No fewer than 11 of the players who appeared in last season’s EuroLeague Championship Game boasted previous EuroCup experience. This season’s chase for glory could be greatly impacted by any number of the stars who climbed from the EuroCup to the EuroLeague this season. Here are the top 10 signings of EuroCup players by EuroLeague teams this offseason.

### Andrew Andrews, Panathinaikos Athens

Andrew Andrews was nothing short of a magical figure for Frutti Extra Bursaspor in its run to the EuroCup Final last season. After playing a minor role in the first half of the regular season, Andrews announced himself to the world with a 37-point outburst against eventual champion Virtus Segafredo Bologna in Round 10. He would reach 20 points seven more times after that, including 24 to stun Partizan NIS Belgrade in the eighthfinals and 20 against MoraBanc Andorra in the semis. His combination of scoring, playmaking and the ability to come up big in clutch situations should make Andrews a fan favorite in Athens.

### Jaron Blossomgame, AS Monaco

Half of the members of the 2021-22 All-EuroCup Teams will play in the EuroLeague this season, yet Jaron Blossomgame of AS Monaco is the only one of them who will be doing so with a new team. Blossomgame did it all for ratiopharm Ulm last season en route to ranking fourth in the EuroCup in average PIR with 19.8 per game. He rebounded like a power forward, ranking second with 7.6 rpg. per game, while shooting like a guard, with a 41.9% conversion rate from downtown. Those are skills that should fit in nicely in Monaco.

### Kevarrius Hayes, Zalgiris Kaunas

Kevarrius Hayes took tremendous strides last season with Bursaspor in what was only his third campaign as a professional. After making his EuroLeague debut in a reserve role with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in 2020-21, Hayes became a force in Bursa. He racked up his first double-double in just his third game and proceeded to impact games on both ends all season long. Hayes ranked third in the EuroCup in blocks (1.1 bpg.) and seventh in rebounds (6.8 rpg.). Among his signature performances were a 25-point, 11-rebound, 6-block romp against Ulm in the regular season and a 16-rebound effort against Andorra in the semifinal. Zalgiris fans should be excited to see more of that in Kaunas.

### Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, Panathinaikos Athens

After a breakout campaign with Lietkabelis Panevezys last season, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis returns home to Greece to play for Panathinaikos as a stronger and more mature player. The 23-year-old forward, who reunites with twin brother Panagiotis at Panathinaikos this season, averaged 13.0 points on 37.2% three-point shooting, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 19 EuroCup games for Lietkabelis. He scored 20 points in two of his first three games, first by getting to the line 13 times against Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and then making 4 of 5 threes against Dolomiti Energia Trento. That versatility will serve him well with the Greens.

### Maik Kotsar, Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz

Estonia-born center Maik Kotsar was not well-known outside of Hamburg entering last season, but he changed that in a big way. Kotsar averaged 13.4 points on 60.4% shooting, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 16 games to help the Towers reach the eighthfinals. Once there, he scored 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting against Valencia Basket, even though his team fell short in the game. His average PIR of 17.2 was ninth in the EuroCup, he led the competition in offensive rebounds (2.9 orpg.) and ranked eighth in rebounds. A big role should await Kotsar in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

### Johnathan Motley, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul

Before his season was cut short by injury, Johnathan Motley was the odds-on favorite to win the MVP. In his first European season with Lokomotiv, Motley dominated out of the gate with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks on opening night and did not slow down until he was sidelined. He averaged 21.2 points on 64.5% two-point shooting, 7.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks for a PIR of 23.9 in nine games. Those averages would have placed him second in the EuroCup in scoring and PIR for the season, and everyone will be watching to see how he transitions in his maiden EuroLeague campaign.

### Oriol Pauli, FC Barcelona

The return of small forward Oriol Pauli to boyhood club FC Barcelona is a nice story, but make no mistake, he is not going home to be a poster boy. Pauli narrowly missed the top 50 in the EuroCup in PIR, despite only starting in 12 of his 21 appearances. The jack-of-all-trades small forward contributed 8.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.7 steals for a PIR of 12.1 in helping MoraBanc Andorra reach the semifinals. Pauli dominated with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in that game, in which Andorra fell to Bursa. Now Pauli will set his sights on bigger goals.

