Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana added a key offensive weapon to its backcourt for the 2025–26 BKT EuroCup season by signing Joseph Girard

Cedevita Olimpija captures Lithuanian League scoring leader Joseph Girard

[Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/cedevita-olimpija-ljubljana/roster/lju/) added a key offensive weapon to its backcourt for the 2025–26 BKT EuroCup season by signing Joseph Girard, the club announced Sunday.

Girard (1.85 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Nevezis Kedainiai, with which he led the Lithuanian League in scoring with 21.0 points per game last season. A prolific shooter with deep range and a fearless approach, Girard also averaged 3.0 assists. He was a 50-40-90 shooters, making 54.5% of his two-point baskets, shooting 41.5% from deep and 90.8% on free throws.

“I’m coming to Ljubljana for challenges and to win,” Girard said. “I’m excited to join a club like Cedevita Olimpija, which has a winning tradition, great fans, and a clear vision. I want to help the team get back to the top and compete hard every night.”

Girard did all of that in his first season as a professional. After setting the New York State high school record for scoring, Girard played four seasons for Syracuse University and one with Clemson University in the NCAA. He left college as one of the top 20 scorers in ACC history with 2,196 career points and ranks third in Syracuse history for three-pointers made (297).

Mensah (2.10 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv, which he joined late last season, but never played for. Before that he signed with Olympiacos Piraeus and made his EuroLeague debut. Mensah appeared in two EuroLeague games and started the 2024-25 season with the Austin Spurs in the G League, where he averaged 5.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 12 games.

The center has one season of NBA experience under his belt, having suited up 25 times for the Charlotte Hornets in the 2023-24 campaign and posting 1.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in just over 12 minutes per night. A native of Ghana, Mensah moved to the United Stated to play basketball in high school and was a two-time Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year at San Diego State University before starting his professional career in 2023.

Slask adds Polish League's top rebounder, Stefan Djordjevic 

[Slask Wroclaw](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/slask-wroclaw/roster/wro/) took another step in building a competitive roster for the 2025-26 season by signing big man [Stefan Djordjevic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/stefan-dordevic/006977/), the club announced Sunday.

Djordjevic (2.06 meters, 26 years old) comes off a monster season with Polish League rival AMW Arka Gdynia. He led the league with 8.9 rebounds and was second in scoring with 19.0 points per game. Djordjevic shot 68.5% from the field and topped the PIR charts with 24.2 per game.

A product of the Crvena Zvezda Belgrade youth system, Djordjevic played for Zvezda in the NextGen EuroLeague and then began his career with FMP and KK Vrsac. In 2021 he joined Igokea, with which he won back-to-back Bosnian League and Cup doubles. After one season in Spain with Basquet Girona, Djordjevic moved to Poland last season and posted monster numbers. The Serbian international is now set to make his EuroCup debut with Slask.

Let’s break these teams down. In 2021 you have Teodosic, who though past his prime, remained a master passer and came up big in big games; he averaged 21.0 points in the three-game semifinals. On the wings were Jamar Smith, one of the great shooters in EuroCup history, and a young Cordinier, whose athleticism and defensive toughness would lead him to stardom in years to come. In the paint, Reed was a force of nature and made 70% of his two-pointers that season, while Lessort was just scratching the surface of the All-EuroLeague big man he would become. 

The 2023 leader would be that season’s MVP, Grant, whose healthy dose of scoring, playmaking and defense is perfect for this exercise. Stephens’s explosiveness and Bouteille multi-level scoring makes for a great pairing on the perimeter.  Shurna could serve as a model for a streth-4; he made 48.5% of his threes that season! And Tomic anchors the 2023 frontcourt with his size and secondary playmaking ability.

The 2021 team is stronger at overall defense, on the glass and at protecting the rim. The 2023 team has better shooting and more offensive balance. But in a straight-up matchup, the power inside of the 2021 team – whether scoring or putting back misses – could be too much for Shurna and Tomic. And with Teodosic's majestic passes and Cordinier slashing while Smith stretches the floor, it seems that the earlier team has more than enough, with all due respect the 2023 version. London Lions keep talented Matthew Goodwin

The London Lions announced Saturday that Matthew Goodwin is staying with the club which is making a return to the BKT EuroCup in the upcoming season. Goodwin (1.88 meters, 19 years old) has spent last season with the club, and appeared in 27 games in the British League in limited fashion. He scored a total of 28 points, but shot 42.9% from long range. He also averaged 5.3 points in six British Cup games.

