Veolia Towers Hamburg announced on Wednesday that it has signed point guard Terrell Gomez for the coming season. Gomez (1.73 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Saint-Quentin, which he helped to the French second division ProB championship last season.

Veolia Towers Hamburg announced on Wednesday that it has signed point guard Terrell Gomez for the coming season. Gomez (1.73 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Saint-Quentin, which he helped to the French second division ProB championship last season with 12.4 points on 43.5% three-point shooting and 4.9 assists over 34 games.

After playing college basketball at Cal State Northridge and San Diego State, Gomez began his professional career in 2021 in the second division in Turkey with Bursa. He then joined JDA Dijon in France later that season. Gomez will make his BKT EuroCup debut this season with Hamburg.

Joel Parra was one of Joventut's star performers in the EuroCup last season, posting 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and a 14.4 PIR across 21 games, so his move to FC Barcelona left a big hole to be filled. With Joventut having signed Andrew Andrews in its backcourt, Thomas now arrives as a ready-made replacement for Parra at the 4 position. Although his numbers were lower than usual last year, Thomas was able to average 9.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and a 7.9 PIR in 36 EuroLeague games for FC Bayern Munich in the 2021-22 season. In his 219-game EuroLeague career, his averages stand at 9.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and an 8.0 PIR.

### Deshaun Thomas's career so far

 

Thomas started his professional career with French side Nanterre in the 2013-14 season, in which he made both his EuroLeague and EuroCup debuts. From there, his EuroLeague career saw him play for FC Barcelona (2014-15), Anadolu Efes Istanbul (2016-17), Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv (2017-18), Panathinaikos Athens (2018-20), Bayern (2021-22) and Milan (2022-23).

Thomas has also suited up for the Austin Spurs in the G League (2015-16) and Alvark Tokyo in Japan (2020-21). He helped Maccabi win the league and cup double in 2018 before doing the same with Panathinaikos in 2019. The American forward also lifted the French Cup trophy with Nanterre in 2014. He also made it to the NCAA Tournament Final Four with Ohio State University in 2012.

The 20 participating teams from 14 countries were divided into two groups of 10 at the BKT EuroCup Draw on July 7. Each will play 18 games, home and away, against all group opponents.

The regular season is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 3 and to finish on Wednesday, February 7. The top six teams from each regular season group advance to the playoffs. The first and second seeds from each group will go directly to the quarterfinals. The third through sixth seeds go to the eighthfinals to play opponents from the opposite group. The higher-placed regular season team will have home-court advantage in each pairing throughout the postseason.

The single-game BKT EuroCup Eighthfinals will be played on Tuesday, March 5, and Wednesday, March 6. The winners of each eighthfinals game will advance to play the first and second seeds from both regular season groups in single-game quarterfinals, which will be held on Tuesday, March 12, and Wednesday, March 13.

The quarterfinals winners will advance to the best-of-three semifinals, which are scheduled from Tuesday, March 26, until Wednesday, April 3, in the event that three games are necessary in any series. The BKT EuroCup Finals are to begin on Tuesday, April 9, and conclude with the crowning of a champion on Wednesday, April 17, if a third game is necessary.

Just a four and a half hour by car, Prometey Slobozhanske is Wolves's closest opponent in the EuroCup this year. With Prometey currently playing in Riga, Latvia due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the good political relations between Lithuania and Ukraine should mean that there is support for Prometey – even from fans of Wolves. What's more, with a strong Lithuanian presence on Wolves's roster and also among its management, everything is there for this game to act as a celebration of basketball. Prometey shined in its first season in the EuroCup last year, making it all the way to the semifinals, and this Round 6 matchup could be a good test for Wolves as it looks to judge itself against one of last year's surprise teams.

Twenty-two years later, Kemzura and his Wolves side will take on the team nicknamed the Black Eagles, and it will surely be a special night for the Lithuanian tactician as he returns to Istanbul once again. Kemzura has coached the likes of Lithuania, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, Khimki Moscow Region, Olympiacos Piraeus and Latvia, among others, as a head coach, and he will now get a chance to show Besiktas fans what he can do from the sidelines.

Stipanovic (2.08 meters, 36 years old) averaged 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 16 EuroCup games last season. He ranked eighth in two-point shooting (70.7% 2FG) and led all players who took more than 7 attempts (7.2) per night.

Stipanovic started his professional basketball career with Hermes Analitica Zagreb, Split and Velika Gorica of his native Croatia. He also played for Liege Basket of Belgium, Caserta and Vanoli Cremona of Italy, Telenet Ostend of Belgium, Trabzonspor and Buyukcemece of Turkiye, Cedevita Zagreb of Croatia and Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia before joining Cluj in 2021. He has helped Cluj win three consecutive Romanian League championships and lift the Romanian Cup in 2023, too. He helped Cedevita Zagreb win the Croatian League and Cup double in 2018 and defend the Croatian Cup in 2019.

In 81 career EuroCup games with Ostend, Trabzonspor, Cedevita Zagreb, Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana and Cluj, Stipanovic has amassed 855 points (10.6 ppg.) and 387 rebounds (4.8 rpg.). He ranks seventh all-time in two-point shots made, 367, and is set to move up a few spots on the list this season.

