Paris Basketball did not find much trouble to thrash Wolves Vilnius 79-110 in the Lithuanian capital to keep first place in Group A, now with a 9-1 record. Its perimeter players made the difference at Avia Solutions Group Arena.
Paris star guards shined in Vilnius
T.J. Shorts matched a personal-best with 24 points, hitting 7 of 12 two-pointers and 2 of 4 three-pointers. He set a new career high with 11 assists to just 1 turnover, getting his second double-double of the season. Shorts's extreme efficiency sharing the ball remains Paris's biggest key to its 9-1 start. In 10 games, Shorts has dished 76 assists and picked up just 17 turnovers.
Wolves led 13-9 early in the game until Shorts decided he had enough. He had 10 points in a 0-17 run that put Paris ahead for good, 13-26. Shorts amassed 13 points and 5 assists in the opening 15 minutes, leading Paris to a 22-47 margin.
"It is a lot of fun. When you have a good group of guys in the locker room and you are doing what you love every day, you see the results. It is a lot of smiles. It is a lot of being happy for each other and just having fun," Shorts said after the game. "We know we have a tough schedule but this is what we all signed up for. At the end of the week, you just want to finish strong and today, we were able to come home with the win."
At that point of the game, Hifi had buried his third three-pointer to give Paris a 25-point lead. Hifi kept knocking down shots until he returned to the bench for good late in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with 24 points on 6-for-9 shooting from downtown, scoring in double-digits for the 10th time in as many games and reaching the 20-point mark for the fourth time this season. The 21-year-old has already buried 6 three-pointers twice this season.
Shorts and Hifi allowed Paris to get its seventh road win in as many games. Its fans are now in for a treat: Paris plays its next four games at home, and they will have a chance to see two of the most spectacular players in the competition way more often than before.
