Petrucelli, 30, suffered a broken toe on his left foot early in Brescia's 60-80 Group A home loss in Round 6 to fellow Italian club Umana Reyer Venice.  Petrucelli had been averaging 9.6 points and 2.6 rebounds for Brescia before leaving that game without having scored or rebounded after 7:18 on the floor. Petrucelli joined Brescia this year after making his EuroCup debut last season with ratiopharm Ulm and started in four of his new team's first six games this season. He had a high of 15 points in Round 5 as Brescia lost 91-86 on the court of U-BT Cluj-Napoca.

This is my first 7DAYS EuroCup season since 2015, so I was definitely looking forward to being back to the EuroCup and the EuroLeague competitions. I think it's a real good competition, and when I was presented the opportunity, I definitely wanted to make the most out of it. I like the format. I definitely like the format. It's more like a full league and that's what I really like about it.  The competition is good, playing against good teams and going all over the place. It's definitely good travel as well. We've got a bunch of good cities in our group, like Paris and London. I hope we'll have enough time to maybe get out and do a little sightseeing. But obviously it's a business trip. So if we get to do it, great. If not, it's all good as well. I am looking forward to even more of the travel that we are going to have. It's been good so far. I have been having fun.

As for the season, we lost our first game and won all five games after that. We are taking the day-by-day approach, so we are not really looking at the full season. We are looking at what's happening today, we are looking at what's happening tomorrow and just trying to get better every single day. I think the coaching staff, the organization, the team, we've been doing a solid job at just staying on task and focusing on getting better every day. We have a good team, it was made up really, really well. The organization and coach, they have been doing a great job. They did a great job on getting this all together and, and we are really starting to gel.

I am sure Tyrique Jones has surprised a lot of people. He is super athletic, but first off, let me start by saying he's a great guy, a great person full of energy, and the team needs that. It's been great to play with him. He's a physical specimen and jumps extremely high. He has really good IQ for the game and is playing well. I think he's going to continue to play well. He's hungry and that's what we need.

2022-23 7DAYS EuroCup highlights: Tony Taylor, Turk Telekom Ankara

I have started pretty much on every team in my career, but I am coming off the bench this season. For me, this is not anything that is strange: it is just what's best for the team, and Coach feels like it's best for the team for me to come off the bench. I'm ready to perform and give everything I've got for the amount of minutes that I'm going to be on the court and just help the team as much as I can. The main goal, what they signed me for, is to win, play hard and give it our all.

Also, it is easy to play with Jerian Grant, he is pretty easy to play with. He's a great guy, finishes well, can shoot the ball, created a lot for the team... so he gets me a lot of open shots, and I'm happy about that! And not only me, but he gets the team a lot of open shots. He's just doing a phenomenal job of not only scoring the ball but assisting and getting rebounds. He's pretty much everywhere.

We play twice at home before we go on the road again but, like I said before, we have those games in front of us, but we are going day by day, day by day. One game is not going to make or break us. We're just focused on getting better every single day and taking one game at a time, and when those games come, they'll come.

We appreciate all the fans that have been coming out to the games and we want to make the city proud."

This is my fifth year in Turkey so I didn't need much adjustment, even when Ankara is a little bit colder. It's also a really nice city, definitely a change of pace from being in Izmir. In five years here in Turkey, I have been all over the country. But I really like the city, I like Ankara, there are great restaurants here. It's great for your family and everyone here has been great to me. And since I played in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, for two years, Ankara is not really that cold! I have definitely been to colder places!

I'm not really cooking that much. I have a family now, so I have been having the luxury of not having to cook so much and still eating really, really good. So I'm happy about that as well. I am saying this because the EuroLeague made a video some years ago in which I cooked. It was a funny video. There was good energy in the room, it was one of those just quick little funny moments. A lot of my family and friends at home, they make fun of me and they liked it. Everyone laughs at it. People still talk about it from time to time. Whenever I run into people, they actually watched the video, so it's cool.

