Umana Reyer Venice has signed veteran playmaker Juan Fernandez on a multi-year deal.
Fernandez (1.93 meters, 33 years old) last played for Italian side Trieste, where he averaged 7.6 points and 3.1 assists in 14 Italian League games in the 2021-22 season.
He has not played basketball for the last couple of years after taking a break due to stress.
"I want to genuinely thank Reyer for this opportunity," Fernandez told Reyer's official club media. "I have the fire inside me, but only I know this and the fact that the club believes in me means so much. This trust pushes me to do the best for Venice; I could not find a better situation to come back to Italy and compete at the highest level. Given my particular situation, my real preparation to return to the court began on April 1: I am following a specific work program to arrive prepared for August 21. I have set myself important goals and it is an ambitious challenge, but my motivation is great."
