On a night when 7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys was without its second-best scorer and its best scorer suffered a tough shooting night, it was going to need some others to step up. Kristian Kullamae and Gyorgy Goloman did exactly that to lead Lietkabelis’s record-scoring night.

The hosts set a club record with 60 first-half points and another with 104 points for the game in a 6-point victory over Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana on Wednesday night.

Kullamae had his finest night in the competition with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, which are all personal bests. He previous top marks were 14 points and 4 rebounds; He had 14 points and 3 rebounds in the second half alone on Wednesday.

The first player to heat up was Goloman, who scored 11 points in the first quarter and reached 16 by halftime before finishing with 23, which was more than four times his season average of 5.6 points per game entering Round 6.

Those two players not only paced the Lietkabelis attack, but also led the team in +/-. Kullamae had a +16 in 25 minutes and Goloman was +10 in 32 minutes.

Jamel Morris came into the game ranked fourth in the EuroCup with 18.4 points per game, but was limited to 8 points against Cedevita. He shot 1-for3 on two-pointers and 1-for5 on threes. Morris also dished 6 assists and committed 4 turnovers.  The team’s No. 2 scorer, Zeljko Sakic (14.3 ppg.) remained sidelined due to injury.

"I don’t think that we will have again a win like this with that rhythm, with this many points,” Lietkabelis head coach Nenad Canak said after the game. But if Kullamae and Goloman remain hot and Morris joins them? Who knows?

7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys set a club scoring record in racing past Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana 104-98 on Wednesday at Cido Arena. Kristian Kullamae scored a career-high 24 points and dished 7 assists and Gyorgy Goloman added a personal-best 23 points to lead Lietkabelis, which remained undefeated at home this season and improved to 3-3 overall.

Benas Griciunas contributed 16 points and Vytenis Lipkevicius 13 for the winners. Amar Alibegovic scored 19 points to lead Cedevita, which fell to 0-6. Yogi Ferrell and Karlo Matkovic added 17 points apiece and Alen Omic and Zoran Dragic each scored 11. Omic also moved past Sammy Mejia for sixth place on the all-time EuroCup scoring list with 1,221 career points.

Alibegovic had a hot start for Cedevita, but was called for 3 early fouls and had to sit. Paulius Murauskas nailed a pair of three to give the hosts an early lead and though Cedevita stayed close, Goloman kept Lietkabelis rolling. He netted 11 first-quarter points as the hosts amassed a 34-27 lead after 10 minutes. Mantas Rubstavicius’s three-point play extended the margin to double figures, 40-30. Edo Muric and Omic rallied Cedevita to halve the deficit. Lietkabelis finished the half on a 12-2 tear to lead 60-44 at the break.    

Alibegovic started the second half like the first, but Lietkabelis got back on track quickly and shortly after the midway point of the third quarter the margin was up to 20. Matkovic helped keep Cedevita in the picture by lowering the difference to 82-69 through three quarters. Cedevita continued its push and Alibegovic’s layup made it 92-85 with 3 minutes remaining. Ferrell drained a triple to get within 100-97 with 25 seconds to go, but free throws by Lipkevicus and Kullamae iced the game for Lietkabelis.

Frutti Extra Bursaspor defeated U-BT Cluj-Napoca 95-80 on Wednesday for its second consecutive win in Group A, which raised its record to 4-2. Onuralp Bitim led the winners with a career-high 26 points. Derek Needham added 21, Anthony Clemmons had 16 and Zach Auguste 10 for Bursaspor. Karel Guzman and Emanuel Cate each scored 16 points for Cluj, which dropped to 2-4 and continued to look for its first-ever 7DAYS EuroCup road win. Nemanja Gordic added 13 points, Leo Meindl had 12 and Patrick Richards 11. 

Guzman, Gordic and Meindl each hit a triple to give an early 11-13 lead. Bitim and Needham fueled a 9-0 run highlighted by Auguste's alley-oop slam to put Bursaspor in charge, 20-13. Meindl and an unstoppable Cate allowed Cluj to regain a 30-31 lead midway through the second quarter. Bitim and Needham kept pacing Bursaspor but Guzman helped Cluj to tie the game, 42-42, at halftime.

Bitim's coast-to-coast three-point play made it a six-point game, 50-44, soon after the break. Bitim got help from Auguste and Yigitcan Saybir to boost the hosts' lead to 67-55 after 30 minutes. Richards and Gordic brought Cluj as close as 73-67 with 6 minutes left. Needham and Clemmons made sure Bursaspor kept a safe margin in crunch time.

ratiopharm Ulm has improved its record in the 2022-23 7DAYS EuroCup to 3-3 after beating Prometey Slobozhanske 105-106 at Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas, Lithuania, on Wednesday evening. This defeat means that Prometey now finds itself 3-3.