The Round 7 opener between Promitheas Patras (4-2) and London Lions (3-3) will also serve as the head coaching debut for Yannis Christopoulos in the EuroCup after he took over at Promitheas last week. Christopoulos stepped into the shoes of Coach Makis Giatras, who stepped down due to health reasons. Christopoulos has not coached in Europe for almost a decade, though he has experienced the EuroCup as an assistant to Dirk Bauermann on the FC Bayern Munich bench for six EuroCup games during the 2011-12 season. It will be interesting to see what - if anything - will change in Promitheas's philosophy and how will the coaching change will influence an offense that ranks fourth with 85.5 points per game led by the EuroCup's top scorer, Joe Young, who leads the competition with 24.5 points per game.

### Round 7 derbies

The hottest two teams in the competition, Umana Reyer Venice (4-2) in Group A and Turk Telekom Ankara (5-1) in Group B will look to use their respective home floors to extend their winning streaks. After opening the season with two losses, Reyer will look to win its fifth in a row when it welcomes last year's finalist Frutti Extra Bursaspor (4-2), the winner of the last two itself. Jayson Granger, Marco Spissu and Allerick Freeman have been leading Reyer's backcourt, while Mitchell Watt and Derek Willis have been shining in the frontcourt, and they will look to continue to do so against Bursaspor.

Meanwhile, Turk Telekom overcame a home loss in the season opener to win five in a row and now welcomes Gran Canaria (4-2) to the Turkish capital on Wednesday. Turk Telekom and Gran Canaria are two of the five EuroCup teams that average double-digit three-pointers made, with Gran Canaria leading the competition with 12.5 per game and Turk Telekom averaging an even 10.0 triples per contest.

The other five-win team in the competition, Group A leader Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse (5-1), will host the dunking showtime that is Prometey Slobozhanske (3-3) on Tuesday. Led by the flying D.J. Stephens, Prometey delivers a bunch of highlight reel plays every night. But Bourg, which has been playing solid basketball all around, from Jordan Floyd and James Palmer on the perimeter to Isiaha Mike and Pierre Pelos inside, is coming off a resounding road win in Badalona and intends to build on that and stay top of the standings in Group A.

### Wednesday's slate

Four Wednesday games feature clashes that can help one set of teams pull away up in the standings while offering the others a chance to catch up. 7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys (3-3) will look to keep its perfect home record intact when it welcomes Germani Brescia (2-4), the loser of three straight. Newcomer U-BT Cluj-Napoca (2-4) has scored 80 or more points in every game so far this season and will hope to keep it up against Joventut Badalona's (4-2) top-scoring defense. Cluj and Joventut ate two of the teams that each average at least 20 assists per game.

Two teams looking to get back to winning ways will meet in northern Germany; Veolia Towers Hamburg (2-4) has lost three in a row, while Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv (3-3) has suffered two consecutive losses. Meanwhile, the team that won last week in Tel Aviv, Buducnost VOLI Podgorica (4-2), meets Dolomiti Energia Trento (1-5) in Group B. Both Buducnost losses this season have come on its home floor. Meanwhile, Trento snapped its 17-game EuroCup losing streak last week, but enters this one with 17 consecutive road losses. The last time Trento won away from home was in November 2020.

### Time to join the winning fun

The other Wednesday game is between Slask Wroclaw (0-6) and Paris Basketball (4-2). Slask desperately needs a win to start catching up with the rest of Group B, after losing the first six games by an average margin of 13 points. On the other hand, the newcomer from the French capital has yet to lose away from home. Led by the EuroCup's joint-second-best scorer Kyle Allman (19.8 ppg.) and the second-best rebounder Ismael Kamagate (9.5 rpg.), Paris has already beaten the top two teams in the group on the road, Turk Telekom and Buducnost, and intend to keep the streak going in Poland, too.

