Umana Reyer Venice has added more size to its frontcourt by signing [Yankuba Sima](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/ngt/players/yankuba-sima/005596/) to its roster ahead of the next 7DAYS EuroCup season. Sima (2.11 meters, 25 years old) has played three of the last four seasons with Manresa Basquet of his native Spain. Last season, he averaged 7.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 36 Spanish League games, of which he started 16. He played a combined total of 92 games in the Spanish League over his three seasons in Manresa, averaging 5.7 points and 2.9 rebounds.

Sima had previously played college basketball in the NCAA from 2015 to 2018 with St. John's and Oklahoma State. He also debuted with the Spanish national team last year. Previously, Sima had represented Canarias Basketball Academy in the 2013-14 ANGT qualifier in Belgrade, averaging 9.2 rebounds in 24 minutes per game. He has also played for Club Baloncesto Breogan and Club Ourense Baloncesto of Spain.

Promitheas Patras added depth to its frontcourt by bringing back center [Michalis Tsairelis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/michalis-tsairelis/ten/), the club announced Friday. Tsairelis (2.08 meters, 34 years old) arrives from a fellow Greek side Larissa where he posted 7.7 points and 3.0 rebounds last season. Tsairelis returns to Promitheas where he already played in the 2018-19 season. 

Veteran big man also returns for his fourth season in the 7DAYS EuroCup, having made a debut with Aris Thessaloniki in 2010 and spending two seasons there, and also played one with PAOK Thessaloniki. Tsairelis also played in a pair of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague seasons with Olympiacos Piraeus, making a total of seven appearances from 2014 to 2016. Tsairelis started his career with Apollon, and also played with AEL, Trikala Ifestos, Iraklis and Peristri in his native Greece, and also with Tenerife in Spain.

Lazic (2.03 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Mornar Bar, where he averaged 8.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in 26 Adriatic League games last season. In his two seasons with Mornar Bar, he helped his team reach both the Montenegrin League and Montenegrin Cup finals in back-to-back campaigns.

Lazic started his career in Slovenia, playing for Union Olimpija Ljubljana, Geoplin Slovan Ljubljana and LTH Castings Skofja Loka. He has also played for Dynamic BG Belgrade and Mega Bemax of Serbia, as well as for Primorska Koper of Slovenia. Lazic helped Primorska win the Slovenian Cup title in 2020. He has also been a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Lazic played the 2020-21 7DAYS EuroCup with Mornar Bar, averaging 2.3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12 games. 

### Round 1: Making a statement

Ulm kicks off its regular season campaign at home against Umana Reyer Venice, which has made several eye-catching moves over the summer. Both Ulm and Reyer will be aiming to secure their place among the top clubs in Group A come playoff time, so this match is a good opportunity for both teams to make an early statement. These two went 1-1 during the 2021-22 regular season, with both winning their games at home, so perhaps Ulm will feel like it has the upper hand.

### Round 4: Setting the record straight

In its second road game of the regular season, Ulm travels to take on the 2021-22 EuroCup runners-up, Frutti Extra Bursaspor. Last season saw Bursaspor do the double over Ulm, recording a 68-66 victory at home in Round 8 before winning 86-72 in Germany in Round 17, but coach Dusan Alimpijevic's team is looking rather different now. Nevertheless, it should be another tough test for Ulm against Bursaspor, but grabbing a road win would do wonders for its confidence.

### Round 14: Fond memories

Very few people gave Ulm a realistic chance of beating Joventut Badalona at Palau Olimpic de Badalona in the eighthfinals of last season's EuroCup playoffs, but that's exactly what it did. Joventut is once again one of the favorites to go on and win the EuroCup, but Ulm has experience of quietening down the home crowd in Badalona and will be eager to pull off another surprise result. There is likely to be a response from Joventut as it looks to make amends for last season, however, which makes this a must-watch game.

### Round 16: One eye on the playoffs

In Ulm's penultimate home match of the 2022-23 regular season, it hosts Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana at ratiopharm arena. When Ulm and Cedevita met last season, they both managed to win on the road, so it will be interesting to see how this fixture plays out this year. Also, the playoffs will be just around the corner at this point of the season, which means the result of this game could go some way to deciding where they will finish in the Group A table.

