Besiktas Fibabanka Istanbul has confirmed that head coach Dusan Alimpijevic has put pen to paper on a new contract that will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Alimpijevic, 39, is in his second campaign in charge of Besiktas. He led the team to the BKT EuroCup Semifinals in 2023-24 and another playoff appearance in 2024-25. Through two seasons, the Serbian play-caller is 22-20 in EuroCup play as Besiktas head coach.

Prior to landing at Besiktas, Alimpijevic was named the 2021-22 EuroCup Coach of the Year with Frutti Extra Bursaspor. That same season, he guided the team to the EuroCup Final. The following year, Bursaspor returned to the playoffs under Alimpijevic, but exited at the last-16 stage.

Earlier in his coaching career, the current Besiktas boss got his first taste of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade during the 2017-18 campaign, posting an 11-19 record. His other coaching stops have come with Vojvodina Srbijagas (2013-15), Spartak Subotica (2015-17), FMP (2017) and Avtodor (2018-19).

[NINERS Chemnitz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/niners-chemnitz/nin/) bolstered its backcourt by signing [Kostja Mushidi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/kostja-mushidi/006634/), who joins the club on a contract through the 2026–27 season.

Mushidi (1.95 meters, 26 years old) arrives from fellow German side BG Goettingen, where he averaged 12.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the German League last season. A scoring wing who can also create for others and defend multiple positions, Mushidi is expected to contribute at both guard spots.

Born in Belgium and raised in Germany, Mushidi came through the youth ranks at Bonn-Rhoendorf and began his professional career with SIG Strasbourg in France. He later played three seasons for Mega Belgrade and another for OKK Belgrade before returning to Germany for two years with Braunschweig and three with SYNTAINICS MBC.

A longtime German youth national team player, Mushidi earned all-tournament honors at the 2018 U20 European Championship, where he helped Germany capture the bronze medal in Chemnitz.

[Neptunas Klaipeda](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/neptunas-klaipeda/roster/kla/) has appointed Gediminas Petrauskas as its next head coach. The sides agreed to a two-year contract with an option for a third season.

Petrauskas, 40, arrives from Nedainiu Nevezis-Optibet, which he coached for the last four seasons. He started his head coaching career at the early age of 24 with Naglis-Adakris Palangos. Petrauskas has also coached Kedainiai Triobet, Siauliai, Juventus Utenus and Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys in Lithuania as well as Atomeromu in Hungary.

He led Siauliai to three consecutive Baltic League championships from 20214 to 2016, and has also coached the Lithuanian national team in all youth categories. He helped Lithuania win a silver medal at the 2015 U16 European Championship, as well as respective bronze medals at the 2017 U18 European Championships and the 2016 U17 World Cup. Petrauskas is set to make his BKT EuroCup debut with Neptunas next season.

The 38-year-old combo guard decided to finish his 20-year playing career, in which he won titles with all four teams he played for: [Joventut Badalona](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/joventut-badalona/roster/jov/?season=2024-25), Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, [Valencia Basket](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/valencia-basket/roster/pam/?season=2024-25) and FC Barcelona.

Ribas joined Joventut at age 4. His parents became Joventut season ticket holders right after he was born. After playing for all of the team's youth categories, Ribas made his first-team debut in 2005. He became a full-time member of Joventut's first team before the start of the 2007-08 season and helped the team win the Copa del Rey and the EuroCup. He also won the FIBA EuroChallenge with Joventut in 2006.

Ribas went on to play for Baskonia, with which he won the Spanish League in 2010. He claimed a second EuroCup crown, this time with Valencia in 2014. Ribas made a series-winning shot late in the second leg of the two-game, total points eighthfinals against Khimki Moscow Region, which eventually allowed Valencia to lift the trophy. Ribas later won back-to-back Copa del Rey titles with Barça in 2018 and 2019. He was also a member of the Spanish national team, which he helped to win gold medals at EuroBasket 2015 and the 2019 Basketball World Cup.

In 132 EuroCup career games with Joventut and Valencia, Rivas averaged 7.9 points and 2.9 assists. He made 41.5% of his three-point shots. Ribas ranks 10th in games played and three-point shots made (182), as well as 27th in points scored (1,049). Ribas also took part in 165 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games with Baskonia, Barca, Valencia and Joventut, amassing 901 points and 371 assists.

Johanathan Motley had a EuroCup season to remember, capped off with the title and the EuroCup Finals MVP trophy.

When [Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/hapoel-shlomo-tel-aviv/hta/) signed [Johnathan Motley](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/johnathan-motley/011157/) last summer, it was with one goal in mind – to win the BKT EuroCup and secure a place in next season’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Not only did Motley live up to the billing, but he was the EuroCup Finals MVP as Hapoel won its first-ever European title.

Motley had already starred in the EuroCup before with Lokomotiv Kuban in 2021-22, but after two years in the EuroLeague with Fenerbahce, expectation levels were high with regard to what he could do this time around. His season averages of 16.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists show the impact he had, yet his importance to Hapoel grew even further in the latter stages of the campaign.

In a semifinal series that many before the season tipped to be the EuroCup Finals, Motley posted 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists as Hapoel defeated Valencia 2-1, which included 26 points in Game 2 as the Israeli side forced a do-or-die Game 3 at La Fonteta. Motley then averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steal in the EuroCup Finals as Hapoel swept Dreamland Gran Canaria. Having signed him for the big occasions, he made sure to step up when the lights shine the brightest.

Motley, who played 20 times this season, finished the campaign leading Hapoel in PIR (19.4) and points (16.7 PPG), while he was tied for first in rebounds (4.8 RPG) with Tomer Ginat, while his 0.5 blocks per night were third on the team. For the skillful big man, he showed why Hapoel was so delighted to have signed him last summer.