### Darius Thompson, Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz

Signing with Baskonia was the next logical step in the ascending career of Darius Thompson. From a rookie season in the Dutch League where he emerged as MVP to successful campaigns in Italy and then a strong season in the EuroCup with Lokomotiv, Thompson’s career is ripe to take on the challenge of playing in the EuroLeague. Last season Thompson ranked in the top 10 in the EuroCup in assists (seventh, 5.8 apg.), steals (second, 1.7 spg.) and PIR (17.2). Watch out as he takes the keys to the Baskonia attack and looks to hound opposing ballhandlers as a EuroLeague rookie.

### Mike Tobey, FC Barcelona

Even though Mike Tobey has two full seasons of EuroLeague experience under his belt, he returns to the competition with a new team. Tobey and Barcelona joined forces after four seasons of facing each other regularly in the Spanish League and sometimes in the EuroLeague, too. Last season, he produced 10.3 points with excellent shooting (61.4% 2FG, 40% 3FG) plus 5.7 rebounds over 16 games in helping Valencia Basket reach the semifinals. Tobey’s size, skills and experience should be welcome additions to a Barcelona side seeking to win it all.

### Stefano Tonut, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan

A year removed from being named the Italian League MVP, Stefano Tonut is putting seven seasons with Umana Reyer Venice behind him to join the country’s national champs. A bulldog in the backcourt, Tonut averaged 10.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 16 EuroCup games last season, his fourth in the competition. Although Tonut joins a crowded Milan backcourt, he brings toughness and experience, which are two traits that Coach Ettore Messina values highly. All signs point to Tonut carving out a key role on a team with lofty aspirations.

Every season witnesses a handful of top talents use the 7DAYS EuroCup as a springboard to the continent’s premier competition, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Top signings: From the EuroCup to the EuroLeague

The 24 nations are broken down into four groups of six teams playing round-robin games in the group stage, which will take place in four countries: the Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany and Italy. The top four from each group will advance to the knockout stage in Berlin, Germany, starting with the Round of 16 on September 10. The winner of the 41st EuroBasket will be crowned on September 18 at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Here is a breakdown of the four groups:

### Group A

Group A will be played in Georgia and the two favorites in Tbilisi are reigning world champion Spain and Turkey. Spain lacks some of its traditional firepower and will rely heavily on Juancho and Willy Hernangomez as well as Usman Garuba and Real Madrid swingman [Rudy Fernandez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/rudy-fernandez/bmt/). Maccabi Playtika Tel Avi point guard [Lorenzo Brown](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/lorenzo-brown/009622/) will run the show and hope that [Xabi Lopez-Arostegui](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/xabi-lopez-arostegui/005356/), Sebas Saiz and [Joel Parra](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/joel-parra/007464/) can help carry the load.

Turkey will be a tough out with the trio of Cedi Osman, Furkan Korkmaz and Alperen Sengun leading the way alongside All-EuroLeague guard [Shane Larkin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/shane-larkin/007200/) of Anadolu Efes Istanbul, [Sertac Sanli](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/sertac-sanli/002968/) of FC Barcelona and [Sehmus Hazer](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/sehmus-hazer/011201/) of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, among others. Group host Georgia suffered a major blow a week before the tournament when reigning 7DAYS EuroCup champion Toko Shengelia suffered a shoulder injury and was ruled out. The hosts still have chances in front of their fans as Montenegro, Belgium and Bulgaria are also with them a level behind Spain and Turkey.

### Group B

Group B is the proverbial 'Group of Death' in which host Germany will welcome to Cologne the powerhouse trio of France, Lithuania and reigning EuroBasket champ Slovenia. Slovenia of course is led by Luka Doncic, who managed to convince 2017 EuroBasket MVP Goran Dragic to come out of national team retirement for a chance to run it back. But this Slovenian team is more than just those two stars, as Vlatko Cancar, [Klemen Prepelic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/klemen-prepelic/002661/) of Valencia Basket, Jaka Blazic and [Mike Tobey](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mike-tobey/008966/) of Barcelona among others know how to win.

France is missing a couple of pieces but the 2021 Olympic silver medalists still have Rudy Gobert, Evan Fournier, the Real Madrid duo of [Guerschon Yabusele](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/guerschon-yabusele/010357/) and [Vincent Poirier](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/vincent-poirier/004887/), [Elie Okobo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/elie-okobo/011212/) of AS Monaco and [Mouhammadou Jaiteh](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mam-jaiteh/002581/) of Virtus Segafedo Bologna. Lithuania boasts the top frontcourt in the competition with the duo of Jonas Valanciunas and Domantas Sabonis. The Baltic side will also have new Zalgiris Kaunas signing Ignas Brazdeikis but will need a big tournament from Barcelona guard [Rokas Jokubaitis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/rokas-jokubaitis/007519/).

