Pallacanestro Brescia bolstered its frontline with the addition of forward Nicola Akele on a two-year deal with an option for one more season, the club announced on Saturday. Akele (2.03 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Treviso Basket where last season he posted 5.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in the Italian League and averaged 7.6 points on 41.7% three-point shooting plus 4.5 rebounds in the Basketball Champions League.

Akele grew up with Umana Reyer Venice, where he made his professional debut in 2014 at the age of 18. After four years at the University of Rhode Island in the NCAA, Akele spent a season apiece with Roseto and Vanoli, before playing the last two years in his hometown of Treviso. He is now set to make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut.

ratiopharm Ulm has a new head of bench after agreeing to terms with Anton Gavel on a two-year contract, the club announced on Saturday.

Gavel, 37, is former player with a vast experience in the 7DAYS EuroCup and Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. A native of Slovakia, he has spent the last three years with Ulm as the coach in its Orange Academy, guiding teams in the German third division, German junior league, as well as the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament. Gavel now takes a role of a head coach on professional level for the first time.

"It's a special challenge for me", Gavel said. "There is responsibility on both sides. Above all because ratiopharm Ulm once again showed the courage to take risks by choosing me as a young coach."

On the bench, Gavel replaces Jaka Lakovic who guided Ulm the past three seasons, and who also got his first head-coaching opportunity with the club.

"Anton embodies like no other that you can get to the top with down-to-earth, hard work", said Thorsten Leibenath, Ulm's sporting director. "His training methods are state-of-the-art, He knows how to push his players without losing sight of his empathetic approach. He fully identifies with the club and the OrangeCampus philosophy, a philosophy of development, improvement, the next step. So it quickly became clear to us that Anton would be our first point of contact for Lakovic's successor."

Gavel had a long playing career that started in 2001 with Karlsruhe and ended in 2018 with FC Bayern Munich. He had 70 appearances in the EuroLeague and 80 in the EuroCup over a 10-year period between 2008 and 2018. He is now set to make his head coaching debut in the EuroCup with Ulm.

Hamburg Towers announced the signing of big man Yoeli Childs for the coming season. Childs (2.03 meter, 24 years old) returns to Germany after playing for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg at the beginning of last season. He averaged 10 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1 block in two appearances before returning to the United States, where he played for Salt Lake City in the G-League. Childs posted 15.6 points, 10.2 boards and 1.4 blocks in 23 games with Salt Lake City. It was Childs’s second campaign in the G-League after playing for Erie the year before. Before that, Childs was a three-time All-West Coast Conference First Team selection at Brigham Young University.

Slask Wroclaw announced on Friday that it has agreed to terms with Coach Andrej Urlep to remain together for another season.

Slask Wroclaw announced on Friday that it has agreed to terms with [Coach Andrej Urlep](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/slask-wroclaw/wro/urlep-andrej/) to remain together for another season. Urlep, 64, assumed the reins as head coach in October and ultimately guided Slask to the 7DAYS EuroCup Playoffs and the Polish League championship. This is Urlep’s fourth stint on the Slask sidelines. He first coached Slask from 1997 to 1999, then again from 2000 to 2002, and from 2006 to 2010. He helped the team win Polish League titles in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002 in addition to last season.

Urlep has also coached Imos Jezica of Slovenia, PGE Turow Zgorzelec, AZS Koszalin, Stelmet Zielona Gora and Energa Czarni Slupsk of Poland, Dzukija ALytus of Lithuania, and Mono Vampire Bangkok of Thailand, as well as the Slovenian and Polish national teams. He won the Polish League with Anwil Wloclawek in 2003.

Turk Telekom Ankara bulked up its frontline by signing center [Emircan Kosut](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/emircan-kosut/004096/) for the coming season. Kosut (2.16 meters, 26 years old) arrives from fellow Turkish side Yukatel Merkezefendi, where he was a teammate of another recent Turk Telekom signing, Nate Sestina, last season. Kosut averaged 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds over 29 games in a reserve role with Yukatel. 

The big man has previous experience at the highest levels; Kosut was a member of the Darussafaka Istanbul team that won the 7DAYS EuroCup in 2018 and he also played a total of 25 games in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague over four seasons with Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Darussafaka. Kosut spent one season with Yesilgiresun, too.

Slask Wroclaw announced on Thursday that it has signed guard [Lukasz Kolenda](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/lukasz-kolenda/011165/) to a two-year contract extension. Kolenda (1.95 meters, 22 years old) averaged 5.8 points and 2.6 assists in 16 games as a part-time start in the EuroCup last season in what was both his first season with the club and in the competition. He was also worth 8.1 points and 2.6 assists in the Polish League. Kolenda is a product of the youth system at Trefl Sopot and made his professional debut with that club. He has also been a member of the Polish national team.
