Vives (1.92 meters, 30 years old) is currently in his second stint at Joventut -the club he grew up in- as a pro player. This season he averages 4.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 17 EuroCup games off the bench.

Vives played for Joventut at youth level and made his debut with the first team during the 2012-13 season. The following campaign, he won the award for the best young player in the Spanish League, which resulted in Valencia Basket signing him. In his time there, he won a EuroCup title in 2019, a Spanish League title and a Spanish Super Cup. He also played a total 78 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games with Valencia, averaging 4.7 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists. In 2021, Vives returned to Joventut and, with this contract extension, it looks like he will retire there. "I am very happy about staying here because of the trust that the club has shown towards me," Vives said. "Since I came back, I've felt at home and I experienced again what it is to play with the colors of the club you love. Here, you feel something extra that cannot be explained." Joventut will now face the London Lions in the eighthfinals of the EuroCup in a couple of weeks' time.

Guillem Vives extends Joventut contract until 2026

Blocked shots and stopping one of Buducnost's main players, allowed Turk Telekom to get this important win. Turk Telekom finished the game with 5 blocks. Alpha Kaba, who has averaged a double-double this season (10.1 ppg., 10.5 rpg.), was held scoreless against Turk Telekom and grabbed a season-low 3 rebounds. Kaba had at least 6 rebounds in each EuroCup game until this game. He amassed a career-low PIR of -4.

Turk Telekom shot the ball much better inside the arc, making up for its 17 turnovers and poor free-throw shooting (57.9%). The hosts made 21 of 29 two-pointers, and its percentage (72.4% 2FG) was the club's season-high. It previously made 72.2% of its two-pointers in Round 11 against Veolia Hamburg Towers. Buducnost struggled inside the arc, burying just 20 of 44 two-point shots (45.5% 2FG), which helped Turk Telekom get the victory.

Before Round 18, Gran Canaria had already secured first place in Group B. It beat Veolia Towers Hamburg 86-73 at home in Round 18 to finish the regular season with the best record in this phase, 15-3, which comes with a prize.

Indeed, Gran Canaria is 9-0 at home in the EuroCup this season, winning all games by an average margin of 11.8 points. Its only narrow win, 85-83, came against Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv in Round 5.

Last season, Joventut Badalona was the top-seeded team, but it lost against ratiopharm Ulm, coached by Lakovic, in the eighthfinals, 73-79. Just like Gran Canaria, Joventut had been undefeated at home throughout the regular season. 

Gran Canaria now hopes to keep that in mind to make the most out of the home-court advantage. Joventut and Gran Canaria may cross paths in the semifinals if both teams win enough games.

Despite knowing that the top seed in Group B was not available after Prometey Slobozhanske had already won, Joventut displayed great focus from the very beginning and dominated for the whole game. 

A 14-0 run to start the contest soon proved Joventut was not going to relax or take its foot off the accelerator. The home team was never behind and built a 20-point lead early in the second quarter that grew up to a game-high 25 points, 67-42, early in the third.

Such dominance was also displayed by the stats, as Joventut won in all main categories. The home team shot better from all positions, going 62.5% on two-pointers, 32.3% on threes, and 73.3% from the free-throw line against Lietkabelis's 55.2% on twos, 30.0% from deep, and 52.6% from the free-throw line.

Joventut was also better under the boards, as it outrebounded its opponent 35-29, going for 23 defensive and 12 offensive boards. Lietbkabelis grabbed 20 on defense and 9 on offense. When it came to passing the ball, the hosts had 2 more assists than the visitors (18-16) and also took care of the ball much better, with 10 turnovers fewer (14-24) and 2 more steals (10-8). And, in the only category in which Lietkabelis was not worse than Joventut, was all square with 2 blocked shots for each side.

Prometey Slobozhanske won its 11th game in a row. A team that had a 3-4 record after an overtime loss at Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse in early December, Prometey never lost again and finished on Wednesday night as Group A winner to secure playing as a host in all games before EuroCup Finals.

"We did an amazing job the entire season," Prometey head coach Ronen Ginzburg said after his team's 93-76 win in the regular season finale. "I am satisfied and happy."

The mood was ruined only by an injury to playmaker Caleb Agada, who had 11 points, 4 assists and 4 steals before leaving the game with what appeared to be a leg injury in the second quarter. Already missing another playmaker, D.J. Kennedy, it did not stop Prometey from dominating Reyer in the second half.

Gian Clavell starred with 25 points, making 4 of team's 9 three-pointers on the night, and Ivan Tkachenko stepped up in his first start with 13 points on perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the field.

But it was the dominance inside that made the difference for Prometey, which shot 27-for-38 (71.1%) on two-pointers. Also, Prometey committed just 9 turnovers while its defense picked up 11 steals, forcing 17 turnovers by the visitors.

The biggest praise came from the visiting coach, former EuroCup champ Neven Spahija.

"They are a way better team \[than us\] right now. I have to give credit to Coach Ginzburg and the team for the amazing basketball. There is so many things to learn from them."

However, all that Prometey has done will soon be forgotten. Because it's playoffs time in a one-and-done format. Prometey's opponent in the eighthfinals is Veolia Towers Hamburg.

"I think all 16 teams can beat each other. Just look at what happened last season. We need to be ready", Ginzburg concluded.

Bourg did not allow a single fast-break point for Cedevita and tallied 13 points of its own in getting easy points - even though Bourg committed more turnovers than Cedevita, 15 to 9.

Pierre Pelos came up with some big shots in transition in the fourth quarter for the winners in scoring 20 points.

The French side also was superbly efficient in scoring on extra opportunities. Cedevita again won the statistic - 13 offensive rebounds to 10 for Bourg - but Bourg turned its offensive rebounds into 22 second-chance points with Cedevita scoring just 10 such points. Kevin Kokila was big for the visitors with 4 offensive rebounds.