Germany has one of its most talented teams in history with Dennis Schroder, Franz Wagner, Johannes Voigtmann, [Nick Weiler-Babb](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nick-weiler-babb/010391/) of FC Bayern Munich and [Maodo Lo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/maodo-lo/007032/) of ALBA Berlin as leaders. Plus the Germans will have a boost from the home fans in Cologne. The two outsiders in the group will be Bosnia and Herzegovina, who will be carried by Real Madrid's [Dzanan Musa](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/dzanan-musa/006540/) and Jusuf Nurkic; and Hungary, who finally will see [Adam Hanga](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/adam-hanga/005099/), also of Real, return to the team.

### Group C

Italy will host Group C in Milan and will face a top battle for the top spot from Greece while Croatia also has a chance. Italy has a rock-solid roster with the EA7 Emporio Armani Milan trio of [Nicolo Melli](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nicolo-melli/002849/), [Stefano Tonut](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/stefano-tonut/006509/) and [Luigi Datome](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/luigi-datome/ccd/); Simone Fontecchio and Efes forward [Achille Polonara](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/achille-polonara/002084/). However, Italy lost star veteran Danilo Gallinari just before the tournament and will have to make up for his absence.

Greece will be a fierce challenger for the title especially with Giannis Antetokounmpo extra motivated. But the two-time NBA MVP will have plenty of help with [Nick Calathes](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nick-calathes/001932/) of Fenerbahce, [Kostas Sloukas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kostas-sloukas/001926/) and [Kostas Papanikolaou](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kostas-papanikolaou/001255/) of Olympiacos Piraeus, their former teammate at the Reds Tyler Dorsey and [Kostas Antetokounmpo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kostas-antetokounmpo/011221/) of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, among others.

Speaking of stars, Croatia has its share of big names ready to compete with Bogdan Bogdanovic, Dario Saric, [Mario Hezonja](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mario-hezonja/003108/) of Real Madrid, Roko Prkacin, two-time EuroLeague champion Krunoslav Simon, [Jaleen Smith](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jaleen-smith/011192/) of ALBA Berlin and Ivica Zubac. The other teams in the group are Estonia, Great Britain and Ukraine.

### Group D

Another of the main favorites starts EuroBasket in Prague with two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic leading Serbia in Group D. Coach Svetislav Pesic’s Serbs have plenty of firepower alongside the star big man with former EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic of Efes, Nikola Milutinov, [Nikola Kalinic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nikola-kalinic/004866/) of Barcelona and Bayern's [Vladimir Lucic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/vladimir-lucic/001288/) and [Ognjen Jaramaz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/ognjen-jaramaz/004058/).

The Czech Republic will host the group and also is looking to take another step after reaching the FIBA Basketball World Cup quarterfinals in 2019 and playing at the Tokyo Olympics. Leading the charge will be [Tomas Satoransky](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/tomas-satoransky/002939/) and [Jan Vesely](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jan-vesely/000925/) of Barcelona, Vojtech Hruban of the London Lions and Ondrej Balvin of Prometey Slobozhanske.

Israel will be hungry to continue its development with their hopes on the shoulders of Deni Avdija, [Tamir Blatt](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/tamir-blatt/011193/) and [Yovel Zoosman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/yovel-zoosman/006625/) of ALBA Berlin, [Yam Madar](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/yam-madar/011052/) of Partizan Belgrade, and [Roman Sorkin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/roman-sorkin/011219/) and [Guy Pnini](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/guy-pnini/lkx/) of Maccabi. Also in Group D are Finland, Netherlands and Poland.

After a five-year wait, FIBA EuroBasket 2022 is finally upon us and the field of 24 teams is loaded with stars with several countries holding strong chances of dethroning Slovenia when it’s all said and done on September 18.

Trento completes roster with Crawford

Dolomiti Energia Trento announced on Monday the completion of its roster for the new season with the announcement of [Drew Crawford](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/drew-crawford/010254/), the 2018-19 Italian League MVP. Crawford (1.96 meters, 31 years old) arrives from MoraBanc Andorra, where last season he averaged 9.7 points and 2.8 rebounds in 20 7DAYS EuroCup games, helping the team reach the semifinals.