Gravett (1.88 meters, 27 years old) arrives from EWE Baskets Oldenburg, where he averaged 8.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 19 German League games last season. Oldenburg was his third team in the 2022-23 campaign, in which he began with Memphis in the G-League and then moved to Raptors 905.

Gravett started his professional career with Lakeland of the G League and also played for MZT Skopje Aerodrom of North Macedonia and Orlando in the NBA. He helped Skopje win the North Macedonian League and Cup double in 2021. Before that, Gravett helped the University of South Carolina reach the 2017 NCAA Tournament Final Four.

Williams arrives from Capital City of the G League, where he averaged 8.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 27 games. He started his 2022-23 season, his first in professional basketball, with another G League team, Santa Cruz, and averaged 9.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 22 games. Before that Williams starred at Purdue University. He also helped the USA national team to the gold medal at the 2019 U19 World Cup.

"Trevion convinced us with his energy on the court," Ulm sports director Thorsten Leibenath said. "He's an uncompromising rebounder at one end of the court and an explosive all-rounder at the other."

Buducnost VOLI Podgorica added some firepower and experience to its backcourt by signing shooting guard Allerik Freeman, the club announced Tuesday. Freeman (1.91 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Besiktas Istanbul, where he averaged 18.9 points and 3.8 assists in 13 Turkish League games last season. He started the 2022-23 campaign with Umana Reyer Venice and was worth 9.8 points in 12 EuroCup games.

Freeman started his professional basketball career with Hungarian side Alba Fehervar and had also played for Frutti Extra Bursaspor of Turkey, Shenzhen Leopards of China, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne of France and CSKA Moscow of Russia. In 21 career EuroCup career games with Bursaspor and Reyer, Freeman has averaged 14.0 points on 41.2% three-point shooting and 2.2 assists. He also has EuroLeague experience, averaging 7.4 points in 18 games with ASVEL in the 2020-21 season.

The second week in July saw several BKT EuroCup teams make important signings. Two – Umana Reyer Venice and Veolia Hamburg Towers – each made a pair of signings ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. A few other teams signed players they know very well. Here’s a look at all the major signings in the EuroCup between July 11 and 17. 

 

### Reyer continues rebuild

Reyer reached the EuroCup Eighthfinals in each of the past two seasons. Determined to take a step further this season, Neven Spahija's side has been adding some key pieces alongside the remaining core from last season. On Friday, power forward [Giga Janelidze](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/reyer-tabs-forward-giga-janelidze/) put pen to paper on a deal. While Janelidze, who spent last season in Italy’s second division, is best known for his defense and physicality, the player the club announced on Monday is a pure scorer. [Rayjon Tucker](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/reyer-adds-scoring-punch-with-rayjon-tucker/) comes to Europe for the first time after playing for four clubs in the NBA and filling baskets in Australia last season. Their additions give Reyer 10 players under contract for the coming season.

### Hamburg hires duo

Hamburg will have a new look this season, with several EuroCup newcomers. The team’s two signings last week give Benka Barloschky more weapons to build around. On Tuesday, 25-year-old big man [Aleksander Dziewa](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/hamburg-bolsters-frontcourt-with-dziewa/) came aboard after spending seven seasons with Slask Wroclaw. In that time, he has faced Hamburg four times and posted a pair of double-doubles, averaging 16 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks. The Hamburg faithful will surely be thrilled to have him on their side now. Two days later, the club announced that it had signed [Aljami Durham](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/hamburg-puts-aljami-durham-at-guard/), who split his first year as a professional last season between Greece and Scotland. The explosive guard could emerge as a difference-maker for the Towers.

### Together again

Some teams know when they have the right player in the right spot and make sure to keep that relationship going. Such was the case with the champs when Dreamland Gran Canaria locked up [Nico Brussino](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/nico-brussino-granca-agree-on-deal-until-2025/) through 2025.  The do-it-all small forward started all but one of his 20 games last season. After a season apart, Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana and [Jaka Blazic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/jaka-blazic-returns-to-cedevita-olimpija/) are reunited for a third stint together. With 917 career EuroCup points, Blazic could join the 1,000-point club this season. EuroCup returnee Aris Thessaloniki brought back veteran forward [Diamantis Slaftsakis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/aris-reunites-with-forward-slaftsakis/) after two years away; he spent three seasons with Aris in his previous run.

### Other signings of note

One of the strongest teams in the EuroCup over the past two seasons, Joventut Badalona, signed [Andrew Andrews](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/joventut-adds-scoring-ace-andrews/), who fueled Frutti Extra Bursaspor on a Cinderella run to the EuroCup Final just two seasons ago. He adds firepower to an already deep Joventut backcourt. 7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys tabbed swingman [Martynas Varnas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/lietkabelis-picks-up-swingman-martynas-varnas/), who comes off the best season of his career. A product of the Zalgiris Kaunas youth system, the 26-year-old will make his EuroCup debut this season. And Buducnost VOLI Podgorica signed power forward [Marvin Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/buducnost-gets-size-with-marvin-jones/), who will play in the EuroCup for the second time after making three appearances with Promitheas Patras in the 2019-20 season.
