Lietkabelis Panevezys has confirmed the arrival of Benas Griciunas on a one-year deal. Griciunas (2.10 meters, 28 years old) joins from Neptunas Klaipeda, where he averaged 11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 20.8 minutes on the court during 33 Lithuanian League games last season. He will make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut in the 2022-23 campaign.

Griciunas, who was born in the United States and played college basketball for Auburn University, UNC Charlotte and Eastern Washington University, began his professional career with BC Siauliai of Lithuania in 2018. After two seasons there, in which he increased his averages in scoring and rebounding, he joined Neptunas. Again, Griciunas saw his numbers increase in his second season. He will be hoping to now carry that momentum into his debut campaign with Lietkabelis in the EuroCup. Griciunas has also represented Lithuania at youth level.

Last season Promitheas had the worst record in Group B and failed to make the playoffs. Several additions have been made to the roster and there will be greater expectations placed on Coach Makis Giatras's team in 2022-23. Ahead of the new campaign, here are four fixtures for Promitheas supporters to get excited about.

### Round 1: Starting off on the right foot

The opening round of the 2022-23 EuroCup season sees Promitheas travel to take on Dolomiti Energia Trento. Both teams finished bottom of their respective groups last year, so they will be equally determined to start the new campaign with a victory. With plenty of new players on the rosters of Promitheas and Trento, it should make for a fascinating contest at BLM Group Arena.

### Round 7: Making experience count

One of the new teams that Promitheas will come up against next season is the London Lions, which will come to Patras on December 6. Promitheas can bank on four years of experience in the EuroCup as one of its advantages. Last season, Promitheas went 3-6 at home, so it will be eager to build on that and turn Dimitris Tofalos Arena into a fortress this season.

### Round 11: Exacting revenge

Gran Canaria had the upper hand against Promitheas during their two regular-season meetings last year, winning both games, but Coach Giatras and his team will be hoping to flip the script in 2022-23. The first clash between these two clubs comes in Patras in Round 2, yet this Round 11 fixture is likely to have more on the line. A surprise win for Promitheas against one of the EuroCup preseason favorites would provide a massive boost of confidence heading into the final part of the season.

### Round 17: Sending the fans home happy

Promitheas has its last home game of the season in Round 17 when it hosts Paris Basketball at Dimitris Tofalos Arena. Of its four wins last season, three of those came in Patras, so it will be eyeing a victory against a newcomer to try to secure its place in the playoffs. New Promitheas signing D.J. Funderburk will also get a chance to face his former team, as he played for Paris in the last few months of last season.

Promitheas Patras enters its fourth 7DAYS EuroCup season with the hope of improving on its performance from the 2021-22 campaign.

The son of former EuroLeague player Gert Kullamaee, Kristian began his career with Audentes Tallinn of his native Estonia before signing with Rockets Gotha in Germany when he was just 17 years old. He has also played for Baunach in Germany and Real Canoe and Bahia San Augustin, both in Spain. Kullamaee made his debut with the Estonia national team in 2019 and has been a regular ever since.

Competition newcomer U-BT Cluj-Napoca added some important 7DAYS EuroCup experience to its roster by signing a deal with swingman [Victor Sanders](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/victor-sanders/010446/), the club announced Monday. Sanders (1.94 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Umana Reyer Venice where he averaged 7.4 points, 1.6 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 16 games last season. It was his second consecutive season in the competition after playing for Dolomiti Energia Trento during the 2019-20 campaign. He has made a total of 32 appearances in the EuroCup over the past two seasons.

Sanders has also played in Belgium for Telenet Giants Antwerp, which he helped reach the Basketball Champions League final four in 2019. He also captured two Belgian cups with Antwerp. That was the only other professional team Sanders played for after finishing his college career at the University of Idaho.

### Promitheas, Paris find their scorers

Promitheas Patras started off the week with a bang by inking combo guard [Joe Young](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/promitheas-signs-scoring-ace-young/) to a one-year deal. Young is set to test his scoring skills in the EuroCup for the first time after having averaged 18.2 points in the G League last season. He was also able to lead the Chinese League in scoring a couple of years back, as he averaged 38.3 points in 44 games in the 2019-20 campaign. Promitheas has also added a big body in the paint after bringing back veteran center [Michalis Tsairelis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/promitheas-reunites-with-veteran-big-man-tsairelis/). Meanwhile, Paris Basketball has found its scoring weapon in guard [Tyrone Wallace,](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/paris-signs-guard-wallace/) who posted 20.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists in the G League last season. Paris did not stop there, though, as it added more scoring in the form of power forward [Aamir Simms](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/paris-inks-power-forward-simms/), who will make his debut in the EuroCup in 2022-23.

