### A breakout in the ANGT

Sirvydis proved himself to be a top talent in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament as he led U18 Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius to the 2018 crown with a victory over Stellazzurra Rome in the championship game. [He was named tournament MVP](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/ngt/news/rytas-guard-sirvydis-named-angt-mvp/) after he averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals in the finals. Before that, he was the MVP at the ANGT Kaunas qualifying event, too.

Already that season Sirvydis broke into Rytas's senior team and made a pair of appearances in the EuroCup. The following season, he was already a rotation player and started in 11 of his 17 games played. Over 35 games in three EuroCup seasons with Rytas, Sirvydis made 40 of his 96 three-point attempts (41.7%) while averaging 5.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 14:07 minutes. He also helped Rytas win the 2019 Lithuanian Cup.

### Moving abroad

Sirvydis first went abroad to play in Israel for Hapoel Jerusalem in 2020 when the Israeli League season resumed following the COVID-19 pandemic. He also played for the club in the Basketball Champions League. Then, the Detroit Pistons, who had selected Sirvydis in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft, signed him to a multi-year deal. Sirvydis played in 20 games for Detroit in the 2020-21 campaign and 3 the following season. He also played 21 games for Detroit's G-League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise.

Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv has a familiar face back on its roster with the return of point guard Yonatan Rabinowitz on a one-year deal the club announced Thursday. Rabinowitz (1.88 meters, 25 years old) split time with Flyers Wels and Dukes Klostenburg, both of Austria last season. He averaged 3.9 points, 2.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds over 26 combined Austrian League appearances.

Rabinowitz now returns to the club where he grew up, and was a captain of its youth category teams. He made his professional debut there in the 2015-16 season as a 17-year old. Since then, he also played for Ramat Hasharon, Hapoel Saba/Shalom, Maccabi Hod Hasharon, Elitzur Kiryat Ata and Maccabi Ma'ale Adumim, all Israeli lower division teams, before moving to play in Austria last season.

Rabinowitz has also been a member of the Israeli youth national teams and won a silver medal at the U20 European championships in 2017. He will now have the chance to make his BKT EuroCup debut.

Stephens (1.96 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Crailsheim where he posted 8.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and German League fifth-best 1.1 blocks last season.

After four years at Princeton University, Stephens started his pr career in 2018 with Oldenburg in German second division. Since then he spent a season with Salon Vilpas in Finalnd and one with Mechelen in Belgium. Stephens is now set to make his BKT EuroCup debut.

Carr posted 15.9 points, 4.1 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals, leading Texas to the Elite Eight phase of the NCAA tournament, and winning the conference title this past spring. Carr played a total of five seasons of college basketball. He played as a freshmen at University of Pittsburgh in 2017-18, before transferring to University of Minnesota where in the 2020-21 campaign he averaged 19.4 points. He is now set to get tested on the professional level and in the BKT EuroCup.

Last season, Shorts helped lead the way as Bonn made it to the 2022-23 German League finals, posting 18.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 43 games. In Paris, he will reunite with ex-Bonn head coach Tuomas Iisalo, who made the same move to the French capital this summer. Shorts is the sixth player from last year's Bonn team to follow Coach Iisalo to Paris, following Michael Kessens, Leon Kratzer, Tyson Ward, Sebastian Herrera and Collin Malcolm.

### An opening-night test at home

Cluj's season will get underway with a test against last season's runners-up. Last season Cluj was 4-5 at home and beat Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana by 18 in its home opener. Before that, it led by double figures in the fourth quarter on opening night at Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse before faltering. What better way to prove Cluj has what it takes to compete for a spot in the elimination rounds this season than by topping a tough Turk Telekom side in Round 1? Interestingly, Cluj forward Jarell Eddie averaged 16 points and 4.5 three-pointers for Konyaspor against Turk Telekom last season in the Turkish League.

### Facing Ulm for the third time

The first team to ever visit Cluj twice in the EuroCup will be ratiopharm Ulm. In the first visit, in December of last season, Cluj led by as many as 15 in the third quarter and 10 entering the fourth before a fervent Ulm rally. Teenager Juan Nunez sank the game-winning three-pointer with 11.5 seconds remaining. A first-ever victory over German side could go a long way in boosting Cluj as it aims to reach the knockout stage for the first time in club history.

### Seeley leads the team into Gran Canaria

This season will mark D.J. Seeley's seventh in the EuroCup and Cluj is his sixth different team. He played more EuroCup games with Gran Canaria than with any other team and in Round 17 he will be a visitor to the island for just the second time. In the first, he dropped 19 points with Buducnost VOLI Podgorica two years ago. This time Gran Canaria is the defending champion and this Round 17 fixture could be pivotal for both teams in the playoff hunt.

Defending BKT EuroCup champion Dreamland Gran Canaria turned to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for its next center by signing [Ben Lammers](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/ben-lammers/profile/010385/) for the coming season. Lammers (2.08 meters, 27 years old) arrives from ALBA Berlin, where he spent the last three seasons. He averaged 7.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks over 81 EuroLeague games – including 53 as a starter – over that span. Lammers is fifth in the EuroLeague with 81 blocks over the last three seasons. He also won a pair of German League championships and one German Cup in his time in Berlin.

Coming off a debut in which he ranked fourth among Turkish Airlines EuroLeague shot-blockers, center Ben Lammers is looking to take ALBA Berlin higher in the 2021-22 season.

Lammers played college basketball at Georgia Tech where he was the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. He began his professional career in Spain with Bilbao Basket in the second division in the 2018-19 season. After helping Bilbao get promoted in their first season together, he spent one more season there before joining ALBA.