Crawford played college ball from 2009 to 2014 at Northwestern University and he soon travelled to Europe, where he played in several teams and countries, like Israel, Germany, Italy or Turkey. In 2018-19 he was named MVP of the Italian League while playing with Cremona. In 2020-21 he played for Germani Brescia, also in Italy, before joining Andorra. 

"We are happy to have landed a player with such value and experience like Drew Crawford" Trento coach Lele Molin said. "He is a player we wanted to bring to Trento because he matches the technical profile we were seeking."

Much of the focus in the basketball world right now is on international basketball and the coming tournaments, including the EuroBasket. In the shadows of the national teams, teams from the 7DAYS EuroCup are already down to business. This is an important time in the year for these teams, as coaches begin to implement the style of play they want to adopt in the coming season, while new additions to the roster get acclimatized to their new teammates.

Nearly all of the teams in this season's 7DAYS EuroCup are hard at work with their preseason training camps underway. Here's a rundown of how it's going. 

Preseason preparations continue with training camps

[Coach Andrej Urlep](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/slask-wroclaw/wro/urlep-andrej/?season=U2022) returns with seven players from that squad and several veteran additions. Together, this strengthened roster should make some noise.

### BACKCOURT

Point guard [Jeremiah Martin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/slask-signs-point-guard-martin/) was handpicked to run the Slask offense. Martin, 26, will make his EuroCup debut, though he impressed in his first European stop in Germany last season. On top of his offensive game, Martin’s quick hands make him an excellent ball thief on defense. [Lukaz Kolenda](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/lukasz-kolenda/011165/) was a part-time starter last season and proved effective as a second playmaker. Improving his outside shot could take Kolenda’s game to the next level. [Daniel Golebiowski](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/slask-wroclaw/games/wro/) and [Jakub Karolak](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jakub-karolak/005848/) figure to split most of the minutes at shooting guard. Karolak is a top-tier three-point marksman while Golebiowski, who is another EuroCup debutant, is comfortable shooting from deep and attacking the rim. Teenager Aleksander Wisniewski will soak up experience and should get a chance to appear in some games, too. [Justin Bibbs ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/slask-adds-scoring-punch-with-bibbs/)has a proven track record as a scorer and will try to become a go-to guy for Slask in his first season on the Old Continent. [Jakub Niziol](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/slask-reunites-with-forward-niziol/), who grew up in the Slask system, is back with the club after eight seasons away and that experience will ensure he contributes on both ends of the floor.

### FRONTCOURT

Stretch-4 [Conor Morgan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/conor-morgan/009680/) figures to have an important role on the team. Aside from his shooting, Morgan’s experience, leadership and winning mentality make him someone [Coach Urlep](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/slask-wroclaw/wro/urlep-andrej/?season=U2022) knows he can rely on in big spots. [Ivan Ramljak](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/ivan-ramljak/004917/) was a starter last season and a blue-collar player who has a nose for being in the right place at the right time. Slask will be able to pound the ball inside thanks to [Aleksander Dziewa](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/aleksander-dziewa/011168/), who was a revelation as a EuroCup rookie last season, and [Art Parakhouski](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/artsiom-parakhouski/003034/). The former should only grow from practicing with the seasoned Parakhouski, which will make Slask’s frontline a source of fear for opponents. [Szymon Tomczak ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/szymon-tomczak/011170/)should resume his role as a physical reserve while [Maciej Bender](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/maciej-bender/profile/100063/), who joined the team last season but has been sidelined by injury, could make an impact when healed. At 2.11 meters, Bender gives Slask another valuable big body in the paint.

### PLAYER TO WATCH

[Jeremiah Martin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/slask-signs-point-guard-martin/)’s career is in ascension and he will look to take the next step in the EuroCup this season with Slask. After a standout college career, Martin played in the NBA and G-League and then in New Zealand and Germany. He has shown the ability to score, set up teammates and wreak havoc on defense at every step. Martin’s speed and confidence should not only make him dangerous for opponents, but should raise the play of his teammates too. Martin’s ability to push the ball in transition and to work with the team’s bigs in the paint will be crucial for Slask, which makes him a player to watch this season.

