Cluj moves for Zach Hankins
U-BT Cluj-Napoca has announced the signing of Zach Hankins, who was the 2022-23 Israeli League MVP.
Hankins (2.11 meters, 27 years old) joins the club from Israeli side Hapoel Jerusalem, where he averaged 9.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 12 Basketball Champions League games last season.
The 2022-23 campaign saw Hankins named to the All-BCL First Team after leading Hapoel all the way to the final, posting 12.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.6 blocks in 17 BCL games. Domestically, the American center averaged a double-double of 13.1 points and 10.2 rebounds in the Israeli League, which saw him named as the league's MVP.
Hankins began his professional career with Czech club CEZ Nymburk in 2019-20 but finished that season with Maccabi Rishon LeZion in Israel. He spent the following year in the G League with the Birmingham Squadron, then played for Puerto Rican outfit Mets de Guaynabo in 2022 before joining Hapoel.
Next season, he will make his EuroCup debut for Cluj.