Meanwhile, the other winless team, Group A's Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (0-6) will be in search of its first win against ratiopharm Ulm (3-3) on Tuesday. Cedevita Olimpija finally got center Karlo Matkovic and veteran forward Zoran Dragic back last week and hopes that the group, led by point guard Yogi Ferrell (18.6 ppg.), his backcourt teammate Josh Adams, forward Edo Muric and center Alen Omic, can get onto the winning track against a young and talented Ulm. The two teams played a pair of highly entertaining games last season. Muric had 21 points and 8 rebounds in a home loss, while Dragic, a former Ulm player himself, had 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in Cedevita's road win. The team from Ljubljana needs those kinds of performances from its players this week.

Veolia Towers Hamburg will look to snap a three-game slide when it hosts Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv in a Group B showdown on Wednesday. Hamburg (2-4), which is 1-2 at home this season, has lost three of its games by 5 points or less, but is 1-4 when allowing at least 80 points this season which could be a problem against this week’s opponent. Hapoel (3-3) has lost its last two games, though it had a shot to win it at the buzzer in Gran Canaria in Round 5 and was without two key players in last week’s home loss against Buducnost VOLI Podgorica. Coach Danny Franco’s side is 1-2 on the road this season after beating Paris Basketball in the French capital in Round 2.

The backcourt matchups will be exciting with Hamburg leaning on Kendale McCullum (12.2 ppg., 5.8 apg.) and James Woodard (11.8 ppg.) to contain Hapoel’s Xavier Munford (17.0 ppg., 4.2 apg.) and J’Covan Brown (12.6 ppg, 6.8 apg.). Brown is expected to be back at full strength after missing last week’s game due to illness. The key matchup in the paint will see Hamburg’s Yoeli Childs (14.0 ppg., 8.2 rpg.) take on Hapoel newcomer Chinanu Onuaku. 

 

The Towers will not have it easy against Hapoel’s defense, which has allowed the fourth-fewest points in the competition (75.3 ppg.) this season. Hamburg’s attack is fourth-lowest in scoring with 79.8 points per game. Hamburg has committed the most turnovers in the competition, 17.3 per game, and Hapoel has made the second-fewest (12.0 per game). On Wednesday, turnovers could tell the story of this game.

Host Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (0-6) will be looking for its first win of the season when it welcomes ratiopharm Ulm (3-3) on Tuesday night in a Group A duel. This will be the seventh time these two teams meet in the EuroCup in one of the classic duels amongst the 20 teams this season. They currently stand at 3-3 in their head-to-head record. Cedevita dropped another game last week at Lietkabelis, 104-98, despite Amar Alibegovic's 19 points. On the other hand, Ulm comes from a heroic 105-106 decision at Prometey, in which Yago Dos Santos's 26 points plus 10 assists helped his team break its scoring mark in the 7DAYS EuroCup.

Cedevita is having big problems this season; it has the worst defense in the EuroCup (91.5 ppg.) and is also the team against which opponents rack up the highest average PIR (105.8). A win could be what it needs to start turning things around, but the team would still be far from being on the road to recovery. Ulm comes from a reinvigorating road win and will now look to take its second straight road success against a wounded opponent. On paper, the visitors overpower the hosts on almost every front (they are even fourth-best in the league in assists), while Cedevita is fourth-best in turnovers (13.0) and seventh-best in free throws (78.0%).

 

Curiously enough, Cedevita has five players averaging double digits this season, with Yogi Ferrell (18.8 ppg.) at the helm. The hosts will need those players to join together and find good shooting options while, at the same time, they improve on defense to try to stop Ulm. The visitors are led by Dos Santos (13.0 ppg. plus 4.7 apg. in a brilliant breakthrough season) and Karim Jallow (11.2 ppg.). This is already starting to look like a do-or-die game for Cedevita, so expect the game to be an intense one.

Two teams that endured different results last week clash in Group B when Promitheas Patras (4-2) welcomes the London Lions (3-3) on Tuesday. It will be Promitheas's first game in the competition following the news that Coach Makis Giatras has stepped down due to health reasons. In Giatras's last game with the team, Promitheas fell at home against Turk Telekom, 83-98, despite Joe Young's 30 points. London lands in Greece in the middle of a two-game winning streak, the last of which came at home against Slask, 97-80, led by Sam Dekker and his 18 points. This will be the first time that these two teams play each other.