### OUTLOOK

Slask will start the season with a tough road game at [Gran Canaria](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/gran-canaria/roster/can/), but then plays three of its next four games at home. The team was one of the first to get working this summer and was playing exhibition games already in August. That should have the players hitting their stride earlier than some other teams and when it hits that run of home games against [Buducnost VOLI Podgorica](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/buducnost-voli-podgorica/roster/bud/) in Round 2, [Turk Telekom Ankara](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/turk-telekom-ankara/roster/ttk/) in Round 4, and [Promitheas Patras](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/promitheas-patras/roster/pat/) in Round 5, Slask should be ready. If Coach Urlep’s men take advantage and gain confidence at that point, a second straight season in the knockout rounds could very well be in the cards.

As it enters its second consecutive EuroCup campaign, Polish champion Slask Wroclaw looks to continue building its reputation at the continental level after reaching the eighthfinals last season.

Roster rundown: Slask Wroclaw

Hapoel Tel Aviv announced on Sunday that it has signed homegrown talent Ilay Dolinski to a seven-year contract. 

Dolinski (2.05 meters, 17 years old) is a product of the club’s youth academy and this season will continue to star for the youth team will debuting for the senior squad. He played for Israel at the U18 European Championship over the summer where he averaged 3.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Weluche Ume, to make EuroCup debut with Lions

On Friday evening the 7DAYS EuroCup newcomers London Lions announced the addition of young forward Zamoku Weluche Ume for the next season. Weluche Ume (2.03 meters, 17 years old) arrives from the Barking Abbey Basketball Academy, the affiliated team of the London Lions who plays in the British second division. Last season, Weluche Ume averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 18 games as a starter. This will be Weluche Ume's first experience at the top level and also his debut in the EuroCup.

After a season in which Joventut Badalona's 7DAYS EuroCup run was stopped cold in the first elimination round, the Catalan club has regrouped and brought in a few new faces to try to be better prepared for the latter stages this time. Always a candidate to go all the way in the competition, Joventut will have to go all in from the get-go in another tough season.

### BACKCOURT

Joventut's backcourt will be led by one of the most experienced players in the EuroCup, [Pau Ribas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/pau-ribas/jug/). With him, several other faces return including [Pep Busquets](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/pep-busquets/006771/), [Andres Feliz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/andres-feliz/011247/), [Albert Ventura](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/albert-ventura/001611/) and [Guillem Vives](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/guillem-vives/002361/), making it a deep and experienced group at guard that should run the team smoothly. Joining them will be EuroCup debutant [Kyle Guy](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/joventut-adds-shooting-ace-guy/), a sharpshooter coming directly from the United States with NBA experience under his belt. On the wings, the team has one of the hottest young talents in Europe, [Joel Parra](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/joel-parra/007464/), coming off his break-through season, teaming up with [Yannick Kraag](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/yannick-kraag/010161/), another youngster who will work to get more and more playing time.

### FRONTCOURT

In the paint, things are also well-defined for Joventut as superstar [Ante Tomic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/ante-tomic/002507/) and the club extended their relationship this summer for three more seasons. Tomic will be flanked by [Simon Birgander](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/simon-birgander/009682/), a homegrown talent who continues to grow his game from season to season. Two new additions will complete Joventut's roster for the 2022-23 season - [William Howard](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/william-howard/002534/), who arrives from ASVEL with two EuroLeague seasons under his belt, and [Henry Ellenson](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/joventut-signs-forward-ellenson/), a big man who has made waves in the Spanish League and is now set to make his EuroCup debut.

### PLAYER TO WATCH

[Andres Feliz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/andres-feliz/011247/) has all the signs of becoming the latest Joventut-homegrown player who becomes a renowned pro. He made a name for himself at CB Prat, the club's affiliated team, and then went on to the pro level joining Joventut just last season. In his debut year in the EuroCup, Feliz averaged 5.3 points on 42.3% three-point shooting and 2.3 assists in 16 games and he helped Joventut reach the Spanish League semifinals. This will be an important year in Feliz's career as he will have to establish himself as a player who belongs at this level. True to his name, he had a happy summer with a [three-year extension](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/joventut-re-signs-playmaker-feliz/) with Joventut and now he will hope to have the same level of happiness in the season that is about to begin.

### OUTLOOK

Joventut is always a title contender in the EuroCup. Last season it had it all going for it until [ratiopharm Ulm](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/ratiopharm-ulm/roster/ulm/) ambushed the team in the single-game eighthfinals. [Coach Carles Duran](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/joventut-badalona/jov/duran-carles/?season=U2022) will surely remember that and will try to find the right chemistry from the start, even if a lot of that should already be in place having kept most of the group from last season. The key for Joventut will be to peak at the right time of the season and keep its cool when the money time comes. Having two of its first three games on the road, it will be a good test right out of the gate to see where the team stands in a season that could bring very good things to *Penya*.

