th consecutive game dating back to last season. The score was 70-81 when Aamir Simms scored 4 points in a 9-0 run that turned the game around. Tucker scored 13 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead triple with 1:24 remaining. Barry Brown led six Reyer scorers in double figures with 21 points. Amadou Sow and Jaka Blazic paced Cedevita with 16 points each.

Not many teams have performed better than U-BT Cluj-Napoca and ratiopharm Ulm in the first five weeks of the new BKT EuroCup campaign, as they enter their Group B Round 6 head-to-head clash both sporting a 4-1 record in a share of second place.

Cluj, Ulm clash in unlikely strength-on-strength derby

Before the 2023-24 season tipped off, it would have been hard for one to argue that Round 6 derby in Group B would be a clash between U-BT Cluj-Napoca and ratiopharm Ulm. This notion would have been based on their performances last season, which was Cluj's first in the competition, as well as a lack of traditional rivalry between the clubs.

However, not many teams have performed better than these two in the first five weeks of the new campaign, as they enter their head-to-head clash both sporting a 4-1 record in a [share of second place](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/standings/).

### Short rotation working for Cluj

While it might not be much of a surprise to see head coach Anton Gavel's Ulm, last year's EuroCup quarterfinalists and the reigning German champion, near the top of Group B standings, for Cluj, it's a night-and-day difference from last season.

Cluj did not pick up its fourth win of the season until early March and Round 15 last season, which led to the team being one of only four teams in the competition missing the playoffs. This season, its only loss in five games so far has been a 4-point defeat against a fellow 4-1 side, JL Mincidelice Bourg en Bresse.

So far, head Coach Mihail Silvasan has been using a nine-man rotation that has allowed third fewest points (72.6 ppg.), and held teams to just 15.6 assists per game, second fewest through five rounds.

Meanwhile, veterans [D.J. Seeley](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/dennis-seeley/004862/) (13.6 ppg.) and [Andrija Stipanovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/andrija-stipanovic/005113/) (12.8 ppg., 4.8 rpg.) have paced a balanced offense that has seven players average 7.0 points or more.  Alongside Seeley, fellow newcomers [Jerrell Eddie](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jarell-eddie/010569/) (9.8 ppg., 4.2 rpg.) and [Bryce Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/bryce-jones-jr/012621/) (8.4 ppg., 4.4 rpg., 4.2 apg.) have both given a significant contribution, making a big difference compared to last season.

### Can Jallow get hot again?

Cluj hopes that will all help to have a different outcome against Ulm compared to a season ago, when it got swept in their two regular-season clashes.

At BT-Arena, the same venue where this game will take place, in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs, Ulm rallied from a second-half double-digit deficit to an [81-84 win](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/2022-23/u-bt-cluj-napoca-ratiopharm-ulm/U2022/82/#boxscore) behind [Robin Christen](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/robin-christen/011188/) and [Karim Jallow](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/karim-jallow/005422/) who combined for 47 points. Christen had 26 points and was 10-for-10 from the field in that game, and Jallow scored 21 points with 4 rebounds and a career-high 4 steals, all while hitting a game-deciding basket.

And while Christen is yet to play this season, Jallow arrives red-hot into his clash, having posted 23 points with 4 rebounds in last week's [108-103 overtime win](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/2023-24/ratiopharm-ulm-slask-wroclaw/U2023/48/) over Slask Wroclaw, and has followed it up with a 17-point effort over the weekend in the German League action.

Last year at BT-Arena, Karim Jallow scored 21 points with 4 rebounds and a career-high 4 steals, all while hitting a game-deciding basket.

Ulm, unlike Cluj, has made the playoffs last season and reached the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year, before going to win its first domestic league crown.

### Contributors aplenty

There was a good amount of uncertainty around Ulm before this season because of summer departure of several key protagonists. But Coach Gavel has had no trouble getting his offense to click, as it is averaging fourth-best 92.0 points and second-most 22.4 assists going into Round 6.

Ulm has five players scoring in double figures, led by [Dakota Mathis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/dakota-mathias/012629/) (18.0 ppg.). [Trevion Williams](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/trevion-lamon-williams-/012604/) (13.8 ppg.) is EuroCup's rebounding leader (11.5 rpg.) and while [Georginho De Paula](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/georginho-de-paula-/012703/) (12.4 ppg., 5.2 apg.) is one of three Ulm players averaging at least more than 4.0 assists, along with [Juan Nunez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/juan-nunez/010106/) (4.3 apg.) and [Thomas Klepeisz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/thomas-klepeisz/010582/) (4.0 apg.).

Behind such offense, Ulm will be aiming at its fourth consecutive win, but Cluj is determined to use its defense, and home-crowd support, to keep its perfect 3-0 home record intact. A strength-vs-strength derby, a game you don't want to miss on Wednesday night.

Umana Reyer Venezia guard Rayjon Tucker played some of his best basketball down the stretch to lift his team to a come-from-behind victory over Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana.

Playing in Europe for the first time is never easy for any player. Often, newcomers might struggle to find consistency. However, one way to know if you have a special player is to see how great he can be in his best moments.

For Umana Reyer Venice guard [Rayjon Tucker](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/rayjon-tucker/012591/), his performance in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's come-from-behind victory over Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana was proof of just how much of a difference-maker he can be. Tucker scored 13 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as Reyer erased a 12-point deficit to win the game 95-87.

Tucker was at the heart of the comeback. When he raced down the floor for a dunk a minute into the fourth quarter, it showed that he was not ready to give in even though Cedevita was up by 10. Tucker's first three-pointer of the night capped a 9-0 run that made it 79-81 with 5 minutes to go.

His next triple was the go-ahead basket to make it 87-84. Down the stretch, Tucker added a game-clinching slam and 2 more free throws.

All of this came one week after Tucker slumped to a season-low 3 points on 1-of-7 shooting in a 74-68 road loss at Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul.

Against Cedevita, Tucker led his team in minutes played with 32:08 as well as in +/- with plus-17.  That means in the nearly 8 minutes in which Tucker was on the bench, Cedevita outscored Reyer by 10 points!

Tucker's shooting and athleticism were on full display in the fourth quarter as all of his baskets were momentum-shifting plays.

In addition to his 19 points, Tucker tied his season-high with 6 rebounds and set a new personal best with a performance index rating of 21. He raised his season averages to 13.5 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Reyer is now on the cusp of the playoff zone in Group A and heads into a pair of road games at Wolves Vilnius and Prometey Slobozhanske. Wins in those games could dramatically boost Reyer's standing in the group. If Reyer gets the version of Rayjon Tucker we all saw in the fourth quarter on Tuesday for those games, it will be a formidable opponent.