Training camp was already underway when [Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/hapoel-shlomo-tel-aviv/hta/) announced that it had signed [Bruno Caboclo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/bruno-caboclo/012096/) and it was nothing short of a "wow" moment. While Caboclo would not be the final piece to the championship puzzle, it was absolutely a building block. 

The Brazilian big was a formidable asset for Hapoel, whether taking on starring or supporting roles. As the backup to [Johnathan Motley](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/johnathan-motley/011157/), he made sure Hapoel had 40 minutes of strong center play every night. When he played alongside Motley, Hapoel had a long and versatile frontline that few could handle. And when Motley missed games, stepped up to hold down the fort.

Caboclo was Hapoel’s most productive player on [opening night](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/ec2425-rs1-report-jov-hta/) with 14 points and a PIR of 18 at Joventut Badalona. In the first game that Motley missed, Caboclo posted a double-double [against Bahcesehir College Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/bahcesehir-stays-atop-group-a-by-downing-hapoel-90-82/). His best game of the season came [in Round 14](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/total-team-effort-was-key-to-hapoels-thrashing-of-trento/) when the big man posted 19 points and 9 boards in [an 89-68 blowout of Dolomiti Energia Trento](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/hapoel-cruises-past-trento-89-68/).

Come the postseason, Caboclo left his mark with strong efforts in limited minutes. He missed only one postseason game – and that was the lone game Hapoel lost. Caboclo posted 5 points and 6 rebounds in the [quarterfinals victory over Turk Telekom Ankara](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/hapoel-fights-off-turk-telekom-moves-into-semifinals/). He played the entirety of the fourth quarter in the decisive [Game 3 of the semifinals against Valencia Basket](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/hapoel-found-new-go-to-guys-and-made-history/). Caboclo helped turn the tide in [Game 1 of the finals against Dreamland Gran Canaria](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/hapoel-beats-gran-canaria-74-65-in-finals-opener/) with 5 second-quarter points and would total 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in the two-game sweep.

Over 23 EuroCup games this season, Caboclo averaged 7.4 points by making 59.0% of his two-pointers and 39.0% of his threes. He added 3.7 blocks, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks in 17:19 minutes per game. Hapoel could not have turned in such a spectacular season without him.

Tribute to the Champs: Bruno Caboclo

It will go down as one of the biggest shots in BKT EuroCup history - and certainly the shot that wrote a golden chapter in the annals of [Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/hapoel-shlomo-tel-aviv/hta/) history. In Game 3 of the best-of-three semifinals, on the road against Valencia Basket, [Marcus Foster](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/marcus-foster/010386/) pulled up from mid-range and nailed the go-ahead jumper with 2.7 seconds remaining to lift Hapoel to [a 92-94 win](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/hapoel-upsets-valencia-to-reach-the-finals-92-94/) that sent the team to the EuroCup Finals.

Even though there were two games remaining, both of which Hapoel won in convincing fashion to win the trophy, Foster’s shot was the cherry on top of a series of masterful performances in the quarterfinals and semifinals that made all the difference for Hapoel.

After averaging 13.2 points in the regular season, Foster scored 21 points in the one-and-done [quarterfinals against Turk Telekom](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/hapoel-fights-off-turk-telekom-moves-into-semifinals/) and then 20 points in [the opening game of the semifinals](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/valencia-outlasts-hapoel-at-home-91-82/) and 22 points in Game 3. Valencia Basket has confirmed that captain Josep Puerto has renewed his contract at the club for a further two years, taking his deal up until the summer of 2027.

Puerto is currently in his ninth season in Valencia's first team and this is his first campaign as captain.

During the 2024-25 season, the 26-year-old posted 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and a 7.8 PIR as his side reached the BKT EuroCup Semifinals.

To date, Puerto has spent four years in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague (2017-18, 2020-21, 2022-23, 2023-24) and four seasons in the EuroCup (2015-16, 2016-17, 2021-22, 2024-25), although he only made one appearance in each of the 2015-16 and 2016-17 campaigns.

A simple peak at the 2024-25 statistics might suggest that veteran forward [Oz Blayzer](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/oz-blayzer/009877/) had a sporadic and a minimal role in [Hapoel Shlomo’s Tel Aviv](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/hapoel-shlomo-tel-aviv/hta/)'s BKT EuroCup-winning season. And his 16 appearances off the bench might strongly suggest so. Blayzer averaged 7:12 minutes per game this season, totaling 24 points and 19 rebounds. However, little do we know that without Blayzer, Hapoel might not have gone all the way.

Starting with Round 6, Blayzer appeared in all but one of the remaining regular-season games, and his most productive appearance was during 18 minutes in a 23-point road win against eventual EuroCup finalist Dreamland Gran Canaria. He had season highs with 5 points and 4 rebounds that night. Blayzer was a dependant role player for coach Dimitris Itoudis, happy to fill in any minutes and seconds needed.

But in a one-and-done quarterfinal tie against a dangerous Turk Telekom Ankara, Blayzer was asked to do something he has not done during the entire season – to step up in a close game. With a first-half injury to team captain Tomer Ginat, it was Blayzer’s number that was called. He spent 17 minutes on the floor, including seven minutes in the fourth quarter, and had a significant defensive contribution. It is hard to imagine how Hapoel, without the help of Blayzer, could have held Turk Telekom to just 5 points in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter, build a double-digit lead and hold on to it until the end.

Blayzer became an unsung hero, and a shining example of Hapoel’s team unity and the importance of a 12-man roster. Thanks to that, the 32-year-old Blayzer and Hapoel can call themselves EuroCup champions.
