Reyer tabs forward Carl Wheatle

Umana Reyer Venice improved its roster by signing forward Carl Wheatle to a multi-year deal, the club announced Monday. Wheatle (2.00 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Giorgio Tesi Group Pistoia, where he played the last five seasons. He averaged 8.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and a PIR of 9.9 in 33 Italian second division games with Pistoia last season.
Born in Lambeth, England, Wheatle started his career with London Greenhouse Pioneers. He has also played for Pallacanestro Biella in Italy and is a member of the British national team.
"I am very happy to arrive at Reyer and thank them for having wanted me so much: it represents an important opportunity for my career," Wheatle said. "I am very excited for this new adventure; it is a challenge that comes at the right time. Reyer is an ambitious club, the reviews I have received are great and I believe I am in line with the club's mentality and work culture. As a player, it is important for me to feel part of a family and of a club that is important to its region. I am excited to play in the EuroCup and I can't wait to get started!"