### Return of former EuroCup stars and two D.J.s

Prometey Slobozhanske has bulked up in the paint ahead of its competition debut by adding a former All-EuroCup center in [Ondrej Balvin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/prometey-bulks-up-with-balvin-at-center/). The Czech big man returns to the EuroCup, where he last played with Gran Canaria in the 2017-18 campaign, when he earned All-EuroCup Second Team honors after posting averages of 10.6 points and 7.3 rebounds. Balvin is one of three players that Prometey signed this week, as there was the return of two D.J.s – [Stephens](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/prometey-brings-back-stephens/) and [Kennedy](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/prometey-secures-return-of-kennedy/) – who have both previously played in the competition. Elsewhere, Germani Brescia re-signed [Amedeo Della Valle](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/brescia-keeps-all-eurocup-guard-della-valle/), who ranked second in the Italian League in scoring last season with 18.0 points a game. It marks Della Valle's return to the EuroCup, where he was an All-EuroCup First Team selection in 2018 during his time wearing Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia's uniform. ### Trento, Lietkabelis get top talents on loan

Thursday saw a pair of teams, Dolomiti Energia Trento and Lietkabelis Panevezys, each add a prodigious European teenager to their respective rosters. In one of the most intriguing moves of the EuroCup off-season, Trento has brought in [Matteo Spagnolo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/trento-gets-spagnolo-on-loan-from-real-madrid/) on loan from Real Madrid for the upcoming season. Spagnolo starred during a loan spell with Cremona in the Italian League last season, posting 12.2 points on 44.1% three-point shooting, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Trento hopes he can take another step towards stardom in its jersey. Lietkabelis, on the other hand, has secured the arrival of [Paulius Murauskas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/lietkabelis-tabs-forward-murauskas/) on loan from Zalgiris Kaunas. The 18-year-old is one of the brightest young talents at Zalgiris, and last year he dominated in the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament, averaging double-double numbers. Murauskas also played well while on loan at Nevezis in the Lithuanian League. Both Spagnolo and Murauskas have opted to remain with teams from their respective native countries, choosing EuroCup as the best place to develop their immense talent.

### Rebounding aces fill rosters

Umana Reyer Venice completed its roster this week with the arrival of center [Yankuba Sima](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/reyer-completes-roster-with-center-sima/), as it adds depth in the paint. Another team who made an addition to its frontcourt is Hapoel Tel Aviv, who inked rebounding ace [Chris Horton](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/hapoel-signs-defensive-ace-horton/), the French League's leader in rebounds (8.1 rpg.) and blocked shots (1.8 bpg.) last season. Trento also signed forward [Darion Atkins,](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/trento-bolsters-frontcourt-with-atkins/) who pulled down 6.5 rebounds in the German League with Chemnitz last season. Meanwhile, Gran Canaria has kept a proven veteran commodity by re-signing [Oliver Stevic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/gran-canaria-inks-stevic-for-another-season/) for another season. Stevic has averaged 4.6 rebounds in 102 EuroCup appearances.

### Trio keeps their captains

Brescia, Veolia Hamburg Towers and Buducnost VOLI Podgorica have all announced deals to keep their team captains. On Monday, Brescia confirmed that [David Moss](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/brescia-veteran-moss-together-another-season/) will stay with the team for a seventh consecutive season. The 38-year-old forward has been Brescia's team captain since November 2016. A day later, Hamburg extended [Seth Hinrichs](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/hamburg-keeps-captain-hinrichs/) for a further two years, tying him to the club until 2024. Later that same day, Buducnost declared that it had finalized terms on a deal with captain and club legend[ Suad Sehovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/news/buducnost-team-captain-sehovic-stay-together/), extending their partnership for a 10th consecutive season.

The teams in the 7DAYS EuroCup are continuing to work hard to build strong squads ahead of the 2022-23 season, which is just a couple of months away. Here are some of the most noteworthy EuroCup signings from the last week.

