Round 10 at a glance: 2023 opens with 10 rematches

The second half of the 2022-23 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season is upon us. Round 10, the first this calendar year, is set to feature reverse legs of the season-opening matchups, with two games on Tuesday, and the remaining eight on Wednesday.

Paris Basketball vs. Turk Telekom Ankara

Two of the top three teams in Group B will square off on Tuesday when Turk Telekom Ankara (7-2) takes its perfect road record to the French capital to face Paris Basketball (6-3). The hosts have won four of their last five games, but are just 1-3 on their home floor. Turk Telekom, meanwhile, has lost just once since its 75-90 home defeat against Paris in the first game of the season and is 4-0 away from home this season. Three of those road wins were decided by 5 points or fewer.

Germani Brescia vs. Joventut Badalona

The opening Group A game of 2023 in pits Germani Brescia (4-5) and a group leader Joventut Badalona (6-3) on Tuesday night. Both teams are looking for their third straight wins. Brescia's potent offense, which posted a club-record 110 points the last time it played, now faces one of competition's top defenses, which held Brescia to just 63 points back in their season opener in October.

7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys vs. Prometey Slobozhanske

7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys (4-5) will put its strong 4-1 home record to the test on Wednesday when it welcomes to town Prometey Slobozhanske (5-4) and its high-scoring offense. Prometey, in its first EuroCup season, averages a second-ranked 87.0 points, which will be its calling card in Panevezys. When these two Group A teams met in Round 1, Prometey celebrated an 82-71 triumph.

Frutti Extra Bursaspor vs. Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana

Familiar foes meet again when Frutti Extra Bursaspor (5-4) hosts Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (2-7) on Wednesday. These two Group A sides not only clashed to open this season, but also met in the EuroCup Quarterfinals last season. Both games were in Ljubljana and both times Bursaspor held onto victory. In a rivalry that only started in 2020, Bursaspor and Cedevita have already played six games, each winning three, including Cedevita prevailing twice in Bursa.

Promitheas Patras vs. Dolomiti Energia Trento

Dolomiti Energia Trento (2-7) will try to snap its 19-game road losing streak when it visits Promitheas Patras (5-4) on Wednesday. The last time Trento won away from home in the EuroCup was in November 2020, an 80-89 decision in Patras. Now, more than two years later, Trento will try to end its drought against a Group B rival that has lost its last three home games.

U-BT Cluj-Napoca vs. Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse

U-BT Cluj-Napoca (3-6) and Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse (6-3), two teams trying to get back on the winning track in Group A, face off on Wednesday. Both have lost their last two games. Those defeats dropped Cluj to ninth place, outside of playoff zone, while Bourg no longer has sole possession of first place. Their first meeting was a tight one in which Bourg held on to an 88-85 win.

Veolia Towers Hamburg vs. Buducnost VOLI Podgorica

With a new head coach on the bench, Veolia Towers Hamburg (3-6) will aim for a season sweep of visiting Buducnost VOLI Podgorica (5-4) on Wednesday. A victory would help Hamburg get closer to the middle of the Group B standings. In their season opener, Hamburg upset Buducnost 66-73 in the Montenegrin capital. That result saw the fewest points Hamburg has scored or allowed all season and the lowest scoring for Buducnost yet.

Slask Wroclaw vs. Gran Canaria

In a battle of teams with the worst and best records in Group B, last-place Slask Wroclaw (1-8) welcomes Gran Canaria (7-2). Slask gave Gran Canaria a good battle in the season opener before A.J Slaughter, with 23 points and 5 triples, helped Gran Canaria pulled away in the fourth quarter. Slask, however, went on to lose the next seven games before finally registering its first win at the end of 2022. Now, Slask hopes to start 2023 the way it ended last year and pull off a big upset.

Umana Reyer Venice vs. ratiopharm Ulm

Umana Reyer Venice (5-4) and ratiopharm Ulm (5-4) are set to go against one another for the fourth time since November 2021 as they aim to climb up the standings. Reyer has been streaky this season and is currently on a two-game losing skid that it hopes to end against a familiar opponent that it has beaten in their previous two games on its home floor. Ulm, which won their Round 1 game 81-80, already has three road wins this season and enters this contest on a two-game winning streak.

London Lions vs. Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv

A pair of newcomers who have been doing pretty well in its first EuroCup season meet again in Group B when London Lions (4-5) welcomes Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv (5-4) on Wednesday. The visitors, who lead the competition in average scoring (87.4) and assists (21.4), downed London 76-59 in the season's first game. But London had its top performer, Sam Dekker (16.6 ppg., 4.9 rpg., 3.3 apg.), for less than 5 minutes in that one, and hopes his presence will help lead the team to a different outcome.