The hosts boast the fourth-best offense in the competition (85.5 ppg.) mainly thanks to having the EuroCup's leading scorer, Joe Young (24.5 ppg.). However, the visitors seem to be a bit stronger in defense, and they are gaining momentum after back-to-back wins. Promitheas seems to be struggling to circulate the ball with the worst numbers in the league regarding assists (15.5) while London has the fourth-best mark overall (18.5). 

 

It's obvious that Young is the biggest offensive threat for the hosts, but London will have to also pay attention to Arnoldas Kulboka (14.3 ppg. and 8.3 rpg.). That duo has been making things happen for Promitheas, but the Lions' main strength is that six of its players are averaging 10 points or more per game, led by Tomislav Zubcic (15.5 ppg.) and Sam Dekker (14.2 ppg.). This combined effort makes the visitors a tough team to guard and Promitheas will have to watch out for that at the same time as it deals with the coaching change.

Promitheas hosts red-hot London

Two teams in a sweet moment will clash on Tuesday night in a Group A showdown when Umana Reyer Venice (4-2) hosts Frutti Extra Bursaspor (4-2). This will be the third time they ever meet in the 7DAYS EuroCup; Bursaspor holds a 0-2 edge from a regular-season sweep last year. Reyer comes rolling in after a road win at Germani Brescia in an Italian derby, 60-80, led by Allerik Freeman's 22 points for its third straight victory. Bursaspor also succeeded at home last week, 95-80, against U-BT Cluj-Napoca led by Onuralp Bitim and his 26 points for its second straight win.

Bursaspor has averaged 86.0 points per game, which is second-best in the EuroCup, and will be facing the second-best defense in the competition; Reyer has allowed a mere 73.2 points per game. Bursaspor has picked it up where it left off last season and is among the three best teams in the league in average PIR, points, offensive rebounds and three-point percentage. The hosts will have to rely on its momentum and the support of its crowd to try to defeat the runners-up from last season.

 

To do that, Reyer will look to its trio of scorers - Freeman (13.5 ppg.), Derek Willis (12.5 ppg.) and veteran Mitchell Watt (11.5 ppg.) - and try to put its vast experience on the court to good use. Bursaspor is relying on Bitim (18.6 ppg.), Derek Needham (15.0 ppg.) and Anthony Clemmons (13.3 ppg.) to lead the charge in Italy. One of these two teams will prolong its winning streak while the other will have to start over again when all is said and done in Venice.

Group A leader Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse (5-1) welcomes Prometey Slobozhanske (3-3) on Tuesday night in a Round 7 showdown that will also be the first time that these two teams play each other. Bourg comes off a big road win at Joventut, 80-85, in which James Palmer led the way with 23 points and 5 assists. Prometey dropped an epic home game by a single point, 105-106, to Ulm, despite 34 points by Gian Clavell.

Prometey has the best offense in the competition (86.3 ppg.) and also leads the EuroCup in both steals (10.7 spg.) and turnovers (11.8) which makes it the most reliable team in terms of taking care of the ball. Bourg is the best team in the league from beyond the arc (40.0%), but aside from that, it's only among the top five teams in blocks (3.5 bpg.). That means that Bourg does not excel at anything in particular, but does everything well, hence its top spot in the group.

 

Clavell (19.8 ppg.) is the main offensive threat that Bourg must watch out for, but Caleb Agada (15.2 ppg.) and DJ Stephens (12.2 ppg.) complete a trio that almost averages 50 points per game. The hosts have four players averaging 10 points or more, with Jordan Floyd (15.5 ppg.) and Palmer (14.8 ppg.) the main threats. The latter also averages 48.1% shooting from beyond the arc, so Prometey will have to watch that backcourt danger as it looks to return to the winning path.
