Umana Reyer Venice added firepower and experience to its backcourt by inking point guard Marco Spissu, the club announced Wednesday. Spissu (1.82 meters, 27 years old) arrives from UNICS Kazan, where he averaged 5.1 points on 87.5% free throw shooting and 2.6 assists in 25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games, all of them coming off the bench, last season. He ranked second in three-point shooting (52.9% 3FG, 17-of-51), only trailing Rokas Jokubaitis of FC Barcelona (56.8%, 25-of-44). It was his first EuroLeague season and now, Spissu is set to make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut with Reyer in the upcoming 2022-23 campaign.

Spissu joined UNICS from boyhood club Dinamo Sassari, where he spent the previous four years. He averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 assists and 1.6 steals in 27 Italian League games in the 2020-21 season. Spissu was also a member of the Italian national team this summer at the Tokyo Olympics. He has spent time on loan at Italian clubs Sant'Orsola, CUS Bari, Casalpusterlengo, Reggio Calabria, Derthola and Virtus Segafredo Bologna. Spissu helped Virtus win the Italian second-division Cup as the MVP in 2017. He won the FIBA Europe Cup in 2019 with Sassari.
