Caboclo (2.06 meters, 27 years old) arrives from ratiopharm Ulm, where he posted a PIR of 19.6 last season, which was second in the competition. He also ranked second in blocks (1.5 bpg.) and two-pointers made (5.2), fifth in points (17.4 ppg.), sixth in rebounds (7.8 rpg.) and seventh in offensive rebounds (2.5 orpg.). Caboclo helped Ulm win its first-ever German League championship, too.

Caboclo started the 2022-23 season with Mexican club Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico, where he averaged 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in two G League games. He has spent the majority of his career in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets and with those teams' G-League affiliates: Fort Wayne, Raptors 905, Reno and Rio Grande.

Caboclo began his career with Pinheiros in Brazil. He has also played for Sao Paolo, which he led to the Basketball Champions League Americas title in 2022 and was the championship game MVP after posting 29 points and 7 rebounds in that effort, and Limoges CSP of France.

Before joining Turk Telekom, Guler spent two seasons with Aliaga Petkim Spor. He has also played for the Turkish national team at the junior levels.

##### The Veolia Hamburg Towers have signed exciting swingman VJ King for the coming season, the club announced on Friday.

King (1.98 meters, 26 years old) arrives from the Bristol Flyers, with which he was an All-British Basketball League First Team selection last season, his first in Europe. He was fourth in the league in scoring with 18.2 points per game. King also contributed 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 32 appearances. He helped Bristol finish third in the league and was also the BBL Player of the Month for January.

King began his professional career with the Westchester Knicks in the G-League, where he spent two seasons. He played college basketball at the University of Louisville. One of the top high school players in the United States, King was a McDonalds All-American selection and played in the Jordan brand Classic in 2016. He played for the United States junior national teams and won gold medals at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the 2014 U17 World Cup.

The first official act of the 2023-24 EuroCup comes your way on Friday, July 7, with the annual draw to divide the 20 participating teams into two regular season groups. The draw will begin at 13:15 CEST and can be followed live here on the competition's official website as well as via YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

2023-24 EuroCup Draw criteria and procedure

**The first official act of the 2023-24 EuroCup comes your way on Friday, July 7, with the annual draw to divide the 20 participating teams into two regular season groups. The draw will begin at 13:15 CEST and can be followed live here on the competition's official website as well as via** [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/euroleague)**,** [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Eurocup) **and** [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/TheEuroCup/)**.**

The draw will be held based on the teams' seeds.

• The 20 qualified teams will be divided into 10 seeds with two teams in each, in accordance with the Club Ranking.

• The performance of teams in Euroleague Basketball competitions during a three year period will be used for the ranking. Each club will get 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie or loss from the regular season onwards. 2 bonus points are allocated for reaching the last 16, 2 bonus points are allocated for reaching the last 8, 1 bonus point is allocated for reaching the last 4, 1 bonus point is allocated for reaching the Finals. The Club Ranking consists of the sum of the club coefficients from the last three years. The results of the worst performing team from each country/league will be added together every year to create a position for that country/League in the Club Ranking. This is the lowest possible position that any club from that country/League can occupy in the draw.

• If two or more teams have the same Club Ranking, the tie will be resolved by the total number of wins during the three year period. Should a tie persist, the final standings in the EuroLeague and if necessary EuroCup from the previous season will be used to break the tie. Should a tie persist, the final standings in the domestic championship from the previous season (after the playoffs) will be used to break the tie. Should a tie persist, a draw will be used to break the tie, with the Company determining the method for the draw.

• The first two teams from the Club Ranking participating in the regular season will be 1 Seeds, the next two 2 Seeds, the next two 3 Seeds, the next two 4 Seeds, and so on until the 10 Seeds are completed.

### GROUP DRAW RESTRICTION

The restriction when drawing the teams into groups is the following:

• Two teams from the same domestic league cannot coincide in the same regular season group, except when there are more than two teams from the same domestic league participating in the regular season. In this case, the draw will try to balance the amount of representatives in each group until it is physically impossible to preserve the Group Draw Restrictions without blocking the draw.

### GROUP DRAW PROCEDURE

• Teams will be drawn one by one from an urn containing only teams in the same Seed, from the 1 Seeds through to the 10 Seeds, until all 20 teams have been selected.

• The first team drawn will be allocated in the Group A and therefore, the other team in the seed will be allocated in Group B.

• In case of a country restriction, either team can be directly allocated in one group so the other team in the seed will be allocated in the other group.

• A team may be placed directly into a group to follow the restriction mentioned above.

Drawing the teams as explained above will eliminate all possibilities of a blocked situation.