That was Goodwin's first full professional season. The teenager grew up with Manchester Magic, playing in their academy and for their lower division team. He made his professional debut with the Manchester Giants in the 2023-24.

Over the last three years, Goodwin has also been playing for the British national teams in youth categories. He is now set to make his EuroCup debut.

Forward Ciaran Sandy stays with the London Lions

The London Lions and [Ciaran Sandy](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/ciaran-sandy/012584/) have agreed for another season together, the club announced Saturday. Sandy (2.04 meters, 25 years old) has spent the last two seasons with the club, and posted 4.4 points and 2.6 rebounds in the British League action last season.

A Londoner, Sandy joined the Lions in the summer of 2023 from Mercyhurst University in the United States. That season he made five brief appearances in the BKT EuroCup, totaling 2 points and 3 rebounds. That season, the team reached the EuroCup semifinals, and also won the British League championship.

Turk Telekom Ankara made another addition to its roster, signing center [Marko Simonovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/marko-simonovic/012711/) to a one-year deal on Saturday. Simonovic (2.13 meters, 25 years old) helped its teams reach BKT Eurocup semifinals in each of the last two seasons.

Simonovic arrives from Bahcesehir College Istanbul, where he posted 8.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in EuroCup action. He appeared in 21 games, coming off the bench in all but one.

Season before that Simonovic played at Besiktas Istanbul, where he averaged 8.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 10 EuroCup games, also helping the team reach the Eurocup semifinals.

Simonovic started that 2023-24 season with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, where he appeared in 11 EuroLeague games before joining Besiktas in January.

Born in Montenegro, Simonovic started his career with his hometown club Garstka Kolasin. He later played for OKK of Montenegro, PMS Moncalieri San Mauro and Mens Sana 1871 Siena of Italy, Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia and Mega Belgrade of Serbia before spending two years in the United States with the Chicago Bulls in the NBA and their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.

Simonovic has also been a member of the Montenegrin national team.

He has played for Besiktas and Bahcesehir the past two seasons

Slask Wroclaw signs point guard Kadre Gray

[Slask Wroclaw](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/slask-wroclaw/roster/wro/) announced on Friday that it has signed Canadian point guard Kadre Gray for the 2025-26 campaign.

Gray (1.91 meters, 27 years old) arrives from CS Valcea, where last season he averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.2 steals. Gray was second in the league in both scoring and assists and third in PIR (21.0).  He also had the highest-scoring game in the league with a 50-point effort against Rapid Bucharest in February. Valcea finished third in the regular season and reached the playoff semifinals.

The Canadian international has a bevvy of awards from his home country. He is a two-time winner of the Mike Moiser Memorial Trophy, given annually to the best men's basketball player in the Canadian university system. He was named the 2023 CEBL Canadian Player of the Year for his play with the Ottawa Blackjacks. Gray spent three summers with the Blackjacks and also played for the Fraser Valley Bandits and the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the CEBL.

Gray began his European career in 2021 with Leyma Coruña in the Spanish second division and the next year joined Bayern Leverkusen in the German second division. Then came a season in Poland with GTK Gliwice before his strong year in Romania last season. Gray has played for Canada at the FIBA AmeriCup and in World Cup qualifying.

Soko (2.01 meters, 34 years old) averaged 9.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals in 19 British League games for the Lions last season.

The forward returned to the Lions ahead of the 2022-23 season for the club's inaugural season in the BKT EuroCup, a campaign in which he averaged 11.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals in eight games. He did not play in 2023-24 but re-signed for London ahead of 2024-25. He will continue to lead the Lions as they mark their return to the EuroCup this coming season.

Since turning professional in 2014, Soko has played for Boulazac Dordogne in France (2014-15), Trikala Aries in Greece (2015-16), Enel Brindisi in Italy (2015-16), Murcia in Spain (2016-19), the Lions (2019-20; 2022-23; 2024-present), Le Mans Sarthe in Greece (2020-21), and the Shiga Lakestars in Japan (2021-22). During the 2016-17 season with Murcia, Soko made his EuroCup debut, appearing in five games and averaging 5.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist.

He is in his third stint with England's capital club