Spagnolo (1.94 meters, 19 years old) spent last season on loan with a fellow Italian League side Cremona, where he posted 12.2 points on 44.1% three-point shooting, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in Italian League action.

Considered one of the most talented young guards in Europe, Spagnolo played for the youth teams of Stellazzurra Rome in his native Italy before joining Real Madrid in 2018. He played for both teams in the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament, helping Stellazzurra reach the championship game in 2018 prior to winning the title with Real in 2019 and 2021.

Spagnolo made his professional debut with Real in the Spanish league in March 2020. He has also been a member of the Italian national team, and he is now set to make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut.

Lietkabelis Panevezys has announced the arrival of [Paulius Murauskas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/ngt/players/paulius-murauskas/009324/) on a one-year loan from Zalgiris Kaunas. Murauskas (2.04 meters, 18 years old) averaged 18.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 blocks in four Adidas Next Generation Tournament matches for U18 Zalgiris Kaunas last season, while in the same campaign he also recorded averages of 8.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 26 Lithuanian League games during a loan spell at BC Nevezis.

Murauskas is one of the brightest young talents at Zalgiris, with which he made his first-team debut during the 2020-21 season, as he featured in three matches. He also played for Lithuania at the U16 European Championship in 2019. At Lietkabelis, Murauskas will get the chance to play in the 7DAYS EuroCup.

Veolia Hamburg Towers added a scoring threat to their perimeter, signing guard James Woodard on a one-year deal, the club announced Thursday. Woodard (1.91 meters, 28 years old) arrives from a fellow German side Ludwigsburg where he averaged 9.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the German League action, while helping the team reach the Basketball Champions League Final Four posting 6.1 points and 2.6 rebounds.

Woodard now reunites with Hamburg's head coach Raoul Korner, after the two worked together at another German side, Bayreuth, where Woodard led the team in scoring with 13.0 points per game. During his professional career, Hamburg's new scoring guard also played with Rouen in France, Nevezis in Lithuania, MZT Skopje in North Macedonia, Cantu in Italy and Peristeri in Greece. Woodard is now set to make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut.

Hamburg inks scoring guard Woodard

Prometey Slobozhanske has confirmed the return of [DJ Stephens](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/dalenta-stephens/005982/) for the upcoming season, the team announced on Thursday. Stephens (1.96 meters, 31 years old) made 22 appearances for Prometey last season before basketball was brought to a halt in Ukraine, at which point he joined Fos Provence of France. He averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 10 Ukrainian League matches in 2021-22. Then, with Fos Provence, he averaged 11.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 12 French League games.

Stephens spent four years at the University of Memphis before going on to play professionally for Ilysiakos of Greece, Milwaukee and Memphis of the NBA, Anadolu Efes Istanbul of Turkey, Zenit Saint Petersburg of Russia, Canton, Iowa and Memphis of the G League, Budivelnyk of Ukraine, Vaqueros de Bayamon of Puerto Rico, Le Mans of France and Manama Club of Bahrain. In 2020 he joined Prometey and remained there until 2022, when he signed for Fos Provence. Now, Stephens returns to Prometey to compete in the 7DAYS EuroCup.

Horton (2.03 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Nanterre 92, where he averaged 13.7 points on 62.0% two-point shooting in 28 French League games last season. He led that competition in rebounds (8.1 rpg.) and blocked shots (1.8 bpg.), ranking third in steals (1.9 spg.).

Horton started his career with Grand Rapids of the G League and also played for Alba Fehervar of Hungary, GS Kymis of Greece, as well as for Cholet Basket and BCM Gravelines Dunquerke before joining Nanterre last season. Just as his new team, Horton is set to make his EuroCup debut next season. "I'm happy to welcome Chris to our team. He is an athletic big guy with a wide set of skills on both sides of the court," Hapoel head coach Danny Franco said. "This signing has completed our squad towards the start of the pre-season."
