Virtus playmaker Milos Teodosic dished 13 assists, the most of any players this round, and averages 9.2 assists, the best in the competition this season. The Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse duo of Hugo Benitez and Jacorey Williams had 4 steals apiece in Round 14. Andrew Albicy of Gran Canaria tops the steals charts with 1.9 on average. Ferrell has become the go-to guy for Cedevita since he joined the club before Round 6. Starting in each of his eight appearances heading into this game, he has averaged 16.3 points on 50.0% shooting from both two- and three-point range while dishing 4.8 assists, all for a PIR of 17.1 on average.

Cedevita has committed the third-most turnovers in the EuroCup this season with an average of 15.6 per game. Cedevita boasts at least 92 points scored in each game of its three-victory streak, but to keep that offense humming, the team would do itself a favor by taking better care of the basketball. If Cedevita can continue to lower the number of turnovers while playing at the same pace, it will be a tough team to stop at home. 

Promitheas has struggled on the offensive end of the court this season. The team has the third-lowest 72.9 points per game in the EuroCup. It ranks among the bottom four teams in both two-point (50.5%) and three-point (32.0%) accuracy. Improving those numbers is critical on the road, and Promitheas has a good chance to do that from deep since Cedevita has allowed opponents to shoot 36.8% from downtown so far this season. 

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana will look to build on the momentum of its three consecutive wins when it hosts Promitheas Patras in a rescheduled Round 9 game on Thursday, which is their first meeting this season.

Pauli, who came into the game averaging 7.5 points per game this season, started the night just 6 points shy of 500 in his 7DAYS EuroCup career. He needed less than 5 minutes to get those with points Nos. 500 and 501 coming on a steal and slam that made it 11-6. 

The forward remained a threat all night long and put up an impressive line while finishing with 13 points to tie his season high. He made 5 of 6 two-pointers and 1 of 2 threes, though he also missed his only 2 free throws. Pauli corralled 8 rebounds, dished 3 assists, collected 2 steals and committed just 1 turnover in compiling a career-best performance index rating of 22 in his 93rd game over six EuroCup seasons. His previous best had been 21, set when he played with Gran Canaria against ASVEL Villeurbanne in December 2017. 

Pauli's excellent game was not just about numbers. He seemed to be in the right place to make an impact all game long. His 7 first-quarter points and 2 steals helped Andorra to a strong start. He added 2 points, 2 boards and 1 assist in the second quarter. Like most of his teammates, Pauli had a quiet third quarter, but he was back with a bang in the fourth with 4 points, 4 rebounds and a critical assist to Drew Crawford.

Dziewa poured in 25 points –  seven more than the previous best of this, his first 7DAYS EuroCup season –  to go with 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block for a performance index rating of 28. The PIR was also 7 above his previous high.

Dziewa scored 14 of his points within the first 5 minutes of the game, which was of major importance as Slask needed to win by at least 5 points to win the tiebreaker with Trento and have a much better chance of reaching the playoffs.

The 24-year-old center has been with the club since 2016 when the storied franchise of 10 Polish League titles in a 12-year span between 1991 and 2002 was lingering in the third division. Dziewa helped Slask jump leagues twice and now is a leader for the team in its first season back in the EuroCup since 2008. And his big game against Trento might end up being enough to get Slask into the playoffs.

Gran Canaria used its bread-and-butter perimeter defense to secure a hard-fought 87-81 victory at home over Frutti Extra Bursaspor.

Gran Canaria hassles Bursaspor enough to get tough win

Gran Canaria came into the game as the EuroCup leader in steals with 9.2 per game and ranked second in forced turnovers with 15.9 per game. Gran Canaria head coach Porfi Fisac knew his guards would need to force things as Bursaspor had committed only 11.7 turnovers a game - third-fewest.

Six different Gran Canaria players had steals - including Andrew Albicy with 2 - and that led to Bursaspor committing 16 turnovers. The backcourt combo of Andrew Andrews (5 turnovers) and Derek Needham (3) had eight miscues amongst them. And thus Gran Canaria’s defense prevailed in the important battle of turnovers.

MoraBanc Andorra tied a club record for steals and forced Joventut Badalona into a season-high in turnovers in claiming a 72-71 victory on Wednesday.

The home team came through with 13 steals, which marked the third time it had as many ball thefts in the EuroCup. And the 20 it forced Joventut into marked that club’s season-high – and just 3 off the most ever by Joventut.

Where those stats help tell the story of the game is that Andorra had 34-11 advantage in points off turnovers. Not only did the hosts commit only 9 turnovers, but Joventut scored just 1.22 points off each Andorra turnover. Andorra capitalized on Joventut’s to the tune of 1.7 points per turnover.

Clevin Hannah led the hosts with 3 steals and Oriol Pauli, Mario Nakic and Moussa Diagne had 2 each. The other steals came from Codi Miller-McIntyre, Drew Crawford, Guillem Colom and Conor Morgan with 1 each.  

 

That is how Andorra was able to win a game in which it was outrebounded 26-38 and outshot on both two-pointers (51.3%-61.3%) and threes (28.0%-31.6%). Joventut even had a whopping 69-82 advantage in performance index rating, but it was not enough on this night.

Boulogne Metropolitans 92 enjoyed a peaceful journey to its fifth win in a row when it outplayed Hamburg Towers at home 85-62.

The hosts trailed 2-4 in the early going, but they soon took the reins of the game by pushing their opponent into several mistakes that turned into easy fastbreak points. Metropolitans had 7 steals off Hamburg's 10 first-half turnovers, while its opponent could convert only 4 of its opponent’s 8. That was good for a 53-32 lead at halftime that proved definitive.

The winners also found a very balanced offense to set the foundation of the victory, as they recorded 15 assists in the first 20 minutes and 25 at the end of the game, which allowed all Metropolitans players who played more than 3 minutes (10), fill the box score. Maxime Yiomi, who stayed just 2:56 on the court, was the only local player unable to score.
