Promitheas Patras went into the second half of the 7DAYS EuroCup calendar looking to figure out how to replace the scoring output of the competition's leading scorer, Joe Young. The Greek side ended up sharing the sugar in a balanced 84-71 win over Dolomiti Energia Trento.
Promitheas had five players score in double figures to snap a three-game home losing streak, which improved its record to 6-4 in the process. It was the first game after Young and the club parted ways, leaving new head coach Ioannis Christopoulos with the task of trying to replace the American’s 23.4 points per game.
Arnoldas Kulboka and Anthony Cowan were the only other players who had averaged double-figure totals in scoring thus far this season, with 14.6 points and 10.2 points, respectively.
Against Trento, though, George Conditt led the way with 17 points, 10.1 more than his average coming into the game, while Kulboka had 16 points. New addition Joe Thomasson chipped in with 15 points on his debut, Trevis Simpson added 12 points, 2.3 more than his average, and Nemanja Dangubic contributed 10 points, 6.4 better than his average.
Overall, Promitheas's approach of finding several different scorers proved key, as it found a way to fill the Young-sized hole on the box score.