The week in EuroCup signings

Dolomiti Energia Trento brought back a familiar face on Saturday, signing guard [Trent Lockett](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/trent-lockett/006383/) to a one-year deal. Lockett (1.96 meters, 31 years old) returns to the club six years after playing a key part in helping Trento reach the 2016 EuroCup semifinals. Lockett has had plenty of success in the competition, also helping UNICS Kazan reach the semifinals in 2019, and quarterfinals a year earlier. Over his three EuroCup campaigns, Lockett has started in 55 of his 61 appearances, averaging 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals.

Lockett arrives from Chemnitz in Germany, where he posted 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the German League last season. He started his pro career back in 2013 with Reno in G League, and during the course of his career has also played with Braunschweig in Germany, Betis Sevilla in Spain, Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel and Treviso Basket in Italy.

Trento reunites with veteran guard Lockett

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana has added firepower to its backcourt by signing guard [Josh Adams](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/josh-adams/007872/) for the upcoming season, the club announced on Saturday. Adams (1.88 meters, 28 years) spent last season with Tasmania JJ in the Australian League, where he averaged 17.5 points, 3.3 points and 2.0 assists. He now returns to the 7DAYS EuroCup, where he played in 2020-21 with Virtus Segafredo Bologna, helping the team reach the semifinals as he posted averages of 8.2 points, 1.5 assists and 1.3 rebounds. Adams made his competition debut a year earlier with Unicaja Malaga.

"We are happy and pleased that Josh will join us in the upcoming season", said Cedevita sports director Sani Becirovic. "He is a player who has a desire to improve, prove himself and compete, and he also knows majority of players on the team. We think he will fit in very quickly and we believe that he will be a great help in reaching our goals".

Adams started his professional career with Avtodor Saratov in Russia before joining Anadolu Efes Istanbul, where he played for the majority of the 2017-18 season and where he made 16 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, averaging 7.0 points. Adams also played professionally with Besiktas Istanbul in Turkey, and he split the 2018-19 season between Toronto of the G League and Shanxi Zhongyu of the Chinese League.

### Round 2: Home opener

History will be made on October 19, as Paris hosts its first EuroCup game at Halle Georges Carpentier. Paris welcomes Hapoel Tel Aviv to the French capital in Round 2 after making its debut on the road against Turk Telekom Ankara, so it will be determined to put on a show in front of its home supporters. This is a never-seen-before showdown in European competition and, with both teams being EuroCup newcomers, there are plenty of reasons to keep an eye on this game in the French capital.

 

### Round 4: A familiar face

Gran Canaria visits Paris on November 2, which should be a special game for starting playmaker Andrew Albicy. Born in Sevres, right outside Paris, Albicy started his professional basketball career with another team in the city, Paris Basket Racing. Albicy is a 2018-19 All-EuroCup First Team selection and ranks second all time in assists with 432. With friends and family in the stands, Albicy will be very motivated to perform well in Paris.

### Round 9: The Eurotunnel derby

The representatives from Paris and the London Lions were joking about facing each other before the 2022-23 EuroCup Draw in early July, and in the end, they were both drawn in Group B. Both Paris and London are exciting EuroCup newcomers located in two of the best cities in the world, and this could be a first step in an interesting sports rivalry. It will be fascinating to see which team can win the bragging rights after their first meeting at Copper Box Arena in London on December 21.

### Round 16: Finishing strong

If Paris keeps its playoffs options alive, the last three games are likely to be critical. Paris plays two of its last three matches at home, and its Round 16 showdown against Slask Wroclaw should be especially important. Slask, the Polish League champion, ranked eighth in Group A last season, so grabbing a victory could see Paris all but secure its place in the elimination rounds. Paris then plays against Promitheas Patras in Greece before finishing the regular season at home against London.

Paris Basketball is one of five newcomers to the 7DAYS EuroCup next season. Founded in 2018, it is a new, ambitious club that is growing every year under president David Kahn's guidance. The club started in the French second division and then claimed its spot in the country's elite by the end of the 2020-21 campaign. The next challenge is for Paris to show its qualities in the EuroCup. Here are four games from Group B that Paris fans can look forward to.

2022-23 Games to watch: Paris Basketball

Paris Basketball has announced the addition of power forward Aamir Simms for the upcoming season. Simms (2.03 meters, 23 years old) spent last season with Westchester in the G League, where he posted 12.5 points on 37.3% three-point shooting, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 36 games, which was his first professional season after spending four years at Clemson University. He is now set to make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut with a newcomer to the competition in Paris.