Roster rundown: Joventut Badalona

As Reyer embarks on its fifth EuroCup campaign - and fourth in a row, [Coach Walter De Raffaele](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/umana-reyer-venice/vnc/de-raffaele-walter/) takes a largely rebuilt squad and aims to at least match the club’s best result to date – a quarterfinals appearance in 2020.

### BACKCOURT

Reyer has a deep and talented backcourt with many players who boast significant EuroLeague experience. [Jayson Granger](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jayson-granger/003024/) will play in the EuroCup for the first time since the 2010-11 season and in that time, he has suited up for four teams over eight seasons in the EuroLeague. He has also overcome serious injuries and brings a hunger alongside his leadership and playmaking skills that could be critical for Reyer. [Andrea De Nicolao](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/andrea-de-nicolao/000968/) has been with the club since 2017 and serves as a classic playmaker off the bench. Combo-guard [Marco Spissu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/marco-spissu/004381/) was second in the EuroLeague in three-point accuracy last season (52.9%) with UNICS Kazan and his versatility is another weapon Coach De Raffaele can make use of in matchups. Scoring machine [Allerik Freeman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/allerik-freeman/010389/) averaged 19.6 points in nine EuroCup games last season before a mid-season move to CSKA Moscow and should resume assaulting EuroCup baskets from Round 1. [Riccardo Moraschini](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/riccardo-moraschini/000726/) was the club’s first signing in the offseason. The shooting guard spent the last three seasons in the EuroLeague with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and will be a threat from deep for his new team. Small forward [Michael Bramos](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/michael-bramos/002906/) begins his eighth season in Venice and at age 35, still provides outstanding defense and shooting from the wings. [Jordan Parks](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/reyer-brings-in-forward-parks/), who will debut in the competition, balances Bramos at the ‘3’ spot.

### FRONTCOURT

Vocal leader [Jeff Brooks ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jeff-brooks/004117/)returns for a second season with Reyer. He did not disappoint as the starting power forward last season and can be counted on to make a big impact again. He will share minutes with stretch-4 [Derek Willis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/derek-willis/009664/), who has made 48.4% of his threes in two previous EuroCup seasons. [Matteo Chillo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/reyer-adds-frontcourt-depth-with-chillo/), one of the few players on the roster without previous EuroCup experience, will also be in the mix at power forward. Together, Brooks, Willis and Chillo ensure that Reyer will always have the ability to crash the boards and open space on offense thanks to its power forwards. [Mitchell Watt](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/mitchell-watt/006332/) begins his sixth campaign with Reyer and has been among the best centers in the EuroCup in recent years. Watt will not have to carry as much weight inside thanks to two exciting signings. [Amedeo Tessitori](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/amedeo-tessitori/003759/) helped Virtus Segafredo Bologna win the EuroCup last season and may have a bigger role with Reyer. [Yankuba Sima](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/reyer-completes-roster-with-center-sima/?pageTitle=Homepage&historyUrl=/eurocup/), who arrives from the Spanish League, could be a difference-maker on the glass.

### PLAYER TO WATCH

[Yankuba Sima](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/reyer-completes-roster-with-center-sima/?pageTitle=Homepage&historyUrl=/eurocup/) is one of the few additions to Reyer this season who is untested at this level. However, the 26-year-old spent the past four seasons with BAXI Manresa in the Spanish League and always contributed on the glass. Last season he had eight games in which he collected at least 5 rebounds in less than 20 minutes and he averaged at least 9.1 rebounds prorated over 40 minutes n each of his seasons with Manresa. Rebounding is a skill that generally translates well from league to league and that bodes well for Sima and Reyer. Although he may not be a big-time scorer, Sima knows how to use his 2.11-meter frame in the paint and could emerge as a force inside for Reyer this season.

### OUTLOOK

Although question marks often surround teams that sign nine new players in one summer, Reyer is a different case. The new-look roster is full of a healthy mix of hungry veterans with high-level experience. The new faces include a reigning and another former EuroCup champion as well as four players who were in the EuroLeague last season. It may take time for Coach De Raffaele to get them all on the same page, but these are players willing to sacrifice numbers for success and the combination of depth and skill level will make Reyer a dangerous opponent all season long.

This will be a historic season for Umana Reyer Venice as it marks 150 years since its founding.