Dimitris Katsivelis EuroCup highlights

Katsivelis started his professional basketball career Mas Mantoulidis, joining Olympiacos Piraeus in his late teens. In his four seasons with Olympiacos, Katsivelis helped the Reds win back-to-back Turkish Airlines EuroLeague titles in 2012 and 2013, as well as lifting the Intercontinental Cup trophy in 2013 and claiming two Greek League and a Greek Cup crowns. He has also played for AEK Athens, PAOK Thessaloniki, Promitheas Patras and Peristeri Athens of his native Greece, as well as for Astaba of Kazakhstan. Katsivelis has also been a member of the Greek national team. He helped Greece win a gold medal at the 2008 U18 European Championships, getting a silver one at the 2010 U20 European Championships. He also lifted the Kazakhstan League trophy in 2017. In 23 EuroCup games with AEK and Promitheas, Katsivelis averages 3.7 points and 1.5 assists.

Besiktas Istanbul inked former All-EuroCup guard Derrick Needham to return to the competition with a bang on Thursday. Needham (1.80 meters, 32 years old) arrives from another Turkish club, Frutti Extra Bursaspor, who he helped lead to the EuroCup Final two seasons ago and to the playoffs last season. Over the last two EuroCup seasons, Needham has accumulated more assists (183) and steals (54) than any EuroCup player while ranking second in points (555).

All told, Needham has played four EuroCup seasons since debuting with AS Monaco in 2018-19 and returning with Morna Bar of Montenegro two seasons later before switching to Bursaspor. In that five-year span, Needham's 4.4 assists per game rank fourth among all EuroCup players, his 1.2 steals rank sixth and his 11.5 points 12th. He was named to the All-EuroCup First Team in 2021-22 after posting averages of 13.1 points, 4.7 assists and 1.4 steals. He and Bursaspor won three do-or-die road wins that season to reach the finals before losing to Virtus Bologna.

7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys has confirmed the appointment of Roberts Stelmahers as its new head coach on a one+one-year contract. He replaces Nenad Canak, who left to join fellow 7DAYS EuroCup team Turk Telekom Ankara. Stelmahers began his coaching career in 2009 and most recently coached Basketball Nymburk in the Czech Republic in 2022. The Latvian tactician has coached in Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Estonia, the Netherlands and, as mentioned, the Czech Republic. During his playing days, Stelmahers appeared in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for Fenerbahce Istanbul (2001-02), Olimpija Ljubljana (2002-03, 2003-04) and Lietuvos Rytas (2005-06). He also spent two years playing in the EuroCup with Rytas in the 2004-05 and 2006-07 seasons. Stelmahers became a EuroCup champion with Rytas in 2005.

Turk Telekom and Mehmet Yagmur have agreed on a new one-year contract that will keep the veteran guard on the team's roster for the 2023-24 7DAYS EuroCup season. Yagmur (1.87 meters, 35 years old) came off the bench to help Turk Telekom reach the EuroCup Finals last season.

Turk Telekom renews veteran Mehmet Yagmur

Turk Telekom and [Mehmet Yagmur](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/mehmet-yagmur/000497/) have agreed on a new one-year contract that will keep the veteran guard on the team's roster for the 2023-24 7DAYS EuroCup season. Yagmur (1.87 meters, 35 years old) came off the bench to help Turk Telekom reach the EuroCup Finals last season. He averaged 1.6 points while shooting sparingly in 5:27 minutes per game. He took only 12 field goal attempts in 12 games played, making 3 of 3 two-pointers, 4 of 9 triples and his only free throw. He had a season-high 11 points in 25 minutes without a miss in a comeback 72-80 road win at Dolomiti Energia Trento in Round 14 of the regular season.

Yagmur is a veteran of five EuroCup seasons since his debut as a 20-year-old back in the 2007-08 season with Besiktas Istanbul. In three seasons with Besiktas, one with Galatasaray and last season with Turk Telekom, he has averaged 3.1 points and 1.5 assists over 59 total EuroCup games. 

Dreamland Gran Canaria added size and experience in the paint by landing center Ethan Happ, who arrives from Spanish side Rio Breogan Lugo.

##### Reigning EuroCup champion Dreamland Gran Canaria bolstered its frontcourt by signing center [Ethan Happ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/-/009864/) for the 2023-24 season, the club announced on Thursday. 

Happ (2.08 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Rio Breogan Lugo, where he averaged 12.6 points and 2.5 assists in 34 Spanish League games last season. He ranked second in the league in rebounds (7.9) and steals (1.9). Happ posted a season-high PIR of 37 against Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion Real Madrid with 21 points, 19 rebounds and 6 steals in a 91-73 losing effort in January.

Happ had a standout college career at the University of Wisconsin; he averaged 17.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.3 blocks in 34 NCAA games in the 2018-19 season. He started his professional career with Olympiacos Piraeus and made his EuroLeague debut there. He then moved to Italian side Vanoli Basket Cremona. Happ also played for Lavoroplu Fortitudo Bologna and Banco di Sardegna Sassari of Italy, as well as for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg of Germany before joining Breogan in 2022. Happ is set to make his EuroCup debut with Gran Canaria next season.
