He returns to the BKT EuroCup after a four-season hiatus
Panionios adds experienced guard Michalis Lountzis

Panionios Athens added side and experience to its backcourt with the signing of playmaker Michalis Lountzis, the club announced Wednesday.
Lountzis (1.95 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Promitheas Patras, where he averaged 11.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 24 Greek League games last season. He also led the competition in steals (1.5 spg.).
Lountzis started his career with Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens and later played for fellow Greek clubs GS Kymis, GS Lavrio Aegean Cargo and Olympiacos Piraeus before starting a second stint with Promitheas last season.
He won three Greek League and six Greek Cups with Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, and has been a member of the Greek national team. Lountzis helped Greece win respective gold medals at the 2015 U18 European Championships and the 2017 U20 European Championships.
Lountzis averaged 1.2 points in 52 EuroLeague career games with Panathinaikos and Olympiacos. In his only previous EuroCup experience, he averaged 6.7 points and 3.1 rebounds in 10 games with Promitheas in the 2020-21 campaign.