Yago Dos Santos had a very impressive night for Ulm, finishing with a 26-point, 10-assist double-double. Curiously, the final assist Dos Santos provided was for a game-winning reverse layup by Karim Jallow, who had 24 points on a perfect night from the floor, going 7-for-7 from two-point range and 2-for-2 from three. Nicolas Bretzel was also very important in the win, scoring 17 points. For Prometey, Gian Clavell left it all out on the floor, ending with a game-high 34 points, but ultimately his team came up just short. DJ Stephens, Issuf Sanon and Caleb Agada also finished with a double-digit number of points, having scored 18, 17 and 16 points, respectively.

Bretzel got Ulm off to a strong start during the game at Zalgirio Arena, scoring nine of his team's first 12 points in the first quarter. Prometey, playing in its second temporary home of the season, began to fight back through the likes of Agada, Stephens and Dustin Hogue, but Ulm ended the first 10 minutes five points ahead, 22-27. In the second quarter, Ulm managed to keep Prometey at arm's length, with the playmaking of Juan Nunez and Dos Santos starting to have a major impact on proceedings. The visitors were able to open up a lead as big as 12 before ending the second quarter up 10, 43-53. At halftime, Ulm had Dos Santos, Bretzel and Jallow all sitting on 10 points each. Little changed for Prometey after the break, and it even found itself down 18 points, 64-82, after Dos Santos drained his fourth three-pointer of the quarter. Going into the final quarter of play, Prometey was trailing by 15, 71-86, and it appeared as though Ulm was going to coast to a road win. Yet, Clavell and Sanon made sure that the visitors did not have it that easy, with these two stepping up during a 12-0 Prometey run to make it 83-86 with 6:30 minutes left in the quarter. From there, it became a back-and-forth affair which saw Clavell and Stephens take center stage. Ulm had largely lost the rhythm it had in the previous three quarters, but it kept finding ways of putting points of the board. Then, in the final 30 seconds, Clavell drained a three-pointer before later seeing a floater drop to make it a 105-104 game with 9.3 seconds to go. After being 18 points down, it appeared as though Prometey was going to come away with a big win in Kaunas. Yet, Dos Santos drove to the rim and dished the ball off to Jallow, whose reverse layup put Ulm up for good, 105-106, with 1.9 left on the clock. Sanon attempted a half-court heave, but it was off target, much to the delight of everyone on the Ulm bench.

Who's Hot: Jamel Morris, 7-Bet Lietkabelis Panevezys

Over the last three rounds, no player in the 7DAYS EuroCup has scored more points than [Jamel Morris](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jamel-morris/011931/) of 7-Bet Lietkabelis Panevezys. So far this season, the guard, who turned 30 earlier this month, has been averaging 18.4 points per game on 44.7% shooting from two-point range and 40.0% from three.

However, the majority of his production has come between Rounds 3 and 5, during which time he is scoring 23.3 points per night. The beginning of the season has not been as productive for Morris.

On his EuroCup debut, Morris scored 8 points but went 0-for-3 from deep and finished the game with a PIR of -1. In Round 2, an 80-76 home win over ratiopharm Ulm, Morris had 14 points on 2-for-7 shots from three-point range and ended up with a PIR of 1.

However, starting from Round 3, Morris has been on a roll. In each of the last three games, he has scored more than 20 points, setting a new season-best on a week-by-week basis.

Due to this, Morris has been the most prolific scorer in the competition over the last three rounds. His combined total of 70 points over that span is four points better than the next best, Kyle Allman of Paris Basketball.

Morris recorded 21 points in Round 3, making all 3 of his two-pointers and going 3-of-6 from three against Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse. Then, he posted 24 points in a home win over U-BT Cluj-Napoca, hitting 5-of-12 shots from inside the arc and half – 4-of-8 – of his attempts from distance.

Last week, against Umana Reyer Venice, Morris topped his previous season-high for scoring, finishing the game with 25 points, the most of any player in Round 5. He did so by seeing 3-of-7 of his shots from two-point range drop, while he also went 3-of-6 from behind the arc.

The Lietkabelis guard is clearly feeling more at home in the EuroCup. After scoring a single-digit number of points on his EuroCup debut, and averaging 11.0 points on 20.0% three-point shooting over the first two games of the season, Morris has averaged 23.3 points on 50.0% accuracy from deep in the three games since. After attempting 10 triples and making just 2 in the first two rounds, Morris has made 10 triples on 20 attempts in the next three appearances.

What's more, Morris had an average PIR of 0 after his first two appearances – he had -1 against Prometey Slobozhanske and 1 against Ulm – but he has since turned that around, averaging a PIR of 19.7 from Round 3 onwards. Heading into Lietkabelis's game at home to Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana on Wednesday night, Morris – the EuroCup's most in-form scorer – will be eager to keep up his own hot streak and make it three wins from three at Cido Arena.

 Promitheas Patras is in search of a new head coach after Makis Giatras has stepped down due to health reasons. Giatras, 51, is in his third stint coaching Promitheas, which he first joined in 2013. He guided the club all the way from Greece’s fourth division to become a EuroCup contender. This season Promitheas is tied for second place in Group B with a 4-2 record.
