In a back-and-forth battle that went down to the wire, ratiopharm Ulm held off Frutti Extra Bursaspor 92-86 on Wednesday night. It was Ulm's third consecutive victory, improving it to 8-5, for a share of the second-best record in Group A, while last year's EuroCup finalist Bursaspor dropped to 6-7 on the season. Ulm also swept the season series against Bursaspor.

Ulm was paced by big man Bruno Caboclo, playing in only his fourth game in the competition, and dominating inside with 33 points on 14-for-17 two-point shooting. He also had 8 rebounds. Brandon Paul netted 19 points on 6-for-9 three-point shooting, Thomas Klepeisz scored 11, while Yago Dos Santos dished 11 assists. Derek Needham scored 22 points for the visitors, Zach Auguste collected 13 points and 7 rebounds and David Dudzinski collected 12 points plus 8 rebounds.

The two teams traded blows in the early going, with Paul knocking down a pair of threes and Caboclo scoring twice from close range for Ulm. Needham and Bitim led the visitors' efforts, before a pair of buckets from Saybir fueled a 0-12 run to end the first quarter and put the visitors up 18-26.
Ulm closed the gap taking it to the rim, which included Fuchs scoring twice in traffic, but a pair of triples from Needham in a 0-8 run opened a 28-38 margin. However, Caboclo had a three-point play, and scored 6 more points for the hosts, closing the margin to a single point, but Omer Utku Al's triple helped Bursaspor take a 44-50 advantage into halftime.
Ulm scored the first 7 points of the second, sparked by Paul's four-point play, and Paul added another three-pointer to make it 55-52. But Aubrey Dawkins and Needham answered with back-to-back threes on the other end to help Bursaspor restore the margin, 60-66. but Ulm scored the final 6 points of the third, including Karim Jalow's buzzer-beating runner to tie the game going into the fourth.
Neither team managed to get an advantage, as the score stood at 75-75 midway through the fourth before Paul banked a triple, Klepeisz had a four-point play, and Cabolco's 6 points opened 88-78 with 1:47 left. Three-pointers from Dawkins and Dudzinski gave Bursaspor hope, cutting the deficit to 4 points with 38 seconds to go, but Ulm held on.
